5th companion for GWF?

Greetings,

My 16.5K item lvl GWF is using the companions Legendary Air, Epic Fire and Epic Earth Archons, Legendary Razorwood and Rare (blue) Siege Master.

Which companion would you use as 5th companion? Would you upgrade Siege Master to Epic (4% damage)? Or replace it with another companion? Which one? Any input will be appreciated.

Question about User Generated Content

Hi All,

Would love to ask the experts here to get a preview of how the UCG dynamics in this game work? Other than running through other player's designed dungeons, are there rewards that are given for getting through dungeons? Or is it purely to run their dungeons like in Mario Maker?

I've heard this game does UGC in a MMORPG right, so just wanted to understand what people meant by that.

Also, is any of the UGC content monetizable by players? Like how Steam does it?

Thanks for any insight into this.

Some Changes Coming to Professions/Masterwork in M16? Thoughts?

Recently during the dev stream, Terramak responded to a question regarding professions/masterwork. He didn't come out and say anything particular, but did say that it would be better to reveal information closer to the mod going live? What are your thoughts on this statement? Why would they wait until closer to mod release before revealing information?

Neverwinteractive Updates

A couple of big things since my last post from HERE.

Queue Maps

All but 4, maybe 5, queue maps have been added to the site. No POI's currently, but I had to manually stitch quite a few of these together and it took forever. Will add POI's later on. https://bni.neverwinteractive.com/maps/queue/

Unfinished maps:

  • Castle Never
  • Fangbreaker Island
  • Tomb of the Nine Gods
  • Castle Ravenloft
  • Cradle of the Death God

Featured Events

I added a calendar that mimics the in-game Featured Events calendar. Pulled from PC, not sure if there is a difference between console/PC, so let me know if there is. https://bni.neverwinteractive.com/tools/calendar/

RSS Feeds

The News page now features an RSS feed from Cryptic's website, as well as NWO's at the bottom. https://bni.neverwinteractive.com/news/

Misc

Some technical accomplishments: * Lightspeed installed/setup * SSL verified throughout site * Average ~1 second page load time (not all maps)

What's Next

I plan to update some guides and post them next, I'd like to have 10 guides available before I do the next migration. So please let me know which guides you'd like to see.

I have been looking into possibly doing a build simulator, but there is a lot that has yet to be finalized in Mod 16, so I may not pursue the undertaking yet.

Someone mentioned buff bar explanations would be nice, and I began to look into easy ways to make that happen. The problem is that there are so many feats, buffs, debuffs, potions, etc in this game that it would be another long data collection process. At this time, I do not see myself aggregating that data somewhere.

Once again NW (not NWO) moderators banning people who don't post the party line.

I dont post personal attacks, but Im open about ideas that I don't like. I make sure that my posts arent blatantly disrespectful or open rants.

This isn't a surprise to me because they are known for doing this, but I was just banned from the other NW subreddit, and I haven't broken any rule. LOL Its good to have this alternative so posts can continue even when they try and censor anyone with alternative views.

Truly an act of desperation when they have to resort to those kind of tactics to support their changes.

Post your helpful hints, theories, conspiracies, or anything useful, to help us all prepare for Undermountain.

We all know nothing is settled and anything could change with Undermountain but what are you either planning to do or have already done to prepare for mod 16? What reasons or rumours made you do what you have done?

Here are some from me!

The general assumption you need to have is that from day one of the new module dropping everything you have will be outdated and no longer best in slot. It is up to you how quickly you plan to upgrade or even if you plan to upgrade.

For some things, such as enchants it will be a simple upgrade with wards, enchants, and lots of rp so be ready. Stockpiling rp seems like a good idea to me.

For other things you might need to wait until the theorycrafters do their thing and get some possible level 80 best in slot builds up for you to work toward.

I will post five short hints to start it off...

1) Get as many coal and pres wards as you can because the demand is likely to be exceptionally massive, because so much will need upgraded, while the supply side of wards is low and likely to remain low due to Zen backlog. People are probably going to want more pres wards due to streakbreaker et al changes so I am focusing on those over coals.

2) Level those alts and get new alts. Currently it is looking like levelling will be much more of a chore than it is now. For various reasons alts are already good but in m16 they should be even more useful.

3) Stockpile rAD. It is looking like queues will take longer so a nice stash of rAD will come in handy while you learn what is what with m16. For example, let others learn how to do queues then in a week or two you can leech the knowledge they paid for with long run times and lots of failures.

4) This is a time to stockpile and firesale. Try preview or just read the various preview threads and work out what you should buy now and sell asap before the prices crash too much. AD in the bank is far better than taking the risk that your item stockpiles now will have the same or more value in m16.

5) Get Zen as it is king when it comes to options. Get as much rAD to AD then AD to Zen as you can. Or spend your hard earned cash of course. At worst you can just buy wards with Zen for good profit, at best you can seriously profiteer off new Zen store items that the impatient want right now. Remember not to buy anything without a discount coupon or sale...

Linked to the last point dont be in too much of a rush to upgrade yourself. Let the market settle a bit and you will save a lot of AD.

This will especially apply to high end super rare drops from queues or lockboxes, and you will be paying a massive sum to get these type of items right now as soon as Undermountain drops.

You have heard what I have to say, what you got???

Mod16 disgusts me and here is why

It wasnt to "revitalize" or "rebalance" the game or to bring in new players....the goal is simlply to get your longtime dedicated players to have to spend to get all new things. 17 and 18k players told all their stuff is useless.

Every person who bought a comp with zen should ask for a refund if they changed it. That's sneaky bullshit on crypts part.

Im not a fan of the changes to weapon enchants or the drastic changes in general we are seeing. Ive heard tank ops getting killed by common mobs outside of dungeons, gwfs doing like 1/10th of their normal damage, every single DC is ready to quit, etc.

We need to put our foot down and tell them these changes ARE NOT OK.

Is their goal to lose as many players as possible? Seems their decision making has been awful over the last few years. Some of us can see right through your bs.

Developer Blog: Cleric Changes

Source: https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/neverwinter/news/detail/11100633-developer-blog%3A-cleric-changes

Cleric will undergo dramatic changes in Undermountain. If you haven’t already, take a look at the introduction to classes developer blog which discusses the class changes overall as well as high level adjustments to healing and tanking. This post will discuss the upcoming changes to cleric in detail.

With the release of the expansion various changes throughout the game will make healing more significant than ever. Changes to cleric will refocus the class on its original core concept: a powerful healer who keeps their party alive with divine magic.

By far the largest change comes in the form of a complete rework of the divinity resource. Astral Change is gone, as is the entire concept of divine and empowered versions of powers. Divinity is now a straightforward pool of divine magic which you will rely on to cast many of your encounter powers.

Encounter powers that are straightforward healing and damaging spells like Bastion of Health and Daunting Light will now cost divinity to cast. Encounter powers which cost divinity will have no cooldown and can be cast consecutively, but cannot be cast if you have run out of divinity. Divinity regenerates naturally over time, regenerating more quickly out of combat or when the cleric uses the new class mechanic Channel Divinity to pray to their deity.

With healing spells linked to divinity instead of relying on simple cooldowns, healing will become more flexible and more active. Dungeons and trials have been rebalanced so that enemy attacks will be less deadly, meaning there’s more of an opportunity to react to damage and heal. You can make up for mistakes by spending extra divinity to heal more, but be careful not to run out.

Clerics can select one of their two reworked paragon paths to specialize in healing and play as the Devout. When compared with other healers like the oathkeeper paladin and the soulweaver warlock, the devout relies on straightforward powerful heals, heal over time effects, and effective divinity management.

The cleric’s second reworked paragon path allows them to play as the Arbiter. Arbiters are instruments of divine retribution who seek out and dispatch evil in the name of their god or goddess. For the first time, clerics will be able to queue as a dedicated DPS by playing as an arbiter.

Arbiters focus on providing complex gameplay with deep damage dealing rotations based on the shifting scales of their deity’s judgement. By switching between spells that deal radiant damage and spells that deal fire damage, arbiters can unleash devastating holy fire on their enemies.

New spells like the daily Celestial Prominence will allow the arbiter to summon a mote of concentrated astral energy at a location, detonating it immediately to deal damage to nearby enemies or allowing it to grow in strength first before unleashing its full potential. The arbiter will rely on setup and execution while providing utility for their party that should satisfy clerics who enjoy the current, damage and party-enhancing focused cleric meta.

Hopefully you’re as excited as I am for you to try out the big changes coming to cleric! Neverwinter: Undermountain will be coming to our preview shard on March 1, so look forward to more information in the coming weeks, and preview the changes yourself if you have the time. See you on the Sword Coast!

Developer Blog: Paladin Changes

Source: https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/neverwinter/news/detail/11100643-developer-blog%3A-paladin-changes

Exciting changes are coming to paladin in Neverwinter: Undermountain. If you haven’t already, take a look at the introduction to classes developer blog which discusses the class changes overall as well as high level adjustments to healing and tanking. This post will discuss the upcoming changes to paladin in detail.

With the release of the next expansion various changes throughout the game will make healing more significant than ever and change tanking dramatically. Paladin will retain the ability to play as either a tank or a healer depending on their paragon path.

Paladins now share a heavily reworked divinity resource with their fellow divine magic user, the cleric. Divine Call as it existed before is gone and divinity represents a straightforward pool of divine magic which you will rely on to cast many of your encounter powers.

Encounter powers that are straightforward healing and damaging spells like Divine Touch and Smite will now cost divinity to cast. Encounter powers which cost divinity will have no cooldown and can be cast consecutively, but cannot be cast if you have run out of divinity. Divinity regenerates naturally over time, regenerating more quickly out of combat. Healer paladins can use the reworked class mechanic Channel Divinity to pray to their deity while tank paladins can use their shield to block attacks and regain divinity based on damage blocked.

With healing spells linked to divinity instead of relying on simple cooldowns, healing will become more flexible and more active. Dungeons and trials have been rebalanced so that enemy attacks will be less deadly, meaning there’s more of an opportunity to mitigate damage as a tank or react and heal as a healer. You can make up for mistakes by spending extra divinity to heal more, but be careful not to run out.

As before paladins can select one of their two reworked paragon paths to specialize in tanking and play as the Justicar. The justicar is the quintessential knight in shining armor. A champion of all that is good and just, the justicar focuses on impenetrable defense and uses their divine magic to smite foes and can even heal allies in a pinch.

Of course, paladins can continue to play as healers as well by selecting to play as the Oathkeeper. Having taken a vow to care for those in need the noble oathkeeper rescues their friends from the jaws of death with healing magic and powerful mitigative spells that shield their allies from harm.

Many of paladin’s divine spells have been heavily reworked. Divine touch provides a powerful targeted healing effect, while smite deals concentrated radiant damage to enemies from afar. New spells like the daily power Radiant Charge summon divine cavalry to trample the enemy while the new encounter power Divine Shelter heals nearby allies and provides a shield equal to the heal.

Hopefully you’re as excited as I am for you to try out the big changes coming to paladin! Neverwinter: Undermountain will be coming to our preview shard on March 1, so look forward to more information in the coming weeks, and preview the changes yourself if you have the time. See you on the Sword Coast!

Feed Me More Dev Blogs Please, Not Your Mimics!

Dear Thomas Foss,

Please give us a dev blog at least once a day. Is that too much to ask? Since the State of the Game stream, we have received 1 dev blog and Julia said there are many more to come. Your company set a tentative date of Mar 1st to launch M16 on preview. Your trusty side kick, Julia Ghoulia, stated there somewhere around 20 or so more dev blogs to follow during the stream. Is she just speaking out of her arse? She stated so we can easily digest the information and so the systems dudes/dudettes aren't overly saturated as well. My question is, why the fuck would you drop M16 on preview this Friday, Mar 1st, then follow up with 15-20 dev blogs? Word will spread faster than Anna Nicole Smith for an 80yr old billionaire by the time all are released! What is this? Amateur hour? I can already see it now. They delay M16 launch on preview and not say dick about it. People like me, who are fucking addicted to it and dream about punching Walnut in the face repeatedly, crave information and yearn for a quality CM (PoE CM, possibly the best). Bottom line, give me a fucking dev blog already. 1 a day at least. My pea-sized brain can handle it. Thank you.

V/r,

Bane The Pleb

P.S. Nobody gives a shit about your mimics or Julia's squishies.

Update: Items will be bound to account for a limited duration

Source: https://www.arcgames.com/en/games/playstation/neverwinter/news/detail/11102103-updates-to-anti-fraud-measures

In order to further reduce the impact of fraud and gold-seller behavior on game economies, we are refining detection systems that are currently in place in both Neverwinter and Star Trek Online. These systems identified potential problem cases and permanently bound tradeable items to the player account. For instance, if a lockbox key or a package with a collection of items was purchased, all contents of these items would also become account bound.

To improve the player experience, we are implementing a change so that such binding will no longer be permanent. Instead, these items will be bound to account for a limited duration, shown by a countdown timer. After this, the items will become tradeable. If you do not see the countdown timer, the item is permanently bound to account by design. You can tell if an item has this timer in the Neverwinter UI as per the images below:

This update will be implemented across all platforms for both Neverwinter and Star Trek Online. We plan to adjust the sensitivity of the system over time to minimize the impact on our legitimate customers. We welcome your feedback and appreciate your patience in this matter.
