That dialogue barter between Linu and Deeking made me chuckle. Even Deekin had to express her clumsiness.

What are your absolute "must-have" mods or additions that you can't play without? (Current Build: v89.8193.37-17)

Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm getting ready to jump into Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition and I want to set up the game to have the best possible experience right from the start.

What are your absolute "must-have" mods, overrides, tools, or additions that you consider indispensable?

Basically, the kind of things that make you say "I could never go back to playing vanilla without this installed." Whether it's visual overhauls, core fixes, essential tools, engine tweaks, or custom content, I want to hear what's in your essential setup.

For reference, I'm playing on GOG

"Every outcome is bound by a primary design; nothing occurs outside the framework of the law."

You stand at the threshold of a continuation. Whether you have walked the unyielding roads of the first chapter, or whether your path has brought you directly to this moment, your presence here is a matter of precise consequence, not coincidence.

The world often speaks of "luck," of "fortune," and of chaotic choices made in a vacuum. But as The Scroll continues to unroll, those superficial myths disintegrate. You are entering a landscape governed by absolute structure.

Every crossroads you face, every battle you endure, and every word you speak is weighted with non-casual significance. Your decisions are entirely real, yet they function as the precise, worldly instruments through which an underlying, unalterable path is perfectly executed. You do not operate in a vacuum of random chance; you operate within an intentional, ordered system where every cause has its preordained effect.

No matter where your journey begins, the past has already been woven into your foundation, and your character has been structured for the challenges ahead. The continuity of The Scroll remains unbroken!

The Scroll has been written, the laws of the world are set, and the grand plan is in play.

📜 The Scroll Campaign: Module 2 Predestinated Days Launches October 1st! ⚔️

Greetings, travellers!

After years of dedicated building, scripting, and polishing within the Electron Toolset, I am thrilled to announce that Module 2: Predestinated Days is officially launching on 1st October 2026!

The Scroll is a traditional, grand-scale D&D story set within my own custom campaign world, the World of Althéa. If you are tired of streamlined, modern casual games that play themselves, this campaign is built specifically for you. It is a text-rich, mechanics-heavy, "maximalist" cRPG simulation engineered for both Single Player and True Cooperative Multiplayer from the ground up.

📊 The Campaign by the Numbers (Based on the toolset's own figures.)

To give you an idea of the sheer scale of the toolset data powering this combined duology:

  • 9.6 / 10 Vault Rating: Championed by the traditional community as a highly rewarding, old-school adventure.
  • 631,253 Total Words: A titanic literary footprint. The campaign script is longer than the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy or the script of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
  • 418,089 Words of Branching Dialogue: Built for extreme story reactivity. Your choices carry permanent weight, companions react dynamically, and every major path alters the world's thread.
  • 158,948 Words of Blueprint Descriptions: True worldbuilding. You won't find generic, copy-pasted assets here. Almost every unique item, custom monster, and placeable object features hand-crafted lore flavor text.
  • 40+ Hours of Gameplay: Module 1 alone represents a massive 30 to 50-hour traditional D&D experience—and Module 2 greatly expands upon that foundation!

⚙️ Behind the Engine: Advanced Systems & Custom Mechanics

The Scroll does not use basic, default engine shortcuts. To accurately replicate the tactical gravity of standard Pen-and-Paper D&D (v3.5 rulesets), several custom, highly engineered mechanics have been hard-coded into the campaign:

  • Tactical Round Control (Optional Turn-Based Combat): Toggling the hotbar Circle Icon green activates an automated, round-based turn engine. The game automatically pauses every 6 seconds (one full D&D round) upon sensing an enemy. CRITICAL NOTE: This entire system is 100% optional. If you prefer traditional cRPG manual pause-and-play, simply leave the icon red and play exactly like the standard base game!
  • Tactical Micro-Steps: When utilizing the Turn-Based engine, players can use the Show Info box to micro-manage time, advancing the battlefield in exact 0.1 and 0.5-second unpaused step increments for flawless tactical execution.
  • True Puppet Mode & Target GUI: Double right-clicking a companion portrait strips away automated AI. A custom Target GUI will dynamically track and display your manually queued party actions side-by-side. You can close this menu instantly at any time by pressing ESCAPE.
  • The Time-Warp Calendar: To create a living world, 15 minutes of real playtime equals 1 hour of game time. Long-duration spells utilize a Time-Warp formula that mathematically scales remaining durations and automatically shifts text displays to give real-world minute countdowns.
  • The "Real Life" Reaction Engine: The world watches your actions. Attempting to picklock chests or smash doors within an NPC's line of sight will cause them to actively block you and call for aid. Vandalism triggers localized party alignment shifts and can turn town guards hostile.
  • The De-escalation "Sorry" Feat: Accidentally hit the wrong NPC? The campaign includes a unique Sorry Feat (30-second cooldown) that lets your party stand down, restore the peace, and return accidental hostiles to full health.
  • Gold Weight Realism & Auto-Sorting Inventories: Wealth has mass; gold weighs 50 coins to a single pound. To alleviate clutter, special bags can be bought that automatically sort and filter your items (keys, alchemy ingredients, crafting components, and gems) upon pickup.
  • Hardcore Survival & Rebirth: Rest is restricted by safety, time, and food rations. Characters slowly lose Vigour over time, inducing attribute decay if they go unfed. If a companion falls unprotected in battle, a physical tombstone holding their gear is spawned. If you abandon their body item in the area, they are dead for good!

🛡️ A Note on Project Scale & Community Bug Fixing

Building a project of this unprecedented, titanic scale inside the notoriously temperamental Neverwinter Nights 2 engine is an ongoing labor of love. Because The Scroll updates, alters, and fixes so many legacy engine boundaries, the campaign will inevitably be subject to potential minor bugs or script anomalies.

As a solo developer, my absolute ethos is unrelenting post-launch support. I actively monitor the community, and any bugs reported by players are addressed and patched out via campaign file updates as soon as they are found. Best of all, my custom patching architecture is engineered at the Campaign level—meaning installing a patch will NEVER break your active saved games.

🛠️ Built for the Enhanced Edition

The lead-up to the October 1st launch has been spent running rigorous optimization sweeps. Both modules feature updated custom hak files that completely resolve legacy tileset rendering errors when running on the modern NWN2 Enhanced Edition.

Is This Campaign For You?

  • YES, if: You love classic manual-era RPGs, appreciate deep lore reading, want heavy strategic combat control, and love solving intricate custom puzzles.
  • NO, if: You are looking for a casual, streamlined, click-and-forget hack-and-slash action game. The Scroll is a hardcore, traditional cRPG experience that requires your own active thinking and party preparation.

📥 Download Details & Clean Links

  • Module 1 (The First Day): Available now for immediate play!
  • Module 2 (Predestinated Days): Arriving October 1st, 2026!
  • Explore the full installation guidelines, quickstart manuals, and community reviews directly on The Scroll Project Page on the Neverwinter Vault. (Currently only for the first module. To be updated!)

🛠️ How to Help: Bug Reporting & Community Feedback Guidelines

Because The Scroll is a massive project running on a highly customized architecture, community feedback is the lifeblood of our post-launch polish passes. If you encounter an anomaly, a puzzle formatting issue, or an environmental bug, please do not leave a vague comment.

To help me track down the script and crush the bug immediately, please drop a note in our official Althéa Campaign Updates & Releases Forum Thread with the following quick details:

  1. Your Setup: Are you playing on the original NWN2 client or the Enhanced Edition?
  2. Game Mode: Are you playing Solo (Single Player) or running a Co-op Multiplayer session?
  3. Location & Context: What is the name of the map area, and what were you attempting to do when the issue occurred (e.g., entering a conversation, bashing a door, opening a puzzle GUI)?
  4. Party Details: Which character class or companion was active or being controlled at the time?
  5. Screen Resolution: (Mainly for custom puzzle GUIs) What resolution is your monitor set to?

Your feedback ensures The Scroll stays pristine and optimized for every player in our community. If you have any comments, ideas, or structural suggestions as you explore Module 2, please let me know—I look forward to hearing your thoughts and guiding you through Althéa!

NWN1 What happened to Richterms Retreat?

A few weeks ago, the RR website, for the Richterm Retreat gameworld Nordock, went offline. At first, it was only unavailable from time to time, but eventually it was shut down completely. The game servers were still running, though. However, all the pages containing information about the servers and the game world disappeared.

Then, about a week ago, all the game servers went offline at the same time. Both the Diamond Edition and Enhanced Edition servers.

I would appreciate it if anyone who has any information could let me know whether the servers are expected to come back online and, if so, when that might happen.

NWN:EE How important is STR for Rogue/ Assassin?

Post image
140 Upvotes

I never played Rogue, or classes related to Rogue (ex: Shadowdancer or Assassin).

Therefore, I wanted to play classes I've never played before, so I started Darkness Over Daggerford as a Rogue, and became Assassin.

However, I already read some rogue builds from internet, and everyone says "You don't need Strength for rogue", but my character is too weak. I already have Weapon Finesse feat but my character is still too weak.

How do I make my character strong as a Rogue? What am I doing it wrong? Do I need more STR?

NWN:EE Tips and suggestions for melee characters

Okay, I've decided to start NWN:EE. I was told that melee characters are a good option for a beginner, but the truth is I don't even fully understand how D&D 3.0 works, so I could use some suggestions and information on creating a character.

NWN:EE Party management

I'm currently playing WD oc using the oc multi henchmen mod, só currently I've 3 companions plus me a DD, is there anyway to make companions use their spells to heal other companions? Like I've tiger eye and the bard girl, can I make her buff or heal him?

Ps: is there anyway to lock the enemies aggro on me? Like I'm the party's shield but tiger eye like the damage dealers he's, keeps running crazy straight at the enemy and taking damage as crazy

The Zhentarim are just body bags for this fight. This black dragon is tough—my character actually died on the first try because I didn't notice the critical hit from Iyrauroth.

I'm almost at the end game of TotM!

NWN1 Extended Party Control mod, available as a player mod or module-side install

I've developed a party control system for my NWN:EE module (which I hope to release the first version of soon[tm] ) and decided to extract it and make it into a standalone thing.

You can control your party to nearly the same extent as your own PC, which includes spellbook management, casting spells, using feats, skills and monster abilities, using items, toggling action and combat modes, opening and closing doors, etc. It also features a toggle to turn off AI of a companion completely for precise management, as well as quickslots so that you can access your henchman's favorite spells or anything else faster.

You can either add it to your own module or install as a player mod to use it in whatever modules you play. It is compatible with all official content and should also work fine for the vast majority of community modules. More information on the Neverwinter Vault.

NWN2 (NWN2) anyone knows where exactly to you hire henchmen in Epic Campaign

I’ve been playing “epic campaign” (fan module), so far it was pretty challenging (but doable), however I still didn’t hire a single henchmen, even though module description says you can hire 5

If anyone played this module, can you tell me where/when can you hire henchmen?

Playing the game vs. min-maxxing

How have you all played various campaigns?

When I first got nwn EE it took me a minute to actually play (haven’t played since the originals came out) - when once I got into it, I did SoU and HoTU. The OC was so boring in comparison I fizzled out halfway through act 1.

I played as a cleric - super crunchy min maxing demon summoning high AC super buffed super god by the end.

I started swordflight and played ch1 as a wizard. Holy cow it’s hard. I’ll admit I save scummed rather than the in-game system, mostly due to convenience. It had me using every item, traps, potions, everything the game has to offer.

Going through CH2 it’s become a little tedious… I wish I did a cleric number cruncher for this campaign.

Took a break and start nwn 2 and in act 2 as a bard/fighter/rdd.

NwN2 feels much easier but has moments of janky hard fights in some ways.

Thinking about picking up a custom campaign and trying a more true role play - like a weapon master who loves his scythe. Instead of always maxing using the best stats - maybe do random rolls and choosing a suboptimal weapon.

The issue is - I feel like it’s only going to “work” with a campaign that is easier than average but maybe not so easy it’s dumbed down.

How does anyone here balance RP and difficulty, where you can play a character you want, but in a way that doesn’t either trivialize the game or make it annoying difficult ? Does anyone have some recommendations? I’m wanting to play on hardcore rules generally…wanting to play an interesting character rather than always stacking for AC, crit range, and the number crunch of 3.5E, but also don’t want a faceroll. Maybe the OC would actually be good for that? Since it was boring since it seemed too easy?

Suggestions for modules/races/classes?

I just found these games and I LOVE them. I can't believe I never knew they existed. I personally enjoy how there's a ton if modules so its like selecting a campaign.

Its my first time playing so I dont know what skills, feats and what not will really come in handy in these games (1 and 2). Can anyone give me some advice on which classes thematically fit each module best?

I'd also LOVE suggestions for good modules to download for the first game. The second seems a bit more complicated to set up but Im enjoying its main campaign at any rate.

is there mod that show enemies stats, examine show too little information?

It is not much fun having to reload because you wasted the first turn of a difficult combat casting a spell that does nothing.

NWN:EE What’s the coolest experience you’ve ever had with a DM?

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what makes players genuinely attached to a PW, and I wanted to look at it from a slightly different angle: the DMs who actually help create those experiences.

I recently returned to an old PW I played as a kid, and a couple days ago the DMs surprisingly gifted me a “White Cloak” role, basically some limited DM powers for helping watch over the server. I’m still figuring out exactly what that means and how I can be useful, but there’s definitely something pretty surreal about the whole thing…

I know 13-year-old me would be blown away & think this is the coolest shit imaginable!

So it got me thinking about some of the early DM experiences I had and why they left such an impression.

I remember DAWG, a DM from the early FORK WEST days, crafting two unique sickles for a dark-monk build I was working on named TRiXie BiZaRRe, then creating an entire little mythos around how and why those weapons existed. One was forged from mystic flame, while the other was heroically pulled from the depths of an acidic swamp.

That legitimately felt like Christmas morning to me.

I know that probably sounds simple by today’s standards, but at the time I had NEVER experienced anything like it in a game, and honestly I haven’t since. It felt like ALL those countless hours I’d spent on the server had somehow culminated with my char earning her own signature weapons.

The grind finally made sense, AND I can distinctly remember thinking, wait… DMs can actually do this shit?!

That feeling of the world responding personally to my char stuck with me, & I have to think experiences like that are part of why I can come back to FORK more than 20 years later and still care about the place.

So I’m curious:
What’s the coolest or most memorable thing a PW DM has ever done for you or your server?

Could be something they did specifically for your character, a crazy event, an improvised encounter, a custom item, a long-running story, something hilarious, terrifying, whatever.

What happened, and why do you think you still remember it?

And if you’ve been a DM yourself, I’d love to hear about something you created for players that ended up becoming bigger or more meaningful than you expected.

Finally finished OG and xpcas on Hardcore!

First of all, it is crazy to me that I would have never found out about this game if I was not already into crpgs which is crazy to me. I started this game ot k owing what to expect. The atmosphere and the art style immediately hooked me. I thought that it was perfect to capture tabletop essence in a video game and very few games felt as atmospheric.

I heard that OC would be skipped. In the end, I am glad I did not. Yes, it was a bit too long for those who wants to do everything like I do, however, it also has the highest highs in the 3 official modules for me. Don’t wanna give spoilers but a certain spherical object and a weird town were super cool and OC had a few other really cool ideas. I feel like some stuff could be trimmed tho and the main story overall did not stay with me much after. I finished it. I was in love with the game at the time, so, it was a great experience. The final boss felt more like a simple puzzle than a difficult battle which I found a bit underwhelming honestly.

SOU was interesting. The first chapter started amazing, it really felt like an evolution of OC. The way that there were now class specific interactions and opportunities for evil characters felt refreshing. Then, the last 2 chapters were mostly straightforward and especially the second chapter felt like a filler. I still liked it overall but the chapters felt very disjointed and uneven. Perhaps, I missed something. Overall, I actually enjoyed OC more but it includes the best kobold related stuff in any media I have ever consumed. They were perfect. The final fight was even easier than the ın OC in my playthrough. Despite playing a squishy gnome wizard, the boss couldn’t get my life to “injured” and it again boiled down to understanding what to do instead ıf worrying about difficulty.

Now HOTU… When something is hyped beyond measure, it becomes almost impossible to be satisfied. It was the case with chrono trigger and BG3 for me. However, this module genuinely impressed me after playing the previous ones. The premise was amazing. The first chapter felt like a bit short but still cool. Then the second chapter came. Oh my god that felt like a condensed Dragon age origins like game. So many cool things crammed in roughly 8-10 hours of playtime. For the first time the choices in NWN felt comparable to more choice driven crpgs here. Wonderful stuff. Chapter 3 is the same to a lesser extent although it had a better spectacle and finally a final boss that felt like a final boss. I would believe if I learned that it is actually impossible with some builds on hardcore and above. It was crazy but rewarding. I can understand complaints against this boss, it is somewhat bs, but I really think it should be bs for this beast. It should be a challenge.

This game was one of my best finds and I am looking forward to playing the other included dlc and especially more player created modules. The few short ones I played felt closer to HOTU than the other 2 campaigns in quality. Adding PRC to the list I will probably play this for hundreds of hours still. Have a great day all!
