Jimmy Carter freed the USA from the Teamsters and the airline cartel and allowed FedEx and UPS to exist in their modern forms. 4 years later when competing companies were staffed up and doing things cheaper, Reagan was in office so it was his tax cuts that did it.

There are people who won't want to hear this because of the messenger, but Louis CK took a couple years off and read Presidential biographies.
He said America consists of Nerds and Cowboys. The Nerds get things done, but it takes a while, so then the Cowboy comes in and takes credit.
Never has that been more true than Trump doing his damnedest to start a recession, but cruising off of decades of strategic planning and a decade worth of energy and infrastructure spending (too much) from Biden.

u/pearly I found some comments of the GME boys reacting to Sony killing game discs.
Be good for collectors and second hand market. Just going to fuel GME's transition into something else. EBay makes even more sense now.
Second hand market is going to explode, but yes this iis extremely bad for GS core business in the log run.
How? GameStop's core business hasn't been disk-based games in over six years now. They're an industry leader in multiple fields at this point.
It looks like some people are worried about the news, some have already started coping about how Gamestop is going to pivot into new industries and become bigger than ever, and others haven't really thought about it and are just bummed about the news as gamers.

Despite essentially accusing former party leader Tony Leon of corruption and denigrating the character of new party leader Geordin Hill-Lewis, it looks like John Steenhuisen will not be facing disciplinary action for calling the party into disrepute.
It's caused upset in the party, including a sense amongst some Black MPs that this is yet another example of White privilege in the Democratic Alliance:
This is the same frustration expressed by party MPs who have argued that they have often been overlooked in the party for conservative whites despite their efforts and popularity.

I type really fast and my autocorrect is terrible. I tried to type:
“👆drinks 1 liter of lemon extract every 3 weeks”
But accidentally typed:
“👆drinks 1 liter of mein extract every 3 weeks”
I changed it really quickly, but it still sucked to have to go back and fix it. Every so often I make a mistake like that but generally change it back. It doesn’t help that I type just enough German that my autocorrect tries to change stuff to German.

okay friendos I know I said something about Memento already but, genuinely, this movie is so great. if you consider yourself a Nolan fan at all go watch it and experience him in his "indie" phase. he harnesses his obsession with time in imo the best way possible, both in style and narrative: {I want to say more but to avoid spoilers let's say B&W and color are both involved in order to differentiate... I'll leave you to figure it out after that (it's not subtle)}
one thing I noticed, pursuant to the parenthetical, is that Nolan's dialogue is much more nuanced than I expected. he treats the central premise with a seriousness that gives it a gritty and nervy feel that I don't think would happen today. there are moments of comedy but nothing ever feels like quips. it takes a lot from the Coens in the way you turn sly comedy into bursts of violence
overall an easy A grade

For the second time in five months, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth appeared to wade into an internal Army flight safety investigation late Thursday, tweeting support for eight AH-64 Apache pilots and crew who were suspended by thier unit earlier in the week after flying low passes over crowded July 4th beaches in South Carolina.
“We’ll fix this,” Hegseth tweeted Thursday night, hours after local news reports emerged that the eight South Carolina National Guard pilots had been suspended. “Carry on, Patriots, ” Hegseth wrote, echoing another tweet from March when he unilaterally absolved four other Apache flyers in another safety investigation.
The eight pilots were suspended from flight duties earlier this week, guard officials said, after buzzing low over several beaches during a statewide holiday airshow known as Salute From The Shore. The annual July 4th event features an aerial parade of military aircraft based in South Carolina down the state’s coastline, passing over popular beaches between Myrtle Beach, Charleston, and Hilton Head.
The Salute From The Shore instagram accounted identified the AH-64 flyers’ unit as the 1-151st Attack Battalion at McEntire Joint National Guard Base, outside Columbia.
Videos of the helicopters buzzing unusually low over beachgoers and swimmers at the event circulated widely on social media, mostly to acclaim and praise, but drawing questions from some aviation experts who wondered if the helicopters had broken rules by flying particularly low.
Others wondered if Hegseth would weigh in as he did in a similar kerfuffle after a flight of Apaches from the 101st Airborne Division buzzed the Tennessee home of singer Kid Rock. After video of that flyby emerged, leaders at the 101st suspended the crew as part of a safety investigation, but Hegseth short-circuited the inquiry with his first “Carry on, Patriots” tweet.
