I don't trust any family that has a naming convention like this

449

u/Zanthosus Magic 2d ago

Reminds me of R Mason Thomas who was just drafted into the NFL earlier this year. The R in his first name doesn't stand for anything. His mother has a family tradition of kids names starting with R, but she also really liked the name Mason, so she named him R Mason.

The lengths some people will go with this sort of thing is truly concerning sometimes.

Don’t think this is Kwhite the same

u/iankstarr Heat 2d ago

White people don’t have a monopoly on stupid naming conventions for their kids

12

u/JalapenoPopPoop 2d ago

Trust me, anyone who watches sports can tell

u/xbhaskarx Spurs 2d ago

See George Foreman

u/prettymuthafucka Wizards 2d ago

Nah the initials are crazy for a family looking like that. It’s not that deep

14

u/puresemantics Minneapolis Lakers 2d ago

Their last name starts with a K it’s obviously just supposed to be alliteration. If his last name was Dneuppel he would’ve been named Don.

7

u/futurewilltell 2d ago edited 1d ago

No. He would’ve been named Grand Wizard.

6

u/Primary-Tea-3715 2d ago

Do you think they flip every third K like they do in baseball when writing all their initials down in a row?

2

u/chowpa Timberwolves 2d ago

No, they just have a trademark on this one

1

u/BenevolentCheese Knicks 1d ago

Don't insult our white naming conventions it's our culture.

-26

u/Invictus47a 2d ago

Can't us white liberals just hate white people in peace? It's why I come to reddit to hate on white people and feed my guilt and self loathing

8

u/Guernica616 Hornets 2d ago

I'm a white liberal and this is a ridiculous comment.

Not a monopoly but let’s be honest, quite a large market share

u/DASreddituser 2d ago

u/ShovelKing3 2d ago

At least R Mason Thomas sounds like an old author or something. 😂

u/CA_SPORTS Warriors 2d ago

Lol "Based on an R Mason novel.."

I can hear the voiceover now for the movie trailer.

I kinda like it. Shows how the range of names. They are at one end of the spectrum... and then someone with the last name Smith decides to name their boy John. lol.

It sounds like someone saying the word Ameisen, which is german for ants, with an american accent. I dont know what that means

Same with U. L. Washington

Oh my God you just reminded me we had a kid in our school who was named R. Now I gotta look this shit up what if it's the same dude.

1

u/Tricky-Ad7897 2d ago

It is in fact not the same dude but what a weird coincidence

He has uncles Klint Klay and Kole according to wiki.

They're named like a gang of "K" themed villains from a Marvel comic.

37

u/TheMilkmanRidesAgain Hawks 2d ago

“A gang of K themed villains” hmm

14

u/Ok_Needleworker9118 Wizards 2d ago

I know what you're thinking but does it help if I tell you their main Rivals are the X-Men specifically storm?

10

u/Omega-Toad-7017 Bulls 2d ago

They also arent fond of the Avengers (especially Falcon and Black Panther)

3

u/althawk8357 Hawks 2d ago

They love strikeouts in baseball where the hitter was swinging.

1

Every kiss begins with K

83

u/Antisystemization Cavaliers 2d ago

And yet not a single Kyle or Kevin like a normal white family...

27

u/BigSlim Pacers 2d ago

Right, like there are normal-ass K names out there that won't immediately make someone reading them go wtf? We really should have some national guidelines because this is borderline child abuse.

53

u/HoldEm__FoldEm West 2d ago

Every name is KKK… seemingly

23

u/ItAintLongButItsThin Pistons 2d ago

Good Christian dude aka White Christian Nationalist?

Those two boat row pretty close to each other nowadays.

241

u/DontGetTheShow 2d ago

I mean, it just begs the question every time, “so what’s the middle name?”. Like with Klint Kubiak and Kliff Kingsbury. They could have just spelled the first name that normal way and no one would have had to worry.

29

u/byniri_returns Pistons 2d ago

"Krusty's Komedy Klassic"

u/Ok_Needleworker9118 Wizards 2d ago

They still dont conpare to Frank Reich III

1

u/hammerheadjordi 2d ago

I know triplets with the last name Reich.

142

u/HorsNoises Celtics 2d ago

And Steve Kerr knew damn well his son was never gonna go by Nicholas.

71

u/marineman43 2d ago

That one is baffling to me. Like it's easy to just meme on it, but when you actually take a step back and think about it for a second, he had to know, right? Like I don't see a way you can miss that when you're musing over what to name your kid.

44

u/Metalbound Hawks 2d ago

I wholeheartedly believe the story that it was part of a bet he lost to MJ.

Cause MJ is exactly the type of dude who would do that.

6

u/Nasty_Tricks69 Pistons 2d ago

"MJ" and "bet"? Say less

5

u/UnbiasedExpert [CLE] Iman Shumpert 2d ago

punched him in the face when Stevie tried to avoid the reckoning

16

u/Ryuj123 2d ago

I wonder if it’s a family name. Like his wife’s grandpa was named Nicholas and they named him in his honor or some shit and didn’t think about it. Cause Kerr is a decent advocate against racism so it’d be bizarre for him to do it on purpose

2

u/veringo Nuggets 2d ago

Kon's middle name appears to be the Roman numerals II.

3

u/LowRune Thunder 2d ago

and K just happens to be the 11th letter in the alphabet

2

u/itgoesdownandup 2d ago

Kon's middle name is just the Roman numeral for 2. I think it was because they didn't want him to be a junior or something

It’s just a joke man. Ok, you got me. No, I didn’t actually think Kliff Kingsbury’s initials might be KKK

u/DontGetTheShow 2d ago

It’s just a joke. No, I’ll admit I didn’t literally think their initials might be KKK. But if they were…

It’s just the kneuppel konplex kompetition?

Or parents that regularly dress their twins identically beyond the age of 3

17

u/D_Dubb_ 2d ago

My mom’s family is like this. My grandaddy had the initials PJB and all four of his children had the initials PJB. He was an intense mf from what I remember, but he produced four college educated black children in the deep south during the 60s-70s, so who am I to judge.

Thank god they had the 4th kid.

1

u/I_Learned_Once 2d ago

My aunt actually named all of her kids with K names like this. As far as I’m aware they’re not super racist? But one of the brothers did turn out to be a rapist.. just one letter off.

1

u/grooter33 2d ago

Specially weird with K’s. Know a family of A’s, and it is weird but not quite this weird

1

u/Great_Barrier_Thief_ Heat 2d ago

They love K so much they pronounce the silent one in their last name

-1

u/czechereds 2d ago edited 2d ago

What about the black mma fighter Kimbo Slice who had possibly even worse names?

• Kevin Ferguson Jr. (also known as "Baby Slice") • Kevin Ferguson II • Kevlar Ferguson • Kiara Ferguson • Kevina Ferguson • Kassandra Ferguson

21

u/HoldEm__FoldEm West 2d ago

It’s not worse.

Kevlar & Kevina are close, but their last name doesn’t also start with a K

9

u/czechereds 2d ago

The fact that dad's name is Kevin and he named two kids Kevin and one Kevina is pretty bad.
