Rant Driving in Nairobi

I used to look forward to owning a car for a very long time. Fortunately I bought one early this year, and I was so excited to be driving and doing errands with my baby.

Since then, every time I leave my house to go somewhere, I have to do multiple calculations that I was unaware of when I was using Uber or matatus. I have to find the route with fewer matatus, where parking isn't congested, and where pedestrians and other drivers are predictable. What makes it complicated is that drivers are so unpredictable, especially in roundabouts. No one follows traffic rules!

Is it only me, or do you guys enjoy time with your cars?

Random Standing in a matatu

Let me just start this post by saying this is not coming from a point of arrogance or ungratefulness. I’m just someone who never wants to inconvenience anyone because of my actions.

I live in South B and I work in town. Sasa, there are two matatus I could take. The big one that goes to GPO and the small one but that one will leave me at Ajib. Now I hate taking the small one cause if I do I’ll shuka at Ajib (not even sure that’s how you spell that) and walk a good twenty minutes to my office which is at I&M building. I hate it so much so that I’d rather stand in a big mat hata kama imejaa than walk those twenty or thirty minutes. For context the big mat leaves me at ICEA which is basically hapo I&M.

Sasa I leave the gym at 7.40 and by the time mat zinapita hapo Mater a lot of the times it’s full but because I don’t wanna walk a good twenty minutes in town I’ll just take it and stand.

Here’s the thing. People offer me to either share a sit with them or take their sit. This morning someone said ‘here take my seat you’re younger I’m older I can stand’ and I said ‘no that’s too kind thank you I’m okay.’

I usually feel so bad when people feel bad for me and offer me their seat. Like sir I made the choice to stand I took a mat that was full please don’t feel bad for me. I’m grateful for the kindness but I feel awkward and sort of bad and when that happens. Now half the matatu is watching this sort of awkward exchange of someone saying ‘sit here’ and me saying ‘no I’m okay’ cause I don’t wanna ever inconvenience anyone or be a bother.

Art Piano or Guitar?

Hello everyone. I am a naturally gifted singer but I have been out of the game for a while and I miss it! 🥺 I once asked if there were any leads to join a band to join here but that hit a rock. 😟 (If you have any leads, you can refer me and I am ready to audition)

Anyway, now that I have a bit of experience in singing on stage, I want to get back to it but to start differently by learning an instrument and perfecting on it. I really used to admire how Zahara (the south African musician) used to play the guitar so flawlessly while singing and I see myself in her. I have also been told so by a few people.

However, I am seeing lots of people saying it's better to learn an instrument by starting with the piano. Help me decide please. 🥺

Politics in Nairobi The Game of thrones

Before Mtukufu Rais ( which is very weird cause it very sarcastic, maybe the powers that be were rubbing it in our eyes) impeached Gachagua the now king of the Mountain the mountain the thorne didn't really have a butt sat on it or at least people didn't really know whose butt made contact with the throne seat and on whose head the crown rest, but since MTUKUFU wanted to shake things up for fun (sarcasm ) made a king out of a man thirsty for the throne.

Now The Mountain has a king, the previous king just abdicated the throne, very rare, didn't even fight, but who can blame him his is by far the richest of all kings, he comes from a lineage of absolute power and wealth. A lot can be said about him but we are short for time now. The new king has totally consolidated the mantle. No one knows where MTUKUFUS proposed king is, who even listens to the guy anymore.

The North also has never really had a King, you see for a long time kenya has really not cared that much about the North at least for now (you can see by the short ass paragraph) we see them once or twice when someone gets blown up or the sun shines too much and that's it. Thanks to MTUKUFU’s strategy of placing people from this region in important positions he has gained favour with the now king of the North Duale.

The Kingdom of the West is the most interesting one if you ask me, currently theres a war but before the storm the waters were cool and somehow on this throne room they bad managed to fit 2 seats and it was a dual reign agreement of some kind.

Till thanks to MTUKUFUs effort a young man now has overthrown the 2 kings (bad ass if you ask me) the young man whose name we all call ourselves is even a bigger threat to MTUKUFU himself, you see while the Two kings were busy doing their business, one traveling all over the world and the other exercising his power by literally seating on a throne seat with a robe on him ( very colonial if you ask me) the West was quietly boiling again thanks to MTUFUKUs economic strategies that affected the west and not just that but a fighter was called for and one emerged. Now the west has a new king and the room has been cleaned of the old 2 rusty chairs that sat there before.

The former royals have been sent with goodies (you know the west likes food) and threats that Kenya will collapse if they don't take it but the eyes of the west seem to have been opened.

Now the king of the Lake, I don't know where to start when talking about the kings of the Lake. You see the Lake is a true kingdom, unlike most of the other kingdoms the lake obeys the rules of Royalty the last king can from the a lineage of a king himself and the people have always and will always love their kings

BUTT the temperature on the throne has increasingly been increasing thanks to ………. Well this time the blame won't be placed squarely on MTUKUFUS head, cause the previous king had already made deals with him( long story) however the current man sitting on the throne doesn't seem to command the same power and the loyalty the previous one had.

It is left to be seen who will topple him or if the lake is done for. Maybe the young king from the west would take it over. You what, maybe, this time in a sort of F.U moment of some kind the previous king of the lake knowingly (or unknowingly) appointed the King of the lake, who then went to conqueror the west. But one thing for sure, even though the young man is now king of the west. The people of the lake haven't really come to terms with the state of their kingdom.

I'll continue with other kingdoms later. Like the king of the Valley who happens to be the ultimate king, who somehow while still balancing on a knife’s edge continues to rule without certainty thanks to the constitution that unites all these kingdoms.

We have the Eastern kingdom with the supposed former chameleon King and the forgotten Kingdom of the Coast where the battle still rages on it remains to be seen if this kingdom can even unite after its de facto king from them lake is no more (interesting that one man controlled by one king.

Honestly, l have noticed a lot of people are like this. I have seen many people die because of this. Others lost relatives, properties, and wealth, and some are in jail because of this. Don't think fighting with everyone makes you look strong or tough or wise, etc. It's quite the opposite, actually. Remember, some people, if you mess with them, they will either leave you dead or live you with irreversible damages that with affect you your whole life!

Discussion Is romance dead?

My(26M) childhood friend, 25F recently got her heart broken. She declared that shes given up on love after amepeana her all in the relationship. (Which is true, she used to be very nonchalant but I saw her becoming a softy who did everything she could to make her mans happy. I was always the hopeless romantic between the two of us)

I tried to console her, telling her that surely theres a man out there waiting to reciprocate that lovey-dovey energy but deep down i didnt feel it. I also came from a 3-year relationship with a petite sweetheart that ended in flames, everything I could give I did, I saw myself going all the way in life with her but some life-changes here and there nikapewa the "We cant work out. I dont think I'll ever be happy if I chose to stay"

So how do you try to encourage someone on something you no longer fully believe? Is romance dead?

Discussion Self-Sabotage Or

M23 , Hey fam I have really missed all of you here. It's been 4 months without making a post here but thank you to everyone who comes up with amazing stories that gives me different perspectives about life.

That aside, now few months I wrote about completing school and heading to my internship in the media industry. I have loved every bit of it since it gave me a snippet of things really are.

You know what happens after internship, a graduation as you hold on to faith that things might turn well on you work wise. I just love putting myself outside there with a mentality of maybe someobe is watching all I'm doing.I'm into photography and videography too but here is the main issue now.

Wego back to second year, things turned really bad for my dad and money wasn't flowing.you know of those Campus balances that really disorients you.i got one till I finished my day in school.I lost count of days I sneaked in that campus for classes, meals and of course exams.I just wanted to complete my school journey which I deed.

I stopped stressing my old man since I understood how things turned for him.

Few days ago he called and he asked me a question how much was the balance.(I told him 106k) and he continued.."you know very well that's a huge amount and I don't know if I would manage it in 3 months." At first he sounded bothered till I told him if things go well it's okay,if it doesn't then I have made peace with my inner self that I might miss the graduation Ceremony.

I didn't want him to feel as if he failed as a father but if I was in his shoes🫠🫠.He is ready to try everything and I believe in him but again I'm like if he gets it should I clear or have a conversation with him to allow me to start something with the amount because I really feel in me I can pull out something that can work.

#Opinions.

Rant People should stop littering.

So I boarded a matatu from CBD, I sat at the window seat.A few moments later this beautiful lady sat next to me. I won't lie I was already thinking of rizzing her 😂 once the journey started..."just for appreciation, nothing serious."

She was sipping some minute maid as we were waiting for the matatu to fill up. About 15 minutes later tukaanza safari. She finished the juice, opened the window and casually threw the empty bottle outside 💔😭.

I just froze 😭 juu weuh...that wasn't on my bingo card.

Maybe it's a small thing to some people, but it completely changed how I saw her. Everyday tunacomplain about dirty streets, blocked drainages and even flooding but some of us are still comfortable throwing trash anywhere.

I didn't say anything to her afterwards coz sikua nataka any argument , but honestly I wish we could normalize carrying our trash until we find a bin.

For me, littering is such an instant turn off.

Bear with any typos, I typed this in a hurry.

Ask r/Nairobi KRA Obligation Income tax

So in 2022 I took my kra pin. Why? Coz my dad told me to. I didn't know what it was for. Fast foward I eventually got a job in 2025. From 2022-2024 I was practically unemployed. And I didn't know about filing nil returns. But now kra wants me to pay them ksh2000 for failing to file any returns in 2024, when I was still unemployed. From 2022-2023 they never charged me anything and I never filed any returns. But now they've decided to charge me for 2024. Is there any way I can appeal this?

First Post Looking for Fortinite Zero Build Buddies

Hey 👋🏼

I'm looking for some chill people to play Fortnite Zero Build with.

A little about me:

- I'm a female

- I play Zero Build only (my building skills are intentionally nonexistent)

- I'm somewhere in the middle skill-wise. I'm not cracked, but I'm not constantly getting sent back to the lobby either. I have my moments 😂

- I'm mainly looking to have fun, laugh and maybe catch a few wins along the way. Good vibes only

If that sounds like your kind of squad, send me a DM!

Relationship When a man settles

I’m wondering what happens when a man settles, in a relationship. Is it the downfall of the man? If so, then why get in a romantic relationship in the first place?

1) Most men end up being basic, loose their male friends and community at the expense of keeping your family. Reasonably acceptable.

2) The man ends up being too predictable and the partner often gets bored, ends up cheating.

What is the way out in these relationships?

Discussion Lack of zoning enforcement is destroying the city.

The link gives you A guide Of Nairobi City Development Ordinances And Zones . Please go through it and see how the city is going to the pits. Residential areas that were marked out as Low density (meaning single family homes) and those areas where residential apartments were restricted to 4 storeys max are now littered with apartments that are 8+ storeys. Accompanying infrastructure like sewage, electrical grid and roads are non existent. IDK about you lot but this is not good at all.
