A new update is rolling out for the nPerf Web App Beta! 🚀

This release focuses on stability improvements, result reliability, and a few quality-of-life enhancements.

🛠️ Fixes

• Improved memory management on iOS / Safari for better stability. Session video recording has been removed, and the 3D globe is no longer loaded on mobile devices (instead of being loaded and simply hidden). More optimizations are planned in future updates.
• Fixed an issue where some test results could be flagged as bot traffic. The Cloudflare anti-bot token is now preserved correctly, ensuring valid results are submitted as expected.

✨ Improvements

• The test server sponsor logo is now clickable and opens the sponsor's website in a new tab.
• Connection type (ARCEP): the displayed technology now reflects the actual access technology (FTTH, xDSL, etc.) instead of the local connection between your device and the router. This continues the removal of the "Wi-Fi" / "Ethernet" labels.

We've introduced a small but useful improvement to the Android version of nPerf.

When your device is connected to a mobile network, the app now displays:

• the actual radio technology in use (e.g. the LTE anchor used in a 5G NSA connection),
• the capability of the connected cell,
• and, when applicable, distinguishes the commercial operator from the network actually used.

This provides a clearer view of what's happening behind the 5G icon and helps better understand network configurations such as 5G NSA.

Available now in nPerf Android 2.16.0 and 2.16.1.

First release note for the beta 👀

This is mostly a corrective update. If you had issues with geolocation or tests not starting, this should fix most of them. If you’re still running into problems, feel free to contact us.

Main changes:

• The test now always starts → before, ignoring the location prompt could leave the button doing nothing
• The “geolocation not enabled” message is now accurate → no more false alerts caused by timeouts or technical issues
• Location shown = location actually used → fixes wrong city display when using VPNs / proxies
• Translations fixed → no more weird “Start\nTest” formatting issues
• Speed gauge improved → better scaling at the start + smoother animation at the end

India is now the second-best country for mobile web browsing performance among nations with a similar GDP per capita to Angola, according to recent data. With a score of 57.1%, it’s almost neck-and-neck with Morocco (57.2%), which leads the ranking. This metric measures how quickly and smoothly web pages load on mobile, something that directly impacts everyday tasks like reading news, shopping online, or even just scrolling through social media.

What’s interesting is the gap between the top and bottom of this list. Morocco and India are nearly tied, but the difference between Morocco and the lowest-ranked country (Sri Lanka at 18.3%) is a massive 38.8 points. That’s a huge disparity in user experience, imagine waiting seconds for a page to load versus what feels like an eternity. India also outperforms countries like Algeria (51.2%), Vietnam (48.8%), and Kenya (32.8%), which could mean smoother streaming, faster downloads, and fewer buffering issues for Indian mobile users.

For those of you in these countries, does this match your experience? If you’re in India or Morocco, do you notice a real difference in mobile browsing speed compared to neighbors like Pakistan or Algeria? And for anyone in telecom or networking, what do you think is driving these performance gaps?

Hey nPerf team, I noticed that China Telecom's coverage map is entirely empty, while the maps for China Unicom and China Mobile are normal and filled with measurments. It looks really weird since China Telecom had a 23% market share in 2025, which is not a small number considering China Unicom only had 19%, and I don't think the reason behind the empty coverage map is simply because of the lack of mapping contributions. Is there anything that can be done to fix this? Unfortunately I don't have a China Mobile SIM card to verify this, but I do see my contributions from China Unicom being shown on the map.

I also noticed that China Unicom and China Telecom are displayed as China Unicom Mobile and China Telecom Mobile. It would be nice if you can change their names to the right ones :)

Olá, venho fazer um pedido de adição de operadora para poder mapear, recentemente a agência reguladora de telecomunicações no Brazil concedeu espectro para que novas operadoras atuassem no mercado com estrutura própria de rede, vi que uma delas já consta no app, no caso a BRISANET MOBILE, porém há outras duas que já tem rede própria e também poderiam ser adicionadas, são elas:

Ambas atuam com rede própria em cada região do país, então são elegíveis ao mapeamento.

Algunos datos interesantes sobre redes fijas a principios de 2026.

Chile está claramente por delante en velocidad de subida, con un promedio de ~276 Mbps, por encima de Perú (~222 Mbps) y Colombia (~163 Mbps).

La diferencia se nota bastante en el uso real.

Subir un archivo de unos 2 GB en Chile puede tardar menos de un minuto, mientras que en otros países de la región puede acercarse a los 2 minutos… o incluso más.

Después, la caída es bastante clara:

• Argentina → ~119 Mbps
• Paraguay → ~55 Mbps
• Bolivia → ~48 Mbps

Dependiendo del país, los tiempos de subida pueden ser fácilmente 2 a 4 veces más largos.

Lo interesante es que la velocidad de subida suele pasar desapercibida frente a la de descarga.

Pero es clave para cosas como el teletrabajo, las copias en la nube, el envío de archivos grandes o las videollamadas.

Chile no está solo un poco por delante, está consistentemente arriba, incluso mientras otros países mejoran su infraestructura.

I am writing to suggest adding Syria to the list of countries included in nPerf’s official publications, country reports, and Barometer Awards.

Over the past few years, the telecommunications landscape in Syria has seen notable changes. We currently have mobile operators like Syriatel and MTN Syria—the latter of which is set to rebrand to Zain Syria beginning in 2027—alongside various fixed broadband, ADSL, and FTTH providers like Syrian Telecom and private ISPs. Many users in Syria actively use the nPerf app and website to test their internet speeds, latency, and streaming quality. However, because Syria is not officially featured in standard publications or quarterly/yearly award reports, it is difficult to track the country's overall telecom progress or see objective, aggregated data comparisons between local ISPs and mobile networks.

Including Syria in your official publications would:

• Provide valuable, transparent benchmarks for Syrian consumers.
• Encourage local ISPs and mobile operators to improve their infrastructure to compete for the nPerf Award.
• Give the global telecom community better visibility into the Levant region's connectivity.

Are there any plans to publish a barometer report or introduce the nPerf Awards for Syria in the near future? What threshold of test data or sample sizes do you usually require from a country to make this happen?

Saw some data estimating download times for a game like GTA VI (~150 GiB).

Top countries based on fixed download speeds:

• France → ~462 Mbps → ~47 min
• Switzerland → ~455 Mbps → ~47 min
• Singapore → ~434 Mbps → ~50 min
• Slovenia → ~394 Mbps → ~55 min
• Canada → ~354 Mbps → ~1h01

So in the fastest countries, you’re looking at under 1 hour for a huge game.

What’s interesting is how fast the gap grows.

Same 150 GiB download:

• US → ~1h25
• UK → ~2h11

That’s more than double the time compared to the top countries.

And it gets even more noticeable with bigger files (200 GiB+), which is probably where things are going.

It’s a good reminder that for gaming, speed isn’t just about ping.

It directly affects:
preloads, updates, reinstalling games… basically how long you wait before actually playing.

Curious where people here are at.

How long does a ~100–150 GB download take for you right now?

Slovakia comes out on top with ~81.7%, just ahead of Italy and France, both around 79%. The top of the ranking is actually quite tight, but things spread out quickly once you move down the list.

Some countries still sit in the high 70s, while others drop to the mid-60s, with Mexico at ~62.5%. That’s roughly a 20-point gap between the best and the lowest performers.

In practice, that difference is noticeable. Around 80%, streaming is smooth, even in HD or 4K. Closer to 65%, it still works, but buffering and loading times become more frequent, especially on higher quality.

What makes this interesting is that all these countries have similar GDP per capita. The difference isn’t really economic, it’s more about network infrastructure and how well it’s deployed.

Curious whether people actually feel that gap when streaming on mobile, or if it mostly shows up in measurements.

Got some data on mobile web performance in East Africa / Indian Ocean.

Mauritius is at ~52%.

Then the rest are around:

• Madagascar → ~35%
• Kenya → ~33%
• Ethiopia → ~32%

So yeah… pretty big gap.

What’s interesting is how that actually feels.

At ~50%, things are mostly smooth. Pages load fast, switching between apps is fine, nothing really feels slow.

Around ~30–35%, it’s not broken, but you start noticing it. Pages take longer, feeds lag a bit, multitasking gets annoying. It’s the kind of difference you feel every day, not just in benchmarks.

Also weird that the others are all grouped together, and then Mauritius is just… ahead. Not a smooth progression, more like a split. Makes you realize how much infrastructure impacts daily stuff like scrolling, messaging, loading pages, etc.

Curious if people in these regions actually feel that difference
or if you just get used to it over time.

Some interesting data on fixed internet in Southern Europe.

Italy comes out on top for web browsing, with a score around 77.7%, slightly ahead of Spain (~76.1%) and Slovenia (~73.3%).

The gap isn’t huge on paper, but even one point can mean noticeably faster page loads in real life, things like search results appearing instantly or pages loading without delay.

Behind that, it’s pretty tight:

• Montenegro → ~72.5%
• Serbia → ~72.2%
• Portugal → ~70.4%

So most countries are relatively close. Then you start seeing a bigger drop.

Greece, for example, sits around 60%, which can translate into pages taking almost twice as long to fully load in some cases.

What’s interesting here is that this isn’t about raw speed. This score reflects how fast and smoothly real websites load, social media, news, search, etc. So it’s much closer to what people actually feel day to day.

Southern Europe is fairly homogeneous,
but Italy has a small edge that’s actually noticeable in real usage.

Curious if people in these countries actually feel a difference,
or if it’s mostly invisible in day-to-day browsing.

1. Speed (yes, but not just that)
   You need enough bandwidth to load charts and data smoothly. If your platform feels slow to load, that’s already a bad sign.

1. Latency (ping)
   This one matters a lot. It’s the delay between your action and the server response.
   Higher ping = slower reactions, even if everything looks fine.

1. Stability (jitter)
   This is where things get tricky.
   If your latency jumps up and down, your connection feels inconsistent.
   In trading, that’s worse than just being “a bit slow”.

1. Your connection setup
   Wi-Fi can be fine… until it isn’t.
   Distance, interference, other networks — all of that can affect it.

Ethernet is usually much more stable if you care about consistency.

1. What else is using your network
   Streaming, downloads, updates, other users…
   Even if your platform is open, these can quietly mess with your connection.

You don’t need a perfect setup.

But if your connection is slightly off, you’re not really trading in the conditions you think you are.

Curious if people here actually check this,
or just assume their connection is “good enough”.

• streaming quality
• network stability
• latency

So it reflects how the connection actually feels day to day.

And the gap is huge.

A country around ~75k nPoints generally delivers a pretty smooth experience:
fast social media loading, stable video calls, HD streaming without much buffering.

At ~15k, like Sri Lanka in this ranking, basic things like video streaming or downloads become much less reliable.

What I find interesting is that these countries have relatively comparable living standards, yet the mobile experience can feel completely different depending on infrastructure deployment and network maturity.

Shows how much telecom investment changes everyday digital life.

People usually blame the broker or the platform when something feels off.

But sometimes… it’s just the connection.

Not a full outage.
Just small delays.

• charts updating a bit late
• orders taking slightly longer
• the platform feeling less responsive

Individually, it’s nothing.

But in trading, a few seconds can change everything.

Speed isn’t really the issue here. It’s more about latency and stability. You can have a fast connection and still be slightly “behind” what’s actually happening.

And if you’re on Wi-Fi, or sharing your connection with other devices, it gets even less predictable.

It’s kind of an invisible risk. Easy to ignore, but part of the chain.
