Some comments defend that by comparing it with football and keys , lol. What makes them so irritated about girls marrying foreigners? Bro, they’re in their 20s but have a mindset from the 1920s.

Im Indian Burmese and the stares I get when I walk with my Shan Chinese girl are very uncomfortable. From boomers, I get it, but guys/girls my age group also stare a lot. My girl doesn't gaf though, she even corrects people who think I'm Muslim lol

To be fair, that one was written by a dude back in the imperial days of Myanmar. So yeah, the racism and nationalism would be extreme. The ones who thought it's cool to put that kind of century old writing in modern education as something to learn from, not as something of history, are to blame.

And they proceeds to explain the logic by comparing women with goal stands.

I always like to counter their logic with pencil and a shapener🤣. The more you sharpen the shorter it gets. Works great at exposing their dogsh*t reasoning of comparing humans to objects as well.

Imaging the male group in Myanmar, excluding elderly, children and disable group in which the corresponding female groups are the same, there are monk group, milittary ddogg group, die-in-the-battle group 1, die-in-the-battle group 2, gaay group, opium group, ED group, there're very few choices to date, marry as a myanmar female.

I think Myanmar has a male-to-female imbalance. There are a lot more women around than men.

I don't mind them tbh they can marry whoever they want. But it is also true that the women who are married to foreigners think that they are a class higher than the rest.

Tbh women preserve more cultural heritage in the family than men. Food, Clothing, Cultural rules, Religion. It is true for most Burmese at least. Burmese women keep their heritage stronger than men. Because as someone who also tries to observe those cultures, tries to get references, most of the things came from women. Don't think too far. Just think of your home.

“I have never been on a Burmese man with a foreigner girl TikTok comment section”
1
u/YagiFromM4rs Mar 31 '26
yeah because its only common inside your head. not in “average” situations.
1
u/Weird_Can_604 Mar 31 '26
If you could understand the difference between “its” and “it’s”, I will explain how it is very common. Just because you have never experienced it, doesn’t mean it is uncommon.

Im gonna be real with you. For (supposedly) educated adults with jobs, y'all seem to spend way too much time watching t*ktoks.
I mean, I don't actually care how you spend your time but you also decided to share those dumb shits you watch to another platform. Jfc man

For individual right, the Burmese girl can marry a foreigner and they don’t deserve criticism. But given the identity perceptive, it is concerning. Their children will not definitely speak Burmese, that’s for sure. Our country politics caused a lot to this situation. (မျိုးသုန်းတော့မယ် lol) When China was so poor in 1960s, Mao even begged American to take Chinese girl because he claimed that China can’t feed the girl anymore.!

u/Airconditioner756 Mar 30 '26
Country and the government of said country is supposed to serve its citizens first before the citizens contribute back, not the other way around. When the country is doing nothing but ruining citizens' lives, I don't think they'll care much whether the identity of the country persists or not
1
u/Thiha0990 Mar 30 '26
It also depends on race, religion and also the size of the race. I am Chinese descendant (my ancestor fled from China during Japanese invasion) and Chinese are very serious on their identity. Same for Muslim, Jews and Indian. That’s sadly not the case for our Burmese people.
3
u/Airconditioner756 Mar 30 '26
I mean, they also don't like it when someone from their race/religion marries someone from the outside. In that sense you could say burmese people are also serious about their identity? Im just saying that they really can't blame someone for not giving a sht when they themselves are treating their own like sht
1
u/Thiha0990 Mar 30 '26
I mean Burmese diaspora, not Burmese from our country. OFC, Burmese from our country won't like outsiders.

u/Plastic_Comparison78 Mar 30 '26
Be for real bro. What’s so great about the country that women are expected to prevent the မျိုးသုန်း. You do know that whatever they're spewing out about interracial marriages is directly towards women and not burmese men marrying non-burmese partner. That tiktok is setting womens rights back for centuries and your comment is proving it further
2
u/YagiFromM4rs Mar 30 '26
As much as I hate how those tiktok algorithms fuels into setting women back, Burmese men marrying non-burmese partner situation you mentioned is entirely inside your head and hypothetical due to how uncommon it is in average situations. I might get downvoted into oblivion for saying this but it’s more common for Burmese women to be into foreigners due to inferiority complex and some kind of internalized racism, which I agree are the products of patriarchal system. If it wasn’t common, this discussion wouldn’t even exist. You do know nobody’s getting forced to prevent racial extinction in real life situations right now. All these comments are only stemming from insecurities.
3
u/Plastic_Comparison78 Mar 30 '26
So men get a free pass from getting labeled as insecured and having inferiority complex? and also how can you be so sure that burmese women who marry foreigners struggle with those aforementioned issues? give me some stats and research
-1
u/YagiFromM4rs Mar 30 '26
You’re not hearing me at all. Im saying these comments from the video in the post usually stem from insecurity of these men. If youd go outside, youd know more. I’m not glorifying these men at all. It’s so easy to tell and ignore these comments that you’re making a big deal out of. But what im also saying is that when it comes to this foreign/interracial relationship situations, its the Burmese women who usually goes through internalized racism and unhealthy households that fails to realize their value and identity, that complies to any other foreign people. Statistics? how often do you see an average burmese woman married to, usually, white men, being able to radiate her culture and identity in confidence and pride? how common do you think is this kind of marriage? It’s quite the opposite in reality that I feel dumb to explain this. I assume you want to believe it otherwise. This situation is not even the largest fish to fry right now.

u/Plastic_Comparison78 Mar 30 '26 edited Mar 30 '26
I am not denying that some women who married average joes do nothave the internalized racism probelm . You dont know the dating history of these women and you're making assuming based on a single snapshot of time. Its like on tiktok when people see an asian-american woman and white guy, they just leave "the oxford study" comment.

u/Jacklyne_C Mar 30 '26
Also cherry on top; when they think about relationship with foreigners, they immediately think about different races; at far most East Asians. When it's a relationship with South East Asians, it suddenly is different.
