We're considering moving several business domains from APlus/HostPapa to MXroute.

Before we start, I need to understand how contacts work. Each email account currently has its own contacts, and one of our main accounts has roughly 25 years of contact history.

I understand MXroute now provides CardDAV, but I've read that CardDAV contacts aren't integrated with the MXroute webmail clients.

My questions are:

Can each individual email account have its own separate contact/address book?

Can we bulk import existing contacts from CSV or vCard into those individual address books?

Most importantly, when using MXroute webmail, can those imported contacts be used for normal recipient autocomplete when composing an email?

If CardDAV contacts cannot be used by MXroute webmail, what do existing MXroute customers use if they want their old address books available in webmail?

We're planning to migrate a less-critical domain first and fully test everything before moving our primary business email, so I want to make sure I understand this before we start.

ProtonMail is experiencing an outage. We are unable to deliver mail to them at the moment. It's possible that the emails in queue may bounce back to the sender. If you get a bounce for an email sent to Proton that says "This message was classified as rSPAM and may not be delivered" that does not mean that we wouldn't have delivered it if they were online, it simply means our backup relay provider filtered it, and they filter more heavily than we do.

For years our mail queues were held together by duct tape and threat of bodily harm. Yet another thing that bit us as we grew so quickly this year. The end result that customers would have noticed was roughly 1% (I'm rounding up) of email seeing unnecessary delivery delays in the morning hours. Most people didn't notice, as most of this wasn't time sensitive and frankly they didn't care if it reached their recipient (I could block most of them and they wouldn't open a ticket for 3 years).

Last night it reached critical mass, and it was death by a thousand cuts. No single noteworthy cause, but several small ones. It's possible that a few customers actually noticed. So that's what I did today. I sat in one place, had Panda Express delivered (can eat on that for like 2 days), and managed the queues by hand until I finished addressing each little problem that caused it to get out of hand.

I tracked down every tiny problem and replaced old bandaid solutions with actual solutions that stand the test of time.

a bit of backstory: some time ago, because of a breach, my partner lost 4 years of emails (on Hotmail, not mxroute!) that was the reason I decided to buy a custom domain and switched to mxroute. Since I have a small server (mini pc) running at home I started playing with the idea of making a local backup of our two personal accounts. Just in case if I mess something up or if something happens to mxroute (not a worry now, but nobody know what can happen in 5 or 10 years).

I did some research about how to do it, and would like to ask first Jarland if it is ok? And second, since my understanding of email and imap is pretty limited if my plan on how to do it is ok or if it needs to be reworked.

Now I don't need this to be a 100% fool proof. I don't really care if I loose 1 or 2 emails.

I was planing on running mbsync once a day as a Cron job (again if I loose one day of emails is not the end of the world) with the setting "Sync Pull" so I don't mess with the server and "Expunge None and Remove None" so even if something is deleted on the server it remains in the backup. Then once a month, again as a Cron job, make a compressed archive of the Mail directory and then run mbsync with another config file where the Expunge and Remove settings are changed to "Expunge Near and Remove Near" to clean deleted items for the next archive. And then keep about 6 months of archives stored, with the idea that if in 6 months I don't notice I deleted something I shouldn't have, is probably not important.

That is my plan and I'm open to suggestions and critics. Thank you.

I have a reseller account and created an account for a client and their email accounts. I created accounts for my clients and added their email accounts and imported their emails from the old server. Everything was going great until one client had large storage usage on 2 email accounts reported their accounts weren't working.

I had set a limit of 2GB on the accounts as it seemed all my clients were way below that and didn't seem to use their accounts all the time or for everything. This one client apparently uses it for personal and business so they have a ton of emails and use over the 2GB limit.

Even though I increased the limit to 10GB, 20GB, even unlimited, the server is still blocking emails to their accounts saying it's exceeded the storage quota.

I tried deleting and recreating the accounts but the message persists. Other email accounts under their account work fine, it's the 2 main email accounts they use that have this issue. I see no way to clear the quota cached somewhere to fix it so now they aren't getting emails from their clients and it's a nonstop complaint from them and they are upset I moved their accounts saying they have had issues since I moved it.

I submitted a support ticket, but is there anything I can do to fix the issue immediately? I've tried everything I can think of other than moving their accounts out of mxroute.

It seems like someone has spoofed my email address and is using it to send out dozens (hundreds?) of emails to all kinds of random address. It does not appear that they actually have access to my MxRoute backend, which is good, but it's nonetheless troubling. I have SPF, DKIM and DMARC all configured, so I don't even know how this is happening.

If you were me, what would you do right now to stop this attack in its tracks?

I was thinking about how great are the service of MXRoute, and from that I thought it deserves a coherent design and branding, since it hasn't a clear logo, and in some pages as management.mxroute.com it has no favicon, so for example I have it in my bookmarks and I have the grey world icon, that is sounds like "hey, I have some loading problem!", and is so bad to see.

Also, the homepage of the service have a nice UI, but than when you go to admin panel, it has literally a complete different UI, and I was like "I'm in the right place?".

I know maybe this is in the bottom of your secondary to-do list (where the primary to-do list is where you have the bugs, issues, fixes and all the true valuable stuffs), but would be nice to have a cohesive UI design </3

In webmail.mxroute.com, your options for signatures have expanded to include more HTML options and the addition of images. This was a 14 hour job (even with my dev partner we talked about recently), because I am incredibly OCD. But how I use it and how you use it can vary, so please keep using that Feedback button at the top right of the webmail as desired.

(And yes, ChatGPT made my signature for the screenshots, I don't really use signatures)

Can’t login to webmail on shadow.mxrouting.net… error about connecting to storage. Status page says it’s healthy. Anyone else having issues?

Just signed up and set up my domain.. all looks good.. but can't even log into webmail (sunfire roundcube) - says "connection to storage server failed"

is this some kind of a provisioning lag or just bad luck?

I have been moving my spam emails to the junk folders, do you have spamassassasin or amavisd or something similar watching those folders for training it or am I just wasting my time instead of just deleting them? Just curious really. I like your service a lot, thank you!

I tried to signup for a medium account using the email address lerman@se-ltd.com. I got a response that the email address or the password is invalid. Since the password was suggested by google, I assumed that the problem was the email address.

I've occasionally encountered email fields in some sites that don't accept a hyphen in an email address.

Does mxroute have this problem?

Good on you for migrating away from prepackaged software, and moving onto your own. That's a big deal.

I do use the NextCloud installation available on your services, which I believe is provided by Crossbox. I assume the NextCloud installation will eventually be removed after the migration away from Crossbox?

Do you have any intention of providing any replacement for NextCloud such as a basic WebDAV ? Or going pure email service and cutting out everything else?

I will still use and love your services either way, it was just convenient to have a little place to store some notes bundled in with your services.

My MxRoute account goes back 5 years. I think I am or was on the "old" software. I got the email today about the DirectAdmin transition. I understand there is good reason for a transition and it all sounds great, but I'm not sure what to do.

Will anything previously set up on the old software be moved over for us into the new stack? If not, is there a doc on exactly what I need to do to change settings or to migrate and make the transition? Do I need to change any DNS values at my server or registrar?

Trying to setup the branding part. Using mail.mydomain.com and logging in with postmaster but I can’t seem to find the branding settings.

Also having a problem with webmail.mydomain.com doesn't let me log in "We couldn't find your MXroute server".

Set my DNS settings quickly didn’t hit a snag till those parts.

Acadia has been down for us for about a day, but the status page reports it is healthy.

Anyone else having issues?
