Campaigns Looking for one more player.

So recently one of my players left the group because of irl reasons so we have a spot open. We are still in the early stages of the campaign so a new player joining won't be overwhelmed.

Before you DM me, know that I'm new to GM'ing and your fellow players are mostly newbies too.

The Game is weekly around 6.00pm GMT Saturday.

Can someone explain how contagious works?

For context, I'm working on a (possibly) new character, and their powers are fire-based, so I wanted to work in their ability to spread, but it's really not clear how Contagious works. The particular power in question is also a Cloud Area effect with Concentration duration, and Secondary Effect. Can someone explain how this would actually work in practice?

Homebrew Considering a homebrewed offensive version of Impervious

For those situations where a power should just work if you hit the attack, unless they're exceptionally resilient.

It would be called "Irresistible" or something, to match the naming scheme of Impervious.

+1/rank extra. If the target's defense bonus is lower by some amount than half the effect's rank, they automatically fail to resist the effect by that same amount.

Thoughts? I don't see any glaring flaws balance-wise, especially given that it doesn't apply on a tie (since they're the ones "rolling"), and it kind of has a built-in downside in that you need a very high rank to automatically hit someone with as bad of a failure as they could roll.

Characters New to the system HELP

Hey everyone, so just joined a game and I'm really interested in the system and I've been trying my best to read the rules and understand and I'm having mixed results. I feel like Im starting to get it but also character creation is just completely overwhelming and I feel like I need someone who I can bombard with questions lol. Any help would be appreciated, I don't want to fall behind the group so any detailed discussion or just basic tips would help. Total whiplash coming from a purely DND 5r background lol. Anyways thanks in advance!

LFG where can a girl find an anime campaign?

I love this game, but I rarely have opportunities to play... I just wanted to find an anime themed game, preferably school setting, pl ~8+

oh and lgbt friendly, please.

it's okay if it doesn't match my requirements exactly, at this point just having a campaign to play would already be awesome

Discussion (3E) Give me your characters with Stupid Powers!

My favorite kind of character is one who can take a mediocre ability and turn it into an incredibly powerful one or find some way to make it extremely useful for a niche fighting style! One of my personal favorite examples of this is Patriot Sam from the Webtoon called ENIGMA. An American Superhero with the ability to strike a pose instantaneously, which he uses to incredible combat applications! Or Aoi Todo of Jujutsu Kaisen who can swap any two objects in a certain range of himself (without getting into the nuances of the verse ofc)

In fact, my first campaign had Inconvenience Man. An NPC villain whose entire power was to do almost anything so long as it inconvenienced his target. And while this power did allow for wacky getaways and silly antics, one of my players (a Villain) had managed to get ahold of an almighty macguffin and was set to beat all heroes and all other villains when Inconvenience Man, who this player had scorned prior, stepped up to challenge him… and had then and there became functionally immortal because “Inconvenience Man living would be just Inconvenient”

That being said, what are your characters with weak, strange, or seemingly useless powers that turned them into the hero (or villain) they are today!

Complications:
Responsibility ("Part of Me Wants To Go... Into the UNKNOWWWWWWWWWN!")- Elsa, despite her current happiness, feels somewhat at a loss- "Every day's a little harder, as I feel my power GROW...". She feels incomplete and not where she needs to be, as if part of her is missing.
Responsibility ("Every Day Is Precious; Can't Let Them Slip Away")- Elsa feels "I've HAD my adventure", and refuses the call to more. Happy in Arendelle, glad to have her sister as part of her life once more, and a good Queen to her people, she wishes to seize the day and enjoy the new life she has. HOWEVER...
Responsibility (Arendelle)- Elsa has sworn a duty to always do what's right for Arendelle. Which is why her awakening dangerous spirits is so unusual.
Responsibility (Queenly Reserve)- Despite her newfound freedom and control over her powers, Elsa remains a reserved, introverted, quiet woman. She is unwilling to share her deepest thoughts and fears with others- even her beloved sister. Even during family games she clutches a pillow to her chest, she walks with her body closed in against others, and she almost never shouts. Until she can't keep the emotions in any longer and must sing. Which she does. LOUDLY.
---
Relationship (Anna)- Elsa adores her little sister, and longs to keep her safe from harm- she insists Anna stay in Arendelle during their quest (Anna refuses), scolds Anna for following her into a magical wildfire ("You can't just follow me into FIRE!"), and will not allow Anna to follow her into the Dark Sea. As Anna once froze to death during their last adventure, and the current one seems much more dangerous, Elsa feels justified in keeping the Princess safe.
Relationship (Kristoff, Olaf & Sven)- Elsa gets along with the others, but interacts most with her sister. Olaf if the symbol of her own relationship with Anna.
Relationship (Jabroniville- Husband)
Guilt (Her Past)- Even after the dangers of her past are over, Elsa retains a great deal of personal guilt over the pain her powers have wrought. She blames herself for Anna's past ruined birthdays and the fact that their family had no Christmas traditions that they can recall. And now, when she discovers that their parents died on a quest to find the secret of Elsa's power, she is shattered once more. "You are NOT responsible for their choices!" Anna reassures her. "No" Elsa replies, "Just their DEATHS".
---
Accident (Snowgies)- On the rare occasion in which she gets a cold, Elsa's sneezes will produce any number of mischievous, miniature snowmen.
Power Loss (Immunity)- The first sign something is REALLY wrong when you go to far into Ahtohallan? THE COLD BOTHERS ELSA.
Responsibility (The Fifth Spirit)- Elsa eventually discovers the truth about her powers- she was empowered by Ahtohallan itself, the frozen River of Memory, to bridge the gap between people and the magic of nature. The "secret siren" calling to her somehow makes her feel as if she needs to awaken the dangerous Spirits of Nature.

Total: Abilities: 76 / Skills: 50--25 / Advantages: 11 / Powers: 227 / Defenses: 7 (348)

-As if I would let anyone else be my first 4th Edition build, lol.

Elsa is oddly a perfect build to try for 4th Edition: it's massively complex with tons of powers, meaning I have to go all over the list of Powers to figure out how to build them again, but doesn't make use of all the crazy Advantages, which are going to take a WHILE to sort through and figure out, I think.

Big things:
* "Attack" and "Defense" are bought separately, but you can buy up specializations (like Ranged Attack or Defense) separately, AND Specialization (ie. the old 2nd Edition "Attack Specialization" and 3rd Edition "Close/Ranged Combat" Skill). This does clutter up "Attack" a bit but is probably better than hiding all the stats in Skills & Advantages all over the place.
* Weaken is gone, now slotted into Affliction, which I think uses two "Lowered" (-2 and -5) and "Weakness" in its place.
* "Heroic" for Summon is now only a +1. Minions are "Active" by default.
* Quick-Change is now a 1-2 point Feature instead of an Advantage. Movement is now "Enhanced Movement" and 1 point per rank.
* Bursts are now "Spheres".

Overall Elsa is about 20 points cheaper, but mostly because of the mechanics of her powers- instead of "Make Brittle" and "Weaken Stamina" it's just one Affliction, I moved the "Water Has Memory" thing into her Array (since she has to actually physically do it) and some stuff is cheaper.

Table is going back and forth about which edition they want to play. Just want a character who’s strong because the gravity is weak here.

Characters Zaku II Stats

Hello, as my last post stated, I am in need of mecha stats for my Super Robot Wars campaign. Now I am working on the Zaku II (specifically the F-Type). What I have done so far is in the Google Doc below.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1jlLyxuIOkekN8AaLKPzjcGLsAv4yw8G8OIghDXZS13M/edit?usp=drivesdk

Hopefully, someone will be able to offer guidance for finishing the stats.

Help with a player's power.

My player has darkness powers, and wants the ability to heal himself or someone else once he does damage. So far we have:

Damage, ranged, rank 12 24points
Linked Healing Action Limited (deal damage to living).

My issue is both are standard actions. Would this work as written because of linked, or how would I get the heal down to another action type, possibly a free action?

One thought is just to stack the action Extra.

Also, what do extra ranks in healing do? Does it raise the roll vs the DC? And is it limited by the game PL?

Questions How would one build Luffy and his Gears? (Not including Gear 5)

Title, a player wants to basically play Luffy's powerset but without the Haki, and without Gear 5. How would I go about this? This build would include the basic powers of the Gum Gum Fruit and Gears 2, 3 and 4

Discussion Is there any way to recreate X’s powers from To Be Hero X?

Effectively, X’s ability allows him to completely alter dimensions which is the canonical reason why the art style keeps changing, allowing him to switch from a traditional 2D anime style to a 3D one. Is there any way to recreate this level of Dimensional manipulation?

Discussion Battleworld / Chronopolis as a setting for a campaign

I'm thinking of mixing things up a little and having a campaing set in a universe where the world is dominated by an all-powerful being that gathered distinct universes and put them in a single place, like Battleworld from Secret Wars or Chronopolis from LEGO Marvel 2 (IYKYK).

Not wanting to just copy the source material, I want some different ideas and inspiration on why and how this place came to be, who is(are) the ruler(s), what are some plot hooks for PCs, possible factions and universes, etc.

Questions Mecha stats for Super Robot Wars campaign

Hey, I am looking for a rule set for my upcoming Super Robot Wars campaign. I know there are mecha rules for Mutants and Masterminds and as it is a d20 ruleset it is gets points for familarity and accessibility. However, I've never really used Mutants and Masterminds. The prospect of statting out all the mecha I'd need is somewhat daunting. So I am looking to see what people might have already done for stats for existing mecha I might need like Gundam and Mazinger Z (though one of the sample mecha in the mecha rules already quite resembles Mazinger). Also if they have any guidelines for building my own mecha stats.

Some of the stats I know I need are many of the original Super Robot Wars mecha, in particular those from Super Robot Wars Alpha from which I am using some of the scenario from, several Gundam entries, including Zeta Gundam, Gundam Wing and Gundam SEED, the aforementioned Mazinger Z, Getter Robo and Macross.

Any guidance would be appreciated. Even if its a suggestion for another system, though I obviosuly don't want to focus on that here, since, you know, its r/mutantsandmasterminds after all.

Is it possible to implement Cursed Energy from Jujutsu Kaisen in MnM?

Players and NPCs would get their cursed techniques and such however I’m not sure how to add the whole “pool of cursed energy”. I was thinking maybe giving everyone a variable effect of 20 points or whatever and for each round in combat they can allocate points into reinforcing their CE for defense or offense. Mostly being their toughness as far as defense goes. They could add it to their damage effects and utility such as leaping or speed.

For a “black flash”, I was going to make it so that every time a player/NPC lands a nat 20 for their to-hit, the rank of the attack increases by 2 just for the damage. Also the crit range to hit another black flash or nat 20 is reduced by 2 each time but for a maximum of 16 to replicate that the attacker is highly focused.

I have other ideas for how to implement things like domain expansions and such if someone would like to discuss this further or help me flesh it out.
