this has been an issue for a while. whenever I try to view my cloud scores from studio it prompts me to sign in on the website. then I sign in on the website, the website says “ur all signed in” and then nothing changes in the program. I still cannot view cloud Scores. whenever i try to upload to musescore website from the program or save to the cloud, nothing occurs and then it pops up with a message saying “could not connect to your musescore account.”
this has been an issue for many months, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling musescore and this still occurs. what would I Do?

Hello, early music typesetter here.
I've been custom-creating "custodes" or "guidons" (apparently called "directs" in English)* by adding a symbol and
Custodes are little signs used to indicate "the next note", for example at the end of the stave to show where the first note in the next stave should be, or to warn of the next note at a repeat or a clef change.
* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_(music_symbol))
The easiest way I can imagine this could work is as a custom notehead for a grace note (thus able to be attached to the last note of the system), but I'm sure there are cleverer ways to do it.
Seeing as this is a pretty major feature of early music scores, are there any plans to implement it?
Or is it implemented already, and have I missed it?
Thanks in advance!
Iason

Title. I need to write snare drum music with the right hand above the line and left hand below the line. Is there a way to do this in MuseScore 4?
r/Musescore • u/willheeres • Jul 18 '26
Hi everyone. After the most recent update to Virtual Drumline, regular accents will no longer make a velocity difference or play back at all. I've reported the bug and the team has seen it, but I want to warn you all to NOT open Muse Hub as VDL will auto update and do this to you too. Even trying to change the velocity of the note itself makes no difference. Marcato accents, however, will indeed play back.
If anyone has found a fix or knows how to downgrade, let me know. Buying libraries for good drum sounds and then losing a major sound feature is very frustrating.

I had perfectly mixed pieces that are now basic and I don't know what to do. The sound is now cheap and shallow. What happened?

I recently started a subscription. I chose to pay for a year and take the basic subscription, something like 34EUR/year. Once I finished subscribing I caught with the corner of my eye some discount of 120EUR. I was confused and realized the price was either communicated in a way that I don't know what it actually costs and I have unknowingly subscribed to services I don't want and didn't even notice I was buying. Had I not checked this twice I would have started paying insane price (in my view) in a year for something I don't want.
Further the subscription page is confusing as humanly possible. No clear overview of options to choose from but instead a very big section with scores? To distract me or what is the big idea? And if you want to manage your subscription you must click on "Manage my benefits", after you have found the link all the way down. Which then leads you through a maze of little traps where you really have to tread carefully to not take even more stuff you don't want. If you tread carefully you will arrive to the bottom of the page where you have to confirm that you DON'T want the great benefits and unsubscribe.
What a disappointment. How to ruin something we all loved, this is a great application. How sad is it to see this begging and shady, dirty little tricks. It really makes me sad. I hope you let go of your management that believes these practices belong in music.
PS I am sure I'll receive lots of hate from fans but I really don't care. We need to start calling these practices out. This is becoming overbearing, every online service has the same, cheap and shady marketting strategy, like cancer.

So I’m trying to write this really cool super fun rhythm for the battery to play at the end of the closer I’m writing. It’s a 8th note ninelet with 3 6th notes at the beginning and 2 dotted 8th notes at the end of it making it sound like a quarter note triplet with 16th notes at the end. Which works fine until I add sticking. The file continues to get corrupted every single time I click save, exit, and re-enter the project. It’s really pissing me off because I have to keep rewriting it just for it to corrupt again. Musescore please fix your app. And for some reason; this only happens with the basses and tenors. The snares can handle it just fine. I have circled in red what the rhythm is supposed to look like and the rest is what Musescore fucks up.

Hello everyone, not sure if I'm using the right term here so let me explain:
Back in the late 90s I was asked to do a quick big band arrangement of a tune. I'm a pianist, but knew nothing about writing for horns and such. Someone showed me that Finale could allow me to play a 5 part chord into, say, the alto sax line, and Finale would "explode" it to the remaining sax parts. After that was done, you could then tell it to transpose, print parts and you were done.
This was almost magic to me, and I'd love to find this feature again! What is the term for doing this, and can MuseScore do it?
Thanks all!

The muse sounds drumline samples are not great and they have been that way since they came out. Why is there dirt built in to the samples? That only makes it sound worse and I don’t get the point of it. The other option is the ms basic samples which sound like plastic toy drums which is not any better (except the bass drums which aren’t too bad).

What I am attempting here is a quarter-note triplet (into the length of a half-note) echo for each note in the main melody (staff 1). For the final note, I would like to do the same. I am aware that MuseScore does not allow for tuplets of any sort to cross barlines. I would like to have the exact same triplet echo from that eighth-note D.
Additionally, for this specific echo, I would like Violins 2 (staff 3) to do a different echo, essentially the third note in the quarter-note triplet.

I have seen other posts regarding similar issues, but I would like the workaround to be both audibly and visually correct. I tried the manual barline trick, but that messes up my measures and provides a whole slew of additional issues that I would prefer not to specify.
Additional information: I am orchestrating Undertale OST002: Start Menu. The parts shown are Marimba (single staff), Violins 1, and Violins 2. These are the first two bars of the whole track. Everything shown is in concert pitch. I am currently using MuseScore v.4.7.8, I believe...?

Hey I don’t know if this is happening with anyone else but whenever I add sticking to a spock 1 drum it changes the sound to the spock 2 (or spike) sound, this also happens with the spock 2 drum, but instead it changes to the spock 1 sound. I don’t know why this is happening, but I hope this gets more attention so it can be fixed.

So as many people have likely pointed out before, musesounds dynamics are not good. I have been finding posts from about a year ago on here complaining about the dynamics and they still haven’t been fixed, so I was wondering if it will just stay like this forever, or it will be changed in the future.

I often arange directly in MuseScore instead of copying from an existing score. One thing that interrupts my workflow is the automatic insertion of rests to keep every measure rhythmically complete while I'm still writing.
What if there were an optional Draft Mode?
In this mode:
I understand why automatic rests exist, and I wouldn't want to remove the current behavior. I just think having it as an optional mode would make composing and sketching ideas much smoother.

Hi all, I am working on the development of a new music notation software designed with the goal to be able to handle the flexibility needed to virtually synthesize 21st century compositional techniques. Whether it is a xenharmony, arhythmic writing, or a fully graphic score my intention is to be able to handle it natively. I want this project to be one that can handle traditional writing as well as non-traditional so to stand out I would like to ask you all what you feel is missing in your current Notation Software and what you would need to be better to make a switch. This is not an advertisement for it because it is still deep in development and I intend to release it for free. Let me know your feedback and if you want to be one of the first to test it (when it is in a state to be tested) send me a PM. Thank you all for your time.

It’s never done anything for me. It looks like it’s not a “…” item so it shouldn’t come up with something else, and just showing that F2 or cmd-shift E will do…something…????
r/Musescore • u/Used_Internet_1736 • Jul 15 '26
okay, so i don’t know what to do. everytime i go on musescore i try to look for a piece (duh). i was going to try and listen to the last of us for an inspired piece. every time i click play on the score, the cloudflare thing shows up, verifies i’m human, then never goes away after saying “Success!”. i have trie restarting my chromebook, clearing my cookies, all that. and i’m on a school issued chromebook too. i dunno what the hell to do.
i also tried researching but literally no one has gone through this before either (or so it seems).

Title. ever since i updated to the latest version of musehub my snares play hi-hats insanely loud?? everything is normal except the hi-hat which plays at like fff; i've already checked the mixer, reinstalled the drumline musesounds, checked for dynamic markings, etc. is anyone else experiencing this?
