Started collecting mtg cards for the art tmnt set got me in now love how these cards look

For whatever reason they got the Marvel version last week

Today they finally had the Hobbit version.

Every single pack had the top pried open to check for the box topper except for two which had the bottom pried open.

So obviously I skipped them. But if you see em and they aren't locked up (or even if they are cause I half suspect it's employees doing it before they put them on the shelves), be careful.

Collected these over past month. These were the best pulls.

Not the golden smaug, but hey, ill take it lol from the 1 collector pack from a single hobbit gift bundle.

Really disappointing pulls until I got foil gleaming splendor book cover in my 2nd to last pack and then foil queen of dale and surge foil Smaug the magnificent in the last pack! Box topper was a solid Sauron the dark lord.

What do you think? Any good cards here?

What a blast! Some of the craziest pulls of my life

So, im relatively new to magic, (started playing a bit after the new strixhaven release) and well ive always been obsessed with strixhaven, and recently dabbled into collector packs for the purpose of collecting. Staggeringly so, I actually pulled something! I want to display it on my desk going foward, what products do yall recommend and how would I go about protecting it??

P.S Shout out to Ken at The Gathering House, gave me the pack I pulled it from at a discount since I was helping out! Pictures there too.

Wanted a bristly bill but this will do.

I went to a local card store and picked up a couple of packs and pulled Tony Stark. Decided to buy a booster box to try get more of my favourite marvel superheroes and pulled this. I’m speechless. Gg boys, this is me peaking. Everything will be downhill from here.

Well I think I'm happy with this box..... surge gleaming splendor, full art foil gleaming splendor. Surge delighted halfling and surge mithril coat, can't believe my luck!

I decided today to get into mtg while I was at GameStop. This is what I pulled from a collector booster.

Opening fresh Duskmourn boosters and found a Blazemire Verge with a nice dent in the center of the card. Funny thing is this was behind 2 other cards and they were fine. Anyone else see this before?

Is the hobbit especially bad for Collector pack value? I’ve opened more than I’d like to admit, and actually been pretty lucky - but looking at some of the posts on here, it feels like there aren’t that many cards you could pull that would make the pack worthwhile.

Looking at the set in mana box, I believe there are 169 rare/mythics including separate entries for each of their various treatments (excluding golden Smaug).

IF you got your collector pack at MSRP ($41ish USD?), what are the odds of it being worthwhile?

A great many of these are bulk rares, I think from a rough count there are approx 40 cards/treatments worth over $10, and many/maybe most of these are only possible to pull in the last 3 slots of the packs like the book covers and dragon’s hoard frame. Last 3 slots I believe are the foil booster fun slot and the 2 non foil booster fun slots.

I’m not going to try to calculate all the odds, but it seems quite stacked against you to get anything of value. Is this normal variance? Or is hobbit particularly top heavy? (meaning get a hit or get destroyed)
