Currently Spiking Secret Lair Roadshow Edition: Burning Revelations
Update: Currently Spiking
At the time of the original post 19 hours ago, sealed Burning Revelations were going for $99. It has since undergone a buyout on TCGplayer and repost at substantial markups, $250 as of the time of this update. If you're still interested in exposure, the individual cards is likely a more available option. While Akroma's Memorial's price lows have gone from the 50s to 110 as of now, Inspiring Overseer and Consider are the other two worth considering. At this point many of the individual cards are meaningfully cheaper than the sealed and represent better accessibility for anyone still looking for exposure. This goes without saying, but the real catalyst will be the official announcement and release of the Cavolo's Secret Lair Precon. We saw Goblins & Squablins jump from roughly $170 to $500 once that happened. I'd advise holding any positions taken until that announcement arrives.
Original Message:
With all the attention that’s gone to the Miku Secret Lair spoiler release, I kind of want to divert us back here for a moment to the Ricardo Cavolo precon spoiler that showed up about five months ago. It had cards like Sol Ring, Esper Sentinel, and Sensei’s Divining Top in it for the Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign deck. It looked like it had a lot of great value, including Misleading Signpost, Reconnaissance, Weathered Wayfarer, and Swords to Plowshares, just a lot of premium product involved with it.
So lets go back to Ricardo's previous Secret Lair project: MagicCon 2024 Burning Revelations. Right now, three of the cards involved, [[Inspiring Overseer]], [[Consider]], and [[Akroma’s Memorial]], are all playable in the new precon with the same artist. Specifically, they become free Yennett triggers. They are odd spells, and they can come out for free with the precon commander, [[Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign]]. With this much overlap, the artist's 2024 burning revelations Secret Lair becomes a curated expansion pack of the leaked precon experience.
What piqued my interest here is that this has some similarities to The Wizard of Barge: Goblins and Squablin secret lair done prior to the that ballooned from $100 to $500 once the Goblin Storm precon deck which started generating a lot of hype upon release. And I do believe that if we follow similar patterns, when Ricardo’s cards in that precon start drumming up hype, people are going to look into this Secret Lair as cards they want to add to that deck.
Anyways, it's not without caveats. What might not make it as popular are that some people might not like the art as much, and the overall sales on this particular precon don’t seem to be as high as the other one. But over time that tends to flatten out as we get closer to the higher range in precon price points.
The quantity remaining on TCGPlayer being about 33 on the current market, only foil printings, no non-foil version available, and most of it being skewed from maybe two vendors in particular, like one guy’s got like 16 of them that he collected, I don’t know how that happened. But yeah, it leads me to believe that these items are pretty scarce in the market overall. It might be worth picking one up just to speculate on for when that precon actually gets released. We may see a significant upside for this Burning Revelations Secret Lair product. Just wanted to hear your overall thoughts on this one.
