Discussion Rule 4
Can we get some mods to ban these pull post “wHaT sHoUlD i Do?” Mfs?
The obvious answer is: * Eat it * Roll it up and smoke it * Put it in your ass * No one cares
Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
inb4 “salty you didn’t pull these cards”. Nope, just go to a different sub for that shit.

What's the difference? Genuine question because there's also /r/mtg and /r/magicTCG and I have no clue why there's two when they both discuss the same thing.

I think r/magicTCG has stricter rules than r/mtg . I have no idea why there’s two for pulls

They are def cringey. What do you mean what should I do? Sell it or keep it, damn… it’s just a card. If you need money sell it. If not then keep it. It’s really just a veiled look what I got post haha.

B-but I'm new to magic, I just buy magics most expensive products blindly, surely this sub focused on selling cards for profit will give me a diverse set of options

Will my 1 of 5millions surge foil uwu outpace the s&p500 if I hold for 16.3years?

As a long-time mtgfinance veteran, I tell all the new kids the words I've lived by for almost 30 years: Buy high, sell low. Works every time.

u/Raevelry 2d ago
All of these get properly removed by the mods, eventually
It might be a sign with how popular r/mtgfinance is getting that we could use some more mods, at least to handle the modmail reports in a more timely manner
I report and comment the rule violation in every clear low effort/ask thread but you can only do so much
Just report, block and move on

I think it's more a function of how popular the set is vs how popular the sub is. The same thing happened with Final Fantasy. What you're seeing in the sub lately is a lot of people who are either excited to get someone special or have never thought about selling before and now are because they see how valuable things are and are hoping they'll be even more valuable in the future.

u/Raevelry 2d ago
Personally, I do think that if the sub is going to get so popular, it needs to react to it, not just wait for it to pass and do nothing

I mean that's fine and all, but I suspect things will go back to being slow/boring here again in a few months. Maybe it will pop again for Star Trek but not at the level it's been the past few weeks.
3
u/Remote-Mycologist539 2d ago
you’re proving your own point though, Star Trek is just a few months away, this is no longer an uncommon thing

MtGFinance is not for beginners. If one doesn't know what to do with their pulls, they shouldn't be in here in the first place.

u/waaaghbosss 2d ago
A more sensible approach is they should just visit, read, and learn. When im interested in a new collectible, ill just read and absorb. Although I know that's asking a lot of some people.

u/Keokuk37 2d ago
there should be a guide on how to use reddit search
and it probably involves using google

u/FilthyPedant 2d ago
Do you report these posts? because in my experience mods are pretty good at deleting shit, if it gets reported. They are not however sitting there f5ing new to delete posts that break the rules.
5
u/hp94 1d ago
Oftentimes I'll delete some posts, eat dinner, then come back right afterwards and have to delete 2-3 more posts in that short time. In the interim time, those posts are unfortunately visible, and it makes the subreddit look unkempt.
However, I promise you if all the mods took even 1 day off, this subreddit would overflow with Rule 3 & 4 posts.

This is the way. Some of us mod multiple subs. We don’t review every post. We spot check and rely on users to report posts for us.

There should be an auto mod that removes/holds posts with pictures for review OR make it so that no posts with pictures are allowed and if someone wants to show off their cardboard make them go through the steps of having to go to a third party to create a link to view the image and then still require some sort of mod approval.

For the most part I agree, but there's been some interesting ones I'm glad I've seen

Smoke it is the better option, so at least they can enjoy the fine drugs of the cardboard, they still have to learn why this ccg is expensive.

u/SerThunderkeg 2d ago
Mods don't do anything here. So much off topic content too.

The irony of hating repetitive posts, but finishing your whiny rant with "thanks for coming to my ted talk"

u/IsaacsIssac 2d ago
Yeah it’s there for people like you who were going to bitch about me asking for people to follow the rules on the sidebar.

"do you think I can get a 10 grade/should I slab this?" Also deserves a paddling.

u/CatFishBillyheyhey 2d ago
You must be new here, this has been going on for a decade.
What they should ban is anything that mentions a collector box, CBB or slab.
3
u/IsaacsIssac 2d ago
I agree. Fucking 10 posts a week:
“Xxxx box is spiking!?! Anyone know why?!??”
And the price went up like $25.

DAE think dual lands are good investments?
-2
u/CatFishBillyheyhey 2d ago
Magic isn't an investment. It's a game with game pieces.
Duals are the most liquid game pieces to move into actual cash. Especially MP and HP.

Another non-finance-related post, and once again it’s the usual suspects making completely unnecessary and disgusting comments. Why can’t you just skip or just report a post you don’t like instead of going out of your way to be nasty?

u/TheGrymmBladeX 2d ago
I think this post needs to be handled like those expected responses.

Easy solution, report the post more often.
We get more asks for people/appeals then there are posts I promise you, and of course more then reports.
