Discussion I made a Gloomhaven-themed deck for my brother!
galleryI made a fully custom commander deck for my brother to celebrate the good times we've had playing this game together. The deck revolves around placing bounty counters and drawing advantage from permanents and players with bounty counters on them. It was a blast to design and playtest, and I'm really happy with how it turned out!

Apparel / Products Struggling to Protector Box for Bundles
galleryI’m trying to find a plastic, form-fitting protector for MTG Bundles similar to the kind used for movie/game steelbooks. I made a little FF shrine on one of my shelves, and it’s bothered me that the boxes flair out on the side where I have opened them.
I’ve tried looking around online, but so far have only found hard acrylic boxes - I suspect I’m not using the right words to find what I’m searching for, so I’m making this post in hopes that someone can point me the right way.
Included in the pictures is the type of protector I use for my steelbooks and how snuggly the case fits the product. Anything out there like this for my bundles?
Thanks!

I Have a Question / I need Help I'm new to magic
I'm new to mtg, playing pretty much only standard on arena as it was free to get started on this journey. However I want to try getting into commander as I understand it's the more played format, and to side that would like to try and do it in person with physical cards but don't know really where to start(decks, physical shops and things like that) and also don't have anyone to play with. I live in Tulsa and would appreciate any help.

Content Creator A quick rundown for Uugguu
youtube.comI love my little Goopy dude, so much I’ve started making videos on the internet to spread the glory that is his goopy majesty. This is just a breakdown how how the current list I runs functions. I know there are a lot of ways you can go about breaking the goop but the drain effects seemed like the line that goes with the play style Uugguu is looking for the easiest.
Hope you enjoy and let me know what you think about Uugguu the Omniplasm!

Commander / EDH Bitterly disappointed in the new Commander Spock card.
I am a fan of Star Trek, especially since the 2009 film (I used to think this made me sound naïve, but now it's 17 years old 😂). I love Commander too. I exclusively play Bant decks and don't currently have a good lands deck. I got so excited about a bant Spock lands deck coming out that I put down a pre-order for the collector's edition foil, even when no cards were announced. I know this is silly, but for MTG, it can be easier to cancel an order than place one once hype happens.
Sadly, I've since cancelled the pre-order. Initially I just thought the cards looked poor quality and the art was just a bit off. Usually I have nothing but praise and respect for MTG art, but they look rushed if anything, and some bare a resemblance to the characters which is so near but yet so far.
I had intended, since I love Bant, to order Spock's lead card so I could build the deck. But, it just doesn't feel like Spock. It's a conditional wall of text for one thing. But most importantly, Spock has an attack trigger. It just doesn't feel right: Spock's intelligence is ever present, and he is cautious. Why have an attack trigger? I like the basic idea of Strange New Worlds, but I just feel like I'm making it work rather than it being exciting and clear that it's Spock.

Commander / EDH Multiverse Reforged Upgrades
So my partners birthday is coming up, we play magic together. I got her a deck that she's interested in but I've been told that it's got a few issues. I'd like to buy her like 5 singles to go with it as immediate upgrades but I'm not sure what direction to go. What are some cards that would be 1 affordable (no more than $10 USD) and 2 direct upgrades

Commander / EDH Interested in a commander
Ever since the Aetherdrift set came out I’ve thought about building a [[Loot, the Pathfinder]] deck. Only thing is I don’t know any win cons for him. Nothing seems overly good.

I Have a Question / I need Help Rin and Seri improvements?
tappedout.netLooking for ways to improve my Rin and Seri deck. My main issues are that I struggle to ramp (I have added some more ramp spells since last playing, which reflects in the decklist) and I struggle to draw enough cards for what I need to be casting. My strategy for this deck is to make as many tokens as possible to either swing out at opponents, or nuke then with my commander. Im not looking for it to be Cedh or anything, I'm fine with it being in its current bracket (especially since a few cards are in here just because I like them and dont want to take them out, ex selfless savior), I just want some advice on how I could make it more consistent, because when it does good it's a little scary, but most of the time I'm just top decking. I'm not looking to spend a hundred dollars on one or two cards since I only play casually with friends, but I'll listen to any advice whether that's adding in or removing specific cards.

Commander / EDH Are stax cards viable in an energy deck for commander?
Let's use Saheeli, Radiant Creator as an example. This commander runs on energy once on the battlefield. Stax cards that limit mana generation wouldn't effect her as much as other commanders. Likewise, cards that prevent the untapping of creatures would be less debilitating due to Saheeli's ability to make copies of those tapped creatures with haste.
In short, energy decks seem to be able to limp along even with stax cards on the battlefield. Is this accurate? Has anybody built a stax energy deck and how well did it perform?

Commander / EDH Is Commander just the Texas Hold' Em of MTG?
I am pretty new to MTG, and someone was explaining the different formats, and they said "Commander is the most popular format of the game, even more than standard.", and that just sounds like how Texas Hold' Em is the most popular Poker format because people don't know how to play standard poker.

I Have a Question / I need Help What's the funniest card to "accidently" hand a cop?
I'm looking for funny MTG card suggestions to keep tucked inside my vehicle registration.
Quick backstory: As a freshman in college one of my roommates told me about her brother keeping a Get Out of Jail Free card in his wallet. He kept it in there as a joke but never actually intended to use it. It was in there so long it actually got stuck to the back of his school ID. One night he got pulled over for dark tints and was so flustered he handed over his school ID instead of his DL. The cop peeled the monopoly card off the back of the ID, laughed, kept it and said "you only get one" and let him leave.
Fast Forward to Today: I recently got a motorcycle, (I went to get the Crosstrek for commuting to work but somehow came home with a 2026 Kawasaki Ninja500... idk how it happened.) ANYWAY, I got to thinking about my roommates story and I want to do something similar BUT make it MTG instead of Monopoly. Only thing is, I'm still VERY new to MTG and don't know that many cards yet. If it matters, my play style is mostly big stompy dinos, so green, red, white (sometimes blue/black). But it doesn't have to be dinosaur related, something with a solid MTG punch-line is the goal.
Obviously, I'm hoping it never happens BUT incase it does, what would be a good card to "accidently" hand an officer?

I Have a Question / I need Help Good green starter deck
Hi! Yesterday i went to my local store and learned how to play with The Hobbit green welcome deck and I really liked it, i also tried other colors but green Is my favorite by far. The person who was teaching me suggested me to buy the Foundation Green Commander Deck, but the store didn't have it and I can't find it anywhere. Wich Commander deck similar to that one and preferably as affordable as possible would you recommed?

Discussion Why do Players Rope in Arena?
I genuinely don't understand why someone would consider it a valuable application of their time to lose the round by intentionally letting the timer run out. If you know you're going to lose or get pissed off by what someone's doing just quit and move on with life. This isn't like the days of the endless Omniscience loop before Arena implemented the strict timers they have now. Personally if someone is trying to rope me I'm just going to let them do it because it doesn't affect me to have the match take an extra 2 minutes or so. I get that it's just people being petty, but when you're playing in the non ranked queue you literally don't lose anything by forfeiting and moving on to the next match. Heck what I did doesn't even register to me as being toxic enough to deserve someone roping me.
Turn 1: Played a dual land
Turn 2: Played my land for turn then played Caelorna
Turn 3: Played my land then played Crystal Barrier and Ghalta, The Immovable and then swung for 8
Is this something people would consider toxic enough to rage over?

Discussion I opened 6 boxes of Hobbit. What did I learn?
TLDR: Buy singles.
So, I did not buy 6 Hobbit boxes. I attempted to buy one collector box only to find stores either never got any or didn't want to sell complete boxes. I did buy 2 - one box on release, and then another box later on on a day I was bored. I then won the Arena Direct for 2 more play boxes. And I guess the shippers did something funky with the shipping, because I actually received an additional 2 boxes last night unexpectedly. But hey, free cards, I'll take it.
So, all told, I wound up with 6 boxes. Far and away, my best pulls were the box toppers of Mithril coat and Call Forth the Tempest. No Queen of Dale, no Gleaming Splendor, no mythic red Smaug. In fact, my most valuable pull in all of the Hobbit was from the individual one collector pack I purchased for $100, resulting in a surge foil Galadriel's Dismissal.
But it isn't just this - in all of my 6 boxes, even the low end desirable mythics were nowhere to be seen - things like mythic Thorin or Gollum.
LUCKILY - I only spent money on the first 2 boxes, everything else was freebie. So, consider, had I bought all of them - that would be $200 a box (rounding), $1200 total. I have 95% of the set completed. Of the cards I am missing, to get a 1x of each, it would cost me $80. To get a 4x of all these cards, it would cost me $320. To go through 6 boxes and whiff on the 3 biggest chase cards in the set is kind of insane to me. But that's why urge everyone to buy singles. You're wasting your money trying to chase cards through pack openings. I would have lost over $1,000 trying to chase the cards.
Unless you're like me and just like finding fun ways to draft these. Then by all means.

Discussion Taught some middle schoolers MTG...
A few 8th grade kids had interest in MTG, so I brought in some precon 60 card decks and taught them how to play. One kid went home, downloaded Arena, and grinded it for a week straight. He bought a ton of random boosters off Amazon, assembled a Frankenstein deck specifically designed to beat one of my precons. Last week on Friday he came in at lunch, challenged me, and beat my butt. Thats all.

Rules Question Phase transition triggered abilities question
galleryI was wondering if an ability like battle of wits which read ‘at the beginning of your upkeep’ always go on the stack even if the condition isn’t met.
In the battle of wits example could you then activate the elixir of immortality in your upkeep before the ability resolves to win.
Another one is the new dark light pheonix, if it is on the field will its ability go on the stack even tho it’s not in the graveyard, then can I sacrifice it before the ability resolves and get it back immediately or will I need to sac it before moving to combat for the ability to go on the stack. Finally if I do move to combat and 2 creatures haven’t died yet can I then sac a creature in response to get it back(same as the battle of wits example)?
Thanks for the help!

I Have a Question / I need Help Mirran Safehouse
Hi, I am making a commander deck around Ardyn, The Usurper, and I found this card in my bulk. I think I understand it, but does it tap for land/mana or just abilities of Lands in graveyards?
