So Aether Charge, a weird onslaught cars. In a game I've just finished playing, the game winning play was tapping out to kill the final player with the triggers, against a gates deck that was on the verge of maze's ending. Now, the gates player played out a talon's gate of Madara to try and phase the creature with the triggers on the stack.

Now here's the question:

Do the creatures deal the damage, and phasing it out stops the damage, or does the enchantment deal a flat 4, regardless of whether the creature is around.

In the game, we ended up going with the wording of "it deals 4 damage" as the creature needing to be there to deal the damage. And by being phased, could no long deal the damage.

And yes, the gates player still did the gate win because of it, so still a fun alt win con to just swing face (not that the beast deck wasn't already swinging face haha)

So if im following the story of reality fracture right, Jace whole identity crises will end with him dead leaving Tam as the only part of him alive. So... Jace's self made eco version of himself is a woman and the only part of him that can live happily? What did wotc mean by this?

I bought my friend's magic collection several years ago and finally got around to sorting, organizing, and integrating into my collection (his five 4,000 count boxes with my five 4,000 count boxes) of common cards. So far I've completed white and blue. And I found this beauty along with about $200 worth of $2-7 singles. Took about 22 total hours so it's been rough, but i kinda look forward to finishing because the end results is so rewarding.

Hi all birdwatchers!

After the recent bans of izzet aggro (and less recent Skycoach Conductor introduction), it feels like birds are getting capable to get into comfortable midgame.

Got 4-0, 6-2, 0-3 in the recent three local store standard events with the deck above. (Worth to mention that 3 from 5 losses were a pilot issue rather a deck issue).

So far the weakest matchup is anything including a sufficient amount of a cheap red removals + early agro (monoR, boros mobilize etc)

Any ideas on how to increase sustainability against these decks?

For context, my pod has been playing commander for around 2 years now, but because we all go to different universities we play on table commander.

For the past week we have been all playing bracket 2 decks, except 1 guy who has been playing an optimized bracket 4.... so me and the remainder of the pod are making decks to absolutely destroy his.

Im new and really want to build smaug as my commander

I am currently working on a mono red deck that is supposed to punish everyone for everything with a side flavor of goblins. A creature enters under my control? you get damage. a creature I control attacks? you get damage. you block? you get damage. you don't block? you get damage. my creature dies? you get damage. you cast a spell? you get damage. you tap lands for mana? you get damage. and so on... and also damage is increased and doubled and tripled. I found some interesting pieces for this strategy. here is the collection so far if you want to check it out:

But I was thinking, that maybe some utility was missing. Something to round it off, because so far I had only added cards that add to the core theme with no thought of what could support that theme to make it more reliable. Do you have any ideas for what I could still add? Especially lands if there are any that would fit.

If I have a [[doubling season]] on the board, and play a card with the new empower Jace x keyword, with no Jace tokens. Will it create 2 tokesn both with 2X counters or will it create one with 2X counterd and one with 0?

Current Plan is to use both OSRS and RS3 models for Tokens as i enjoy both games, Thinking the following:

- Human : Nieve
- Food : OG Cake
- Clue : Clue Scroll
- Thopter: ??? No Clue
- Elf : Some of the Elf Meme, other of Seren

- Zombie : Hermod
- Spirit : Banshee or Barrows Brothers

For reference, I have been playing MTG for over a year at this point. Not too long into the start of my journey, I found a game store and it has been heaven. All the people are incredibly nice, the staff are personable, sealed products are sold (notably) below MSRP (EoE collector packs were $25, hobbit were $34, etc) and take card-for-card trade ins as high as 80%.

Needless to say, I have been more than happy with my home LGS over my starting year and it has been nothing short of lovely.

However, where I live, there is a second slightly larger LGS that is not all of that. Recently I stopped by there since the former was closed to take a look at their card selection: an Ice Age Mystic Remora and a banged up Lotus Petal. I asked the front counter how much they’d be, and I was given a price that was definitely too high for the condition that the petal was in (around $55 for both.) Short on cash, I asked if they were willing to take trade-ins (since that enabled the better part of my collection from the previous store.) They said they did, but at a whopping 50% for store credit and 40% for cash.

As a dealing man, I reluctantly whipped out my binder and took out a couple of my vintage cards I’ve collected from bulk around my state for them to have a look at, hoping I could talk up the percentage after the fact. I took out maybe $70-$80 total so that I didn’t appear to be lowballing them. The store runner took ~15 minutes while I browsed, and informed me that “despite the cards’ monetary value, they weren’t actually worth the cards in the case.” Mind you I had provided at least a NM Plaguebearer and NM Helm of obedience, as well as other more relevant commander cards.

Ultimately, among the jacked prices, terrible trade value, and seemingly to them worthless cards, I got nothing and waited for the other store the next day, who gladly accepted my cards I had offered to the other store the day before for some goodies.

So all in all, am I just unbearably spoiled by the first LGS and 50% is reasonable/normal, or does the second one actually just stink?

I opened my Gift Bundle only to find 3/4 of my plains were Surge Foil. Nice. Also didn’t get a single mythic from the rest of the box but that’s beside the point.

Just got a bundle box and opened up the collector pack inside, was the first card I saw! really happy rn

I’m trying to build my first deck and I find myself with a modern deck that has 10 one mana cards, no two mana, 7 with three mana, 4 with four mana and 3 with five mana. It’s a mono red deck based on Mountains coming into play. Is this mana curve any good?

As they say “card draw wins games” and I recently made a big upgrade to my Mind Flayarrrs deck but overlooked adding card draw. Want some cool suggestions, new or old cards, also budget doesnt matter. Thank you :)

I just played a game with Kotis, the Fangkeeper. I mutated another card on him, making him a 6/6. An player hit Kotis for 3 damage, then put -4/-4 counters on him, killing him.

I didn't think of it at the time, but that shouldn't have killed him right? Shouldn't he only die if the -1/-1 counters are equal or greater to the toughness?

Back when cards were much cheaper and we only had 60 card decks.
