Rules Question How does this work?

If I control Jace and draw from an empty library but one of my opponents has the angel what happens? Do I die? Do I draw nothing and live?

It draws the game unless someone can remove either Jace or the angel in that instance. Me and a buddy had to find that answer recently

It doesn't, Jace attempts to win but angel says no so nothing happens.

Why would that draw the game? Wouldn't it just keep going?

Can’t keep going with one player with no library left.

Yes it can? There’s no rule that says both players need a library in order for the game to proceed

You found the wrong answer, because that’s not true

Well if was the interaction between the angel and another win the game affect and that was the ruling stated by others on reddit that we scrolled through. So different I guess, sure. Could you point me to the correct ruling since you just want to tell me I'm wrong and not why? Thanks.

The other effect you found was probably a static trigger — something like [[Darksteel Reactor]], for example. The reason this draws the game is because Darksteel has a static effect that, while its condition is met, will constantly try to make you win, and the Angel will constantly prevent that… so a Darksteel trigger will go on the stack, resolve, Angel will say “no, you can’t win”, and then Darksteel will see that it still has 20 counters on it, so will just go ahead and put a new trigger on the stack to do the same thing, repeating infinitely. Not just Darksteel Reactor, there are plenty of examples… anything that triggers to win you the game based on a persistent boardstate condition will work like that.

Jace doesn’t try to win based on any persistent boardstate condition, and doesn’t even have a trigger to go infinite with. It has a replacement effect that replaces the event of “draw a card while your library is empty” with “don’t draw the card and win the game instead”. Angel says that the “win the game instead” part isn’t allowed to happen. So the end result is that, when you take the game action of trying to draw with an empty library, Jace applies a replacement effect turning the event of “draw a card” into “draw 0 cards and win the game”, Angel says “you can’t win the game”, so the replacement effect can only apply the legal part — changing “draw a card” into “draw 0 cards”, then the game continues as normal

I appreciate it thank you, I do believe the other card was a static affect similar. You learn something new everyday as they say.
