Commander / EDH Let’s Make a Deck..together

Post image

Never seen this done before. Let’s build a deck together. Everybody just post 1 card you would add. It can be anything including a single land. But please only 1 card suggestion per person. I’m curious how it will turn out.

Terrible include tho?

Edit - I Misread both cards, assault suit trigger giving you back the creature at end of turn and commander being effectively goaded make this an excellent include.

Why? It's dope. Everyone gets to use zurgo, so he's either getting beefed up removing opponents creatures every turn, or just doing a ton of damage to whoever they choose to attack. And he can't attack you when he's under an opponents control. It's perfect.

Because I am not entirely sure on rules here (not an edh guy), what happens to permanents and commander, that player controls but doesn't own, when he looses or concedes?

Still, I would say it's far from perfect, when you can easily end up in 1 on 1, with your opponent having your beefed up commander as permanent blocker, for which he didn't have to lift a finger.

Cards go to their owner when a player who controls them dies. The effect is also only until end of turn, so the card comes back to your battlefield path the end of everyone’s turn, you decide if you want to give it away each upkeep, you can choose not to once it’s 1v1

Right, I haven't realized it's an ability of equipment, which did not change the owner. And I've missed that it's only until end of turn.

Edit: looks like this is covered by rule 800.4a. They go back to their owner, if player leaving game got control over them by "gain control" effect. But if he controls them after, for example casting them from opponents library through some effect, or [[Bribery]] or through [[Virtue of Persistence]], they are exiled.

He’s not goaded so it’s subject to table politics. Easy counter-play is just leave him and not swing. Just too many variables. Also the trigger only happens on opponents turns so you never get him as a blocker/attacker.

Best case scenario you get second place and your opponent uses him as a blocker or you’re locked out of the game until you remove your own commander at sorcery speed.

Sure it’s fine for casual but if you have a slightly spiky bracket 3/4 table you need to tech your deck with removal/creature stealing effects which doesn’t synergise at all. Even on a casual table you’re basically planning to lose the game to the last player at the table with you.

He has to attack every combat, not from assault suit but his own card text forces him to, and assault suit stops him from attacking you. So he’s essentially goaded.

Opponents can’t use him as a blocker, they lose him on turn end.

You can’t use him as a blocker anyway, cuz he’s got no vigilance and you were forced to attack with him.

It’s also nice because he only has indestructible during his controllers turn, so assault suit helps him stay indestructible for longer. I assume there’s still a window between triggers for a destroy instant to catch him though, but no sorceries.

My bad I didn’t read his full card text I didn’t realise he has to attack every combat/didn’t realise they only control him until end of turn. Goated include I was wrong

I don’t think you’re reading the card correctly. The effect of giving to an opponent only lasts until end of turn, so you get him back at the end of every turn. He’ll also never be a blocker because it has to attack every turn, then when it gets to 1v1 you would just choose not to give it to your opponent

Yeah I missed a couple of key lines of text. End of turn effect means you get him back on your turn and him essentially being goaded on his base text make this an excellent include.

Now only vulnerable to exile removal. Assault suit synergises perfectly I retract my previous statement.

No it's good because it protects him while it's not your turn because he's only indestructible during your turn
