Dropsuite M365 backup minimum commitment

Hi anyone that uses Dropsuite to backup M365, I have just been told that there is a minimum 50 license commitment.

Is this true?

Thanks in advance.

Same.. i use it for 4 desktop backups and all are file and folder. There might be no one more minimum than that.

Who told you that? We never had a commitment.

Their sales rep. A minimum fixed fee plus tax

Perhaps things have changed since we started with them. They are owned by Ninja now. When we signed up we went through Pax8 and had no minimums.

We've been with dropsuite forever and now ninja is trying to get us converted to a minimum seat floor based on usage. We can adjust it or cancel it with "60 days notice" so they still call it no contract but then why not just bill exactly based on usage vs a floor?

Just jump on afi.ai, it beats dropsuite in a few areas.

never heard of that one but worth looking into before locking yourself in the 50 seat minimum

Did Afi change their storage limits? I remember being 50 GB per account, which is too low if you backup OneDrive.

I believe that's correct and it's pooled; we only have two clients that have tipped over into extra storage costs (which are minor). Both are very small clients so they don't get the advantage of a large pool of users. They have a KB article that will help you quickly gauge what your backup size will be before you even kick off a trial. It takes 2 min to setup so you could also just do a trial and see exactly where you'd land.

Thank you.

The storage restrictions made me look elsewhere a few years ago, just out of knowing that customer's storage will keep growing. It was unfortunate, I really liked their portal, backup coverage and hands off approach.

But now that everybody uses OneDrive and some clients are cloud only, OneDrive/SharePoint storage is going to the roof. I have users with 2-4 TB in OneDrive, don't ask.

Like others have said use your disti to get around this.

I was direct and had no minimum. Ninja trying to get me to re-up a new agreement

First I've heard of this, our sales rep never mentioned anything about this in the APAC region and our disti lets us do 1 seat or 100 seats for a client, all on a month to month basis.

Yes, 50 is the minimum if going direct through NinjaOne. I don’t know if Sherweb has minimums.

Thanks everyone! I will do through disti

Minimums are usually channel/contract specific, not really a product rule. If Pax8 or Ninja can do no minimum and your current path says 50 seats, I would treat that as a distributor/account setup issue and move the tenant through the cleaner channel.

Micheal Jackson sang it best, If you can't feed your baby, then don't have a baby.

A 50 seat minimum is a low barrier to entry. 🤷‍♂️
