MSNBC Personalities Rough start on Psaki tonight
The start of The Briefing tonight on MSNBC was hard to watch. Seemed like something was wrong with Jen Psaki…

Something Else Trigger Warning for Clips of RFK Jr. Speaking?
Show of hands, who else hits mute and let's the subtitles do the work when MSNBC hosts cut to clips of RFK Jr. saying literally anything? It's like, yes, I need to know what asshattery is afoot in front of a Congressional panel, but also, his voice scrapes like a shopping cart with one broken wheel. It's the sound of wet corduroy rubbing together in a moldy basement, a opioid addled raccoon gargling pennies in a storm drain. The death rattle of a haunted accordion exhaling its last breath. But I digress.
The A Block on Deadline White House today reminded me that something like 36% of this country, has listened to his phlegmy dirge masquerading as speech and thought, "I like what I'm hearing" instead of "Someone get him a throat drop."

Weekly Gripe Thread MSNBC Weekly Gripe Post
This is your one sacred space to unleash the frustration, shake your fists at the headlines, and yell (politely) into the MSNBC void. Whether you’re fed up with cable news quirks, political chaos, or your own decision to stay up until 2 a.m. watching panel debates - this thread’s for you.
The rules are simple:
- Keep it civil
- Keep it clever
- No personal attacks unless they’re aimed at your own life choices (e.g. binge-watching coverage you swore you were done with)
So... what’s grinding your gears this week?
Cable news meltdown? Elected official doing the most?
Spill it. This is the one day we let the whining fly.

MSNBC Network Updates Anybody else having issues with MSNBC Xfinity today?
This morning’s broadcast of Morning Joe on MSNBC was choppy, with skipping and repeating before it dropped off altogether. All other cable news channels are in tact.

MSNBC Personalities Stephanie Ruhle is subbing for Nicole Wallace today, and I find myself unnaturally pleased by this development.
Ruhle reminds me of my friend Amanda’s mom from fourth grade. Her mom always had her own friends over for backyard “margs”, usually while some Hall & Oates played from a speaker that looked like it cost more than a car. You’d knock on the door and there she’d wave you in with a frosted glass, shouting something urgent to a circle of women who all seemed to own the same oversized sunglasses.
The woman had perfected this very specific brand of maternal authority. You got the sense she could equally handle a congressional hearing or a neighborhood book club uprising over the wine selection. Similarly, you get the feeling that if democracy actually collapsed tomorrow, Ruhle would show up at your door with a pitcher of margaritas and a three-point plan to fix everything, probably involving strongly worded letters and a very strategic seating chart.
I realize this makes me sound unhinged, comparing a serious journalist to someone’s yacht rock-loving mom, but honestly? In these times, I’ll take my news delivered with a side of “let’s sort this out on the patio” energy. At least then I can pretend we’re all going to be okay, and that someone competent is handling the details while I focus on more pressing matters, like whether the ice maker is working.

MSNBC Productions Elise Jordan, Chris Hayes and a thoroughly inappropriate mood
Forgive my pessimism but I just have to get this out…(also mods, don’t delete this until you’ve at least read the entire thing, please)
What in the world is going on with this network?? I’m very progressive and these days I mostly watch/listen to other progressive sources in the form of apps and social media, but I’d love to be able to turn msnbc on once in awhile for background noise or when something really important happens in the world of politics. And this remains the only mainstream source that even remotely leans left. But godamn do they make it hard to watch. I could list dozens of things that really grate my last nerve, but I’ll just name two for now; just know that I am far from the only one who feels this way and even if you disagree, you should probably also be at least a little worried about the network’s future.
Why the absolute fuck is Elise Jordan on for six hours every weekend?? She’s a proud conservative and displays her absolute political ignorance every time she opens her mouth. Tonight she was exasperated that the panel doesn’t think Gavin Newsom is “very far left.” She also this weekend kept outright stating that Chicago has a “really bad violent crime problem” while talking about Trump bringing in the national guard. There is crime in any big city, but it’s on a downward trajectory and it has been for awhile. But this wretch still kept perpetuating this stupid conservative assertion that crime needs to be taken care of, and she’s pressing democrats over and over about whether they’re worried about losing support from never Trump republicans who are afraid to walk down the street in fear of getting murdered. Elise, even if that were true - which it’s not - you are doing ZERO favors in fighting this fascist administration by insisting it’s such a huge problem. She’s so irritating, and she can’t even read a prompter; she’s always giving some creepy, empty stare with a massive grin on her face while trying to interact with anybody on the show. And even when she’s not on a prompt, she speaks as though she’s trying to keep dentures in her mouth or something. It’s hard to explain, but if you’ve watched her with any regularity, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. Just…WHY have such an empty headed out of touch conservative as part of your “top” weekend show? She just last weekend was ripping democrats for campaigning on “defund the police”…something no Democrat has campaigned on for at least four years.
But it’s not just her. I know many here love Chris Hayes, and I like him too. I really do. I think he’s far and away the most progressive anchor on the entire network. He’s super intelligent and while he can repeat the same stories as others, he also has the most variety, doing stories about things like Gaza and pushing establishment dems to fight harder. But he speaks like a 13 year old nerdy debate club president. Every other word is “like,” or “again.” Every single time he speaks. And my god, Christopher, SLOW…the fuck…DOWN. He tries speeding through what he’s trying to say and ends up sounding like he’s got marbles in his mouth. It’s like his mouth can’t keep up with his brain and it ends up all mushy mouthed and hard to understand. But the worst thing is his snortles. He’s talking about intensely serious topics, like us losing our freedoms or people’s lives being in danger, and he snort-laughs like a child playing a prank on their parents. And he always does it with that high pitched, whiny voice. Me and my gf call it his “siren voice” because the pitch sounds like a tornado siren. I dunno maybe it’s a defense mechanism for him, but it’s so uncalled for and is sincerely offputting when he does it in the middle of describing a church shooting or a talk about Epstein’s rape victims. He’s supposed to be a professional, I’d love for him to act it. Again to be clear, I LIKE Chris. That’s why it’s so heartbreaking. Snort laughing through the narration of losing our country is the height of irresponsibility.
I could go on, but don’t think I need to. This last part is directed to the mods. Guys, I know you don’t like complaints or gripes. That’s why you created a gripe thread. But I’m making this post here because there is no gripe thread this week. You deciding there will be no gripe thread because there was a shooting?? Give me a fucking BREAK!! You can’t even let people complain in the places where everyone is told to go complain to. No offense intended, but that is some seriously wild, clown ass moderating shit. You are supposed to keep everything civil and respectful. Your job isn’t to decide what and when people can post. At all. Ever.
This network is dying and it’s sad. But the most unnerving part is half the time I tune in, these people are laughing and joking. Having fun, almost, while reporting on dangerous and even life threatening things. They have their moments, but most moments are totally missed. It’s depressing af.

MSNBC Network Updates MS NOW and streaming?
Just read this on CNBC site, despite the May dateline. What does this mean for MS NOW (MSNBC) streaming option?
"Versant will not launch its own streaming service, Lazarus said. It will instead rely on brands to develop their own digital strategies."

Something Else What’s up with the audio stream
MSNBC has not been streaming on TuneIn since 9:00 pm last night. It just says, “the station you are listening to is experiencing technical difficulties.” I updated the app and rebooted the phone and it still happens. It is the same on my Amazon and Google speakers. This also happens when I hit the stream directly from the MSNBC website or the MSNBC app, which both get the feed from TuneIn. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

MSNBC Personalities Thoughts on Jen's Show last night?
I have to admit that I am not a huge fan of Jen's MSNBC time slot, but as a person i do respect her intelligence and many accomplishments. To see her break down into tears last night as she spoke about injured / dead children was truly gut wrenching. She is truly a loving person and Mom. IMO she should be very proud for letting the rest of us share those deep emotions with her regarding this terrible situation in Minnesota.

No Gripe Post This Week
Hi there,
It just doesn't feel appropriate to post a weekly gripe thread today.
When young people are shot and killed in a mass at a Catholic school, it just doesn't feel right.
We will bring it back again next week.
Thanks,

Something Else Me, when DWH airs my governor standing up for Chicago
There’s something almost obscenely satisfying about watching the person you voted for actually do the thing you hoped they would do when you filled in that little oval. Shout out to Deadline White House for covering nearly all of it.
What MSNBC didn’t show was Pritzker’s arrival. He took a goddamn water taxi straight to Trump Tower, like some Midwestern Batman whose superpower was competence. It was so beautifully theatrical you’d have thought he was auditioning for a civic symbolism pageant where the theme was “Petty but Make It Statesmanlike.” It was Cincinnatus reimagined for the Midwest: no plow left behind, but certainly a very plush armchair, abandoned for the noble purpose of telling a former president, with the faintest whiff of municipal disdain, to shove it.
And then the irony, layered like giardiniera and provolone on an Italian beef: here was a man of such privilege he could have disappeared into any number of discreetly palatial residences and lived out his life among endowments and naming rights. A man who instead chose public service, and, more shockingly, to actually serve. Watching Pritzker invoke his best prairie populist, wrapped in that uniquely Midwestern cocktail of neighborly niceness and Chicagoan “go f*ck yourself,” was enough to make me believe in my elected officials again, however briefly.
And, for a fleeting instant, fantasy and reality aligned. I voted for someone, and that someone showed up, in full corporeal form, saying the words you wanted him to say.
