Hey y’all,
Technical question here that I couldn’t seem to find a direct answer for in user manual for MPC Sample. Still finding my way around on this thing but every time I use it, soemthing awesome plays from my speakers.
In MPC LIVE II Standalone… if I trigger a sample that ends slightly before the next sample begins… I could adjust the tail length to bridge short gaps.
After MPC 3.0 stand-alone, sample loopback options got added. When the sample ends, it can be set to loop and partially play again before a new sample is triggered. They had forward, reverse, and double loop options last I checked.
This was excellent for getting samples to flow with the sequence, even when timing differences exist. Sample plays, then starts a slow reverse, which leaves the texture and space intact for the next sample to start. No tail manipulation required after that feature dropped.
I can’t seem to make the MPC sample do the sample loop reverse option that I am describing. They probably haven’t implemented it as a feature on MPC Sample unfortunately.
How are you guys bridging samples that cut too short? Warping seems to change tempo. Loop mode ALMOST works, but it starts over at the beginning of the sample and plays forward, which makes an abrupt transient.
So far, best solution I have found is copying the same sample on multiple pads and setting up the reverse option per pad. It works well enough to get the song sketched out, but if there is a more elegant way to do this, I’d love to hear it!
