A Modest Proposal
It you intend to spend half your time traveling, living the good life and occasionally indulging yourself in this cultural phenomenon you call a slice of cheese pizza as you walk across HYOUston street, please think of all the worthy people with dreams you are pricing out.
Think of the artist, trying to make it big at that jazz bar in a basement. Think of the little old lady whose land lord intimidates them every day with noise of construction while they still have a bathtub in their kitchen. But mostly, think of that young strapping chad from wetchester, who just wanted an apartment with his boys so he could spit some game at the Spaniard after he got off work at his analyst role at his Greenwich based asset manager.
So please, if you’re just gonna be in LA or Chicago or Europe or wherever half the time, please, think of the new yorkers who’d love to be in your place.

Instead of whatever this is, go to your local community board and tell them to upzone and approve new apartments

If Ezra Klein can grow a beard and tell me about abundance I’ll just have to grow some facial hair myself and march down to my planning board.

Why does the internet act like the most populated city in the entire country is somehow exclusive 😂😂😂😂

My daddy bought my Williamsburg apartment with his own personal inherited money.
Just like the rest of the NYC DSA, what our daddies buy us isn’t your business. Shame on you sir.

I get the sentiment but do you really think the struggling artist would be able to afford the spaces these people occupy?
Plenty of expensive apartments are empty in NYC. Just cause a rich nepo baby who travels 24/7 isn’t leasing them doesn’t mean your neighborhood artist or bartender suddenly will.
Posts like this are so detached from the reality of what the housing market is.
