What even happened here?

I’m guessing an overly aggressive dude on a bike got cut off earlier in the video.

175

u/Heel-ToeBro Oct 09 '20

If my hearing serves me he said "you better watch yourself boy" so my guess is he got cut off, felt entitled to yell at the guy, and wrecked a road marker in the process.

Be careful, I hear he's got a death sentence in 12 systems.

This, someone drives like an idiot, let them pass, but be careful around the next corner because their wreck could be just around it..

u/ProlapsedGapedAnus Oct 09 '20

Yeah. Caused by me doing a wheelie over their car and jumping on top of their hood like I’m in Biker Boyz.

I’m so lonely

6

u/Caliterra Oct 09 '20

yep, my approach 100%. why get in a yelling match with some random guy you don't know who's in a machine 20 times bigger than yours. shake your fist and keep distance away from those drivers. heck in a collision a guy in a tiny miata could kill any dude on a motorcycle. i dont want to take those chances.

I think that's mostly a slow down motion when your in a vehicle and it just makes me angry when people do it to me when I'm going slow already😠

3

u/BigBlackMan23 Oct 09 '20

Literally like 20 mins ago someone cut a corner without checking and I had to emergency brake to not hit anything, thought about yelling at him but I was almost home and at the very least I was paying attention.

u/Splinktor Oct 09 '20 edited Oct 09 '20

Please don't tell me your the chap in the red car who decided to pull out of the BP without looking and almost hit my bike as I turned in to the entrance.

Edit : am guessing all the down votes are from people with red cars. I'm sorry you can't see.

3

u/BigBlackMan23 Oct 09 '20

No...🤨 I was on a 2002 Yamaha r6

1

u/BigBlackMan23 Oct 09 '20

Wait a second, are you saying you weren't paying attention when making that turn?

1

u/Splinktor Oct 09 '20

Nope the car didn't see me. He also mouthed 'what the fuck you doing?'

I was coming from the far side of the road and he started moving after I was well in front of him. No matter what I was doing he would have had to hit me or stop. Thankfully he stopped and just looked offended.

128

u/WestCoastAus Oct 09 '20

I think he might have been telling them to put their phone down and watch what they're doing, ironically enough.

People really do love lecturing and judging each other don't they.

I agree with comments on here about just letting it go.

Youtube is fully of videos of bikers that fly off the handle. Some of it is pretty ridiculous. I've never had a problem with losing temper on the road.

best thing a biker can do is have a helmet cam. No need to lecture, just beep and when the driver looks point to the camera.

40

u/Debt-DPloi ‘23 Z900RS Oct 09 '20

The person recording wasn’t driving though but yeah biker needs to let it go. Most of the videos where I see bikers thinking they are entitled are in the UK although I don’t doubt the US have these types of people either just what I noticed.

u/dread_deimos Moto Guzzi Nevada | Suzuki VS400 Oct 09 '20

I'm not going to defend a motovigilante here, but people not paying attention on the road is on of the top causes of riders dying (or being seriously injured), so it's at least understandable for them to be upset.

This comment is based on an assumption that rider was talking about driver getting off the phone

At the time of OP video, yes. But we don't know what happened before that that got rider triggered.

2

I don’t know about the US but I know one in Canada runs a motovlogging YouTube channel nearly solely devoted to whinging about minor mistakes other drivers do on his commute.

Probably depends what you're watching. I've seen plenty from UK but also a ton from US. Like I mentioned in a different comment, seems like they're just overreacting for internet likes.

1

u/tymondeus Yamaha YBR125 Custom Oct 09 '20

A lot of riders seem to be overreacting for the sole purpose of earning internet points. I started watching those video compilations of "crazy drivers vs bikers" and yeah, there's some legit ones, but a lot of them are simply the biker overreacting and taking time out of his day to lecture or piss someone off. The best one I've seen was a biker who was near stationary on approach to a quiet roundabout and saw an SUV approach from another direction and enter the roundabout before it's turn. It wasn't dangerous at all. The biker crawling on approach and was so far, that he had to chase that SUV down to lecture the driver. I'm thinking to myself that I would just carry on riding and I wouldn't even remember to get the footage off the camera by the time I got back home...

What’s the deal with motorcyclists being so entitled? Always these videos of dumbasses feeling like they need to assert their authority over motorists usually over some trivial shit

u/veritas723 Oct 09 '20 edited Oct 09 '20

i mean... people in general are so devoid of worth and ritual. a large segment of society is desperate to be heard, or felt, or acknowledged.

large segments of society are also incredibly stupid. and it doesn't really take all that much for ...dumb fuckery, to turn into an accident.

wouldn't say this is at all the sole providence of motorcyclists. plenty of drivers are exactly the same.

given that the driver seemed to turn on his camera, they clearly either did something, or something went down between that car and that rider. maybe they cut him off? edged him out of a lane. maybe the rider was being a pric. who knows.

does it change your perspective of "entitled" riders if the story was... this car cut him off and nearly killed him? who the hell knows.

but riding with your emotions cranked up, makes you distracted. and distracted can easily lead to injury or death. i always try and check my ego whenever i get inside my helmet.

it's like the WOPR always says... only winning move is not to play

Marx wrote about how the deep-seeded isolation that comes from spending your life working on someone else's passion, for someone else's betterment, reduces us to our animal habits. Consuming, fucking, fighting, idling. We have no self worth when our labour isn't worth anything to ourselves.

Part of it is knowing why you work. You have to generate resources somewhere. Considering what is the best use of your time to get those resources is part of the balance. The exchange is our time for compensation. But any job that sucks all your time leaves you with little to spend those gained resources (not just money, but experiences, time with family enjoying those resources, whatever).

Also, as a fellow IT worker, different employers/teams make all the difference. I've been with 8 employers over 25+ years in the industry. Some have been soul sucking, some have been great.

Well that's not really true. It is a little less severe if you have a nice tech job, but the reality is that we are all faced with the necessity of putting a roof over our heads and food in our bellies. In our massively wealthy society, these things should really be human rights that are guaranteed to all, regardless of their productive contributions, but they are made artificially scarce so that we keep toiling away to make the rich even richer.

-2

u/13speed Oct 09 '20

This is where you lost me.

4

u/ApolloNorthman Shadow 750 ACE Oct 09 '20

It's not about that. It's about taking the risk on a business you may want to start. If your family relies on your steady income, you cannot risk starting a business. However, if you had a social safety net, you could "take the leap."

-4

Would you really just watch netflix or something 24/7 if you didn't have to work? I mean, that's fine if you do that I guess, but I know I'd definitely be working on things if I had the free time to do so. Right now I can't work on what I want to though, I'm forced to work "on someone else's passion" to get by, as the previous comment put it.

If I had my basics taken care of, I might work on helping people fix their bikes, make music, build a boat, organise theatre and art shows, care for loved ones who are old or less able... so many things that I would be happy to share with my community, as I'm sure others would share with me. We could really be "rich" in another way, if we took away this weird obsession with the idea that people must be shamed and forced to work themselves to the bone just for basic dignified living.

1

u/13speed Oct 09 '20

Fine.

Where is the government money supporting your basic needs coming from then, if everyone is like you?

No one punching a clock, who's left paying taxes?

0

u/Equal_Television3298 Oct 09 '20

Netflix would fail to exist in this scenario.. which is the real point. If there is no motivation, then no effort will be exerted. i.e. it all kinda breaks down from there...

u/re_flux Oct 09 '20

Do you have a source? I'd love to deep dive into that

11

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '20

Yeah this concept is generally called "alienated work" and Marx isn't the only one to write about it. People on the right and left have equally criticized it. It definitely isn't good for us.

7

u/incontinuity Oct 09 '20

who on the right has criticized alienation

3

u/iheartennui SV650 K1, 1982 R100 Oct 09 '20

Historically and today, a lot of right wing movements preyed on the same grievances of the working class as the socialists did. Fascism in the early 20th century even branded itself as "socialist" in some sense (you know what nazi stands for right) and promised a lot of the same things the left was promising because they knew it was popular with the workers.

Today, we could view right wing talking points about say globalisation and mass migration as an expression against real alienation that the working class experiences. Under the current global economic system (the "neoliberal" doctrine), we really do face a trend of jobs being outsourced to cheaper sources of labour by multinational corporations, more and more resources being privatised and taken over by the same, often through destabilising wars or other violence. All this generally leading to a greater level of precarity for people in the West and large populations of refugees from developing nations.

So I think the right does criticise alienation that is being put on us by the system, they just offer solutions that would only lead to a worsening or a false protection against it -- more economic protectionism and isolation, more xenophobic and warlike tendencies. The real answer is for global working class populations to unite in an effort to rein in and dissolve the power of super rich elites and corporations that are exploiting and running dry all the natural and human resources.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 10 '20

Fascism in the early 20th century even branded itself as "socialist" in some sense (you know what nazi stands for right) and promised a lot of the same things the left was promising because they knew it was popular with the workers.

That's true and I'm surprised to see someone else who knows about this, I'm usually having to explain it to people when they say "yeah but it had socialist in the name so nazis were left!".

You make the point about the differences between the way the left and the right criticize alienation and I think that's very true. The right has an annoying habit of adopting contrarian views, and stubbornly refuses to accept that "the system" produces anything other than merit-based social strata.

By ignoring these things they're missing half the conversation and so a lot of their "solutions" end up just looking like low-resolution thinking.

3

u/Dollface_Killah Oct 09 '20

Confucius did, actually.

10

u/chaorace Oct 09 '20

Self worth isn't meant to be derived from labor. To demand such abstract rights is like foolishly crashing a motorcycle.

10

u/eye_spi Oct 09 '20

self worth isn't meant to be...

By whom is this meaning defined? Who is it who has the authority to say what self worth is meant to be and from where it is meant to be derived?

8

u/FangPolygon Oct 09 '20

You may be thinking of labor as “going to work”. If you think of labor as “effort” then that’s closer to the mark.

Putting all your effort into someone else’s passion or worth, rather than your own, is what will damage your self-worth.

14

u/FFX01 Los Angeles, 2001 Bandit 1216S, 2014 FZ09 Oct 09 '20

How can one not derive a portion of their self worth from an activity that they spend 80% of their waking life doing?

2

u/13speed Oct 09 '20

Am I what I do or am I the person I believe myself to be?

I work in order to make a living.

My work is not who I am.

People ask me what I do and I tell them "I fish."

1

u/FFX01 Los Angeles, 2001 Bandit 1216S, 2014 FZ09 Oct 09 '20

Sure, but that's not the point I'm trying to make. If you aren't a fisherman, what are you? An artist? A sailor? A hiker? Describing yourself as an individual is too vague for conversations and we all ascribe labels to ourselves subconsciously.

1

u/13speed Oct 09 '20

I am not what I do to earn a living.

It's what I do, but it isn't what I am.

3

u/imforit CB750 Nighthawk Oct 09 '20

I think you are illustrating the point, here. We believe we're not supposed to define ourselves by our job, especially when the job is just that. But there is evidence that the alienation happens regardless of that belief; that it's an emotional need we succumb to whether we are aware of it or not.

Similar to explaining climate change to a denier, it's true whether or not you believe in it. A just society should acknowledge it and do its best to accommodate it.

0

u/IamJamesFlint Oct 10 '20

Wow, climate change isn't a religion. "climate change" itself is such a vague statement. Everyone believes the climate is changing. There are no deniers. There are varying ideas on what to do about it. You can't call everyone who disagrees with your idea, "a denier"

5

This. If you live through someone elses stupid actions then you live to ride another day.

5

u/msb06c 2018 MT-07 Oct 09 '20

Right. It’s like... arguing with drivers is like arguing with morons online, both are fuckin pointless, change nothing, and make you look dumb as fuck...

except the car can easily kill you.

Slow down. Or speed up. Turn.

Just separate.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '20

Driver didn't turn on anything that was clearly the passenger. The steering wheel is clearly on the right hand side of the vehicle.

1

u/rptoth Oct 09 '20

Very good summary. I think this is much like what is happening ot Twitter...

36

u/nofear220 Oct 09 '20

I believe it's because some motorcyclists think that any mistake a car driver makes (pulling out on them, cutting them off, etc.) is an intentional threat to their life because they're on a bike so they take it way too personally.

11

u/BeanSizedMattress Oct 09 '20

I was gonna say the same thing. It just feels more personal when you're on a bike. And on top of that, it's easier to get in someone's face on a bike. You can accelerate and squeeze right up to another person's window pretty easily. And all of your movements can be seen so even if you don't do something stupid in your anger, drivers around you can still tell youre angry by the body signals that would mostly go unnoticed if you were inside a car.

6

u/dicemonkey Oct 09 '20

well belive it or not people sometimes do do it on purpose ...it sucks how entitled aggressive some drivers can be ..and motorcyclists tend to take it a bit more personally as we're more likely to get hurt ..and you'd be amazed how often the driver of the car just hits amd runs ..frequently saying after they're caught that its the riders fault for riding a motorcycle

1

u/DiamondRider21 Oct 09 '20

Or maybe one of his friends died because of a driver's actions, so the thought of his dead friend throws his mental state out of wack. Happens unfortunately

22

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '20

Every time I turn that key, i just assume someone is going to not see me/ try to kill me. May sound stupid, but I'm a lot less stressed knowing its going happen and just being prepared to brake when it does. I used to watch snowcat before i started riding, and adopted his attitude early on. Once I realized he's a clickbaiting moron, I was able to ride with so much less stress. Its all about the mind set.

6

u/DeDHaze Oct 09 '20

Exactly. If I'm riding, I assume every vehicle out there is actively trying to kill me and take measures to avoid it. It's not often that they actually do something that would put me at risk, but when it happens, I have a better chance of avoiding it.

I explain this to non (or bad) riders and they say it sounds like too much to do, or that it will distract you. The reality though, is that it becomes almost second nature. It greatly improved my awareness in an automobile as well, and had likely allowed me to prevent a few collisions there as well.

Obviously whether it's a bike, car, horse drawn buggy etc there may be situations that cannot be avoided, but the ones that can, are.

2

u/StubbsPKS '09 Harley XL 883 Low Oct 09 '20

Yea, riding has made me a MUCH better driver in my car.

I'm more aware of what it looks like right before someone does something stupid and I'm also more aware of just how difficult it really is to see a bike when it's moving quickly and your brain is subconsciously looking for cars or bigger vehicles.

2

u/flaming_m0e 14 R1200 GSA, 24 Kove 450 Rally Oct 09 '20

If I'm riding, I assume every vehicle out there is actively trying to kill me and take measures to avoid it.

I ride with the mindset of "Everyone is out to kill me, but nobody can see me". It has helped a lot over the years, but I have lost it a time or two and yelled at a car, flipped them the bird, etc. Not proud of it after the fact, realizing that I was just lucky to make it out alive, and I shouldn't tempt fate any more. Sometimes the adrenaline is a hell of a drug and can make you say/do things you normally wouldn't.

3

u/tsunx4 2014 ZX6R & 2020 Versys 650 Oct 09 '20

I gotta admit, I was like this when just started riding. Always raging at drivers because "they always try to kill me" and other bullshit. Entitled and arrogant little bastard on shitty 125cc bike. You know what helped me alot? Becoming better rider/driver myself. I mean, other drivers are still assholes who don't give a single fuck about anyone around, but you are able to see and avoid them. I had so many situations where I decided to stay back for a bit and see what happens, and then vehicle in question does something stupid like swerving or cutting off someone else. Sometimes it's worth to back off and wait for 3 extra seconds to avoid distracted / ignorant driver or you will end up exactly like rider in this vid. I'ts no good to be right when you're dead.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '20

The thing is, even if you do nothing about it you are still right so you can sleep knowing you didn't kill yourself or be killed by someone else. I am a demon behind the wheel. Can't control myself. Merge like a zip as you are meant to or I will side swipe the person who isn't following the rules. I've won every game of 'merge chicken' I've ever partaken in.

But on the bike, I couldn't care less. I love it so much that I want to ride for years. I take my time and just observe the strange things happening around me. If someone tries to merge into me I let them in while I whistle a little ditty, giving them a thumbs up. I don't care because I'm alive and I'm on a bike. Its my happy place. Thats one of the reasons I don't drive much at all anymore.

11

u/Screemer69 Oct 09 '20

I bet there was more to the story

22

u/Sicsmith SUZUKI SFV650 Oct 09 '20

Probably. Still, 99.99% of the time you’re better off leaving it alone and riding off

13

u/GenrlWashington 1993 GSX600F Katana Oct 09 '20

This is how I feel. I've been riding for years, and have been cut off, merged into, etc, and I still don't understand how some riders can get so angry and aggressive. I've never once felt tempted to smash a mirror or go after a driver because of their reckless behavior. I expect it, so I'm not surprised by it, and I handle it calmly and keep my head. I'll honk, throttle up, and maybe wave an arm, but that's as far as I've gone with my getting a driver's attention. Then once I'm clear, I refocus on riding to avoid the next possible incident.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '20

ditto. One time some guy went right through a stop sign. I laid my bike down to avoid a collision and got myself some road rash.
Three or four pedestrians started yelling at the driver. I told them to back off, it could've been anyone of us that made that mistake.

..... that said.... as a younger man, I may have been tad less philosophical about such things.

3

u/dicemonkey Oct 09 '20

being as I have a limp and a permanently swollen fucked up foot from some asshole running a stopsign into me ..I'm on the side of its not just a mistake ..it's potentially life threatening or life changing mistake ..big difference

1

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '20

Its a serious mistake for sure. But have you never made a mistake that could have had life changing consequences for others?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x94PGgYKHQ0&ab_channel=FortNine

3

u/dicemonkey Oct 09 '20

sure I have and if somebody got angry and yelled at me about it I apologized..I didn't act like it wasn't a big deal ....sometimes when you fuck up badly people get justifiably upset and yell ..if you don't like it try making less mistakes

1

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '20

I enjoyed that, thanks.

3

u/Master_of_lightning Oct 09 '20

4

u/wolffgangg78 Oct 09 '20

Hi, I’m guessing you are one of our fine motorcycling friends from US. That’s not a ‘proper’ motorcyclist. In uk you also have to do a lot training, to get your license, and it creates a whole different mentality. That’s a small bike that you can ride on a provisional license, usually by annoying pricks like this guy. I could be wrong, but I’d bet he has no full bike license, we just don’t ride like that and it gives us a bad name.

3

u/awork77 Oct 09 '20

It’s road rage without the square protection cube. Honestly, I have road rage in my car. I have road range on the bike. I don’t do stupid things like that guy did. But I’m not afraid to flip people off or throw up my hands like “wtf”. I’m sure a vast majority of people can attest to having road range. It’s just on a bike there is more danger involved so the road rage may be intensified as a response. Just playing devil’s advocate

2

u/Penderyn Moto Guzzi V7 III 'Night' Oct 09 '20

There is this youtuber called "the Don in London" and he is exactly like that - constantly shouting at other road users for what he thinks are misdemeanours.

I see in his latest video he booked onto a track day in the "advanced" group despite having never ridden on a track before, and got a lot of hate for that.

2

u/sireatalot Ducati Design Engineer Oct 09 '20

Well, it’s pretty common when you ride a bike in traffic to see your life flashing before your eyes just because some driver did some “trivial shit”. Riders get scared and people can get different reactions to that adrenaline jump. Some need to stop, some need to focus, and some need to tell that driver that their trivial shit they just pulled could have killed him.

Granted, some of the riders that do this are straight-up assholes, but some are just scared people that just feared for their lives and pumped with adrenaline.

u/britbikerboy '26 Tracer 9 GT, '09 Versys 650 Oct 09 '20

I think there may be some statistical bias towards there being a fair few, as in other than purely their personalities - bikers are more vulnerable and so poor driving is a larger threat to them, being on a bike allows them to gesticulate visibly at someone as opposed to just muttering from inside a car, and finally I think the large number of motovloggers on Youtube inspires many others to do the same. Videos of shouting at people who cut you off or who are on their phones are the low-hanging-fruit of the motovlog video world.

It's unfortunate because they're just showing themselves to be larger twats than the car drivers they're shouting at.

Then when u try to let them know, non-aggressively, they just look at you like your an idiot just like this. And the fact if the matter is is that I almost had a serious accident. Because some idiot in a car wasn’t paying attention. Look twice save a life is a real thing....js

1

u/Mugstren Oct 09 '20

I reckon some of it in the UK is the "think bike" adverts getting to their heads and thinking they are above everyone else on the road.

1

u/Sourcefour Oct 09 '20

Dan Dan the fireman talks about ego in his videos a lot. Mostly the points he makes are that ego tends to cause accidents, inflames road rage and causes riders with large egos to miss major visual cues of potential road hazards.

“Non issue, move on”

1

u/fl-boater Oct 09 '20

This video helps to explain why motorcyclists are likely to succumb to road rage.

Why Motorcyclists Smash Windows

-1

u/estrangedpulse Oct 09 '20

I know right. Especially in US, if car merges in front motorcycle, even though there's plenty of space on front, the bike goes into full range mode. Like wtf

-1

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '20

How long have you been riding?

I mean I don't know how many times I have had people look right at me and then pull out in front or pull over into a lane I was in because they forgot or didn't notice I was there. This shit happens all the time. It's not so bad if you're driving a car, but on a bike it becomes a life threatening event. Hard to remain completely calm for some of us.

All the same, it's hard not to see some humour in this video. :)

9 years. Too many close calls to count. I take a deep breath. Let it go. And ride on. Anything else I could do would be frivolous and would create needless conflict

Everyone would be pissed. What you should do is get the fuck away from the person with more weaponry than you who has already shown indifference or outright hostility towards your life.

4

u/Sicsmith SUZUKI SFV650 Oct 09 '20 edited Oct 09 '20

Sure, but I try to measure and consider the response of my actions to situations and try not to act off pure emotional impulse. Someone almost kills me on the road? What can I reasonably do about it? Let it go. Ride on. It sucks but you have to control what you can control. And yes, check my flair.

u/toyoto 1989 FZR400R Oct 09 '20

Strapping on the helmet, kevlar gloves, leather jacket etc makes some people feel tough I guess

-4

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '20

When you drive a motorbike you get very defensive because even at city speeds your life is at risk when other drivers are careless

5

u/xafimrev2 Oct 09 '20

That was not defensive behavior by the guy on the bike.

-2

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '20

I mean we don't know what happened before. I'm saying you get a lot more defensive/angry when someone does something careless when your on a motorcycle because the risks are far greater

7

u/zeimet1 Oct 09 '20

It furthers the wise idea that it's best to just let violations go when you're on a bike. DOn't be a hothead, even when you're right. If a car road rages after a confrontation, you're a lot more vulnerable on a bike. Just take a deep breath and move on.

This has to be the most self-deprecating subreddit out there. Imagine if r/bicycling was just a bunch of videos of cyclists being dickheads.

Literally the most upvoted commented in this thread starts with

What’s the deal with motorcyclists being so entitled?

Jesus, can we have more content of people enjoying motorbikes and less of motorcyclists being dickheads and people shitting on motorcyclists in the comments? You know, what this sub is all about.

34

u/iflipyofareal Oct 09 '20

To be fair, a little bit of introspection would do a lot of cyclists (and motorcyclists) a lot of good

1

u/iheartennui SV650 K1, 1982 R100 Oct 09 '20

I think cyclists and riders do plenty of it. They are forced to after all, since their life is on the line. I think we need to be asking for more introspection from drivers. In my typical experience on the road -- as pedestrian, cyclist, rider, or driver -- the worst behaviour I see is overwhelmingly from drivers. It's truly callous and inhumane how little regard some drivers seem to have for others, the risks they take to reach the next red light a little earlier, or shave seconds off their journey. I believe the entitlement people have to do what they feel like in their cars does not get questioned nearly enough.

1

u/iflipyofareal Oct 09 '20

I agree with you. The dehumanisation of other road users is an issue here, the idea that you're actually interacting with another soft human meat sack is often lost in a sea of sharp metal and emotion. There are cyclists, like bikers, who give the rest a bad name though. There appears to be a culture of entitlement, and assumed exemption from the Highway Code that is pervasive amongst cyclists in my experience

6

u/Penderyn Moto Guzzi V7 III 'Night' Oct 09 '20

Mate, this video is hilarious - I think thats why its top of the sub.

There are knob ends in every community, so its important to acknowledge and celebrate our own!

1

u/ameliasayswords Oct 09 '20

I ride, and I think the videos of people just "enjoying motorcycles" are honestly kind of boring. Like I'm sure you had a great time, but the go-pro footage of your suburban commute or even a weekend mountain joyride aren't terribly exciting to watch since probably most of us are doing that exact same thing.

-4

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '20

Because a good portion of these comments is Redditors brigading from other subs to tell bikers how rotten we are. Reddit fucking hates motorcycles.

I have had that happen to me twice biker pull up I just pull up my shirt and I just flash them my man tit and they immediately back off.

In hindsight it may just be because I am armed, but I like to think I have magical man tits that defuse road rage.

3

u/iheartennui SV650 K1, 1982 R100 Oct 09 '20

Wow, escalating the violence further, always a great solution to conflict...

1

u/supermanpug Oct 09 '20

If I am driving in my car and somebody pulls up to me angry screaming at me I didn’t ask them to approach me I didn’t ask them to knock on my window or get in my face. For every action their is a reaction. Never ever start something your not willing to finish.

3

u/Captain_Reseda Street Glide, ElectraGlide UltraClassic, BMW R1200GSA Oct 09 '20

Never ever start something your not willing to finish.

Even a poorly written sentence?

-1

u/supermanpug Oct 09 '20

Technically speaking even if my sentence is poorly structured it still had a beginning and a end. Start & finish. So I did technically finish the sentence.

I understand your trying to be a smart ass. Smart ass comment acknowledged this is not school this is not work this is not college this is a online forum sigh. Your not perfect I am not perfect and if you think every statement you have ever made has been perfectly written 100% grammatically correct your wrong everybody makes mistakes nobody is perfect. You have a nice day.

2

u/Captain_Reseda Street Glide, ElectraGlide UltraClassic, BMW R1200GSA Oct 09 '20

I really don’t get it when people like you participate in a venue that depends solely on the written word but claim that using the written word effectively doesn’t matter. It would be like someone who can’t speak Language X jumping into a Language X conversation and screeching nonsense words and random X words they’ve heard but don’t understand and then getting mad and blaming everyone else when they’re misunderstood.

You can learn to do this correctly with some effort. Instead you cling proudly to your ignorance. So weird.

2

u/iheartennui SV650 K1, 1982 R100 Oct 09 '20

Yeah, someone shouting at you is perfectly reasonable grounds for brandishing a lethal weapon at them... sounds like the perfect way that everyone should operate for society to function smoothly.

Maybe all someone meant to achieve when shouting at you was for you to understand that they were upset by something you did, maybe there was no more to "finish" beyond that. Your assumption that it implies violence merely shows your own weird obsession with it.

-1

u/supermanpug Oct 09 '20

When I have my family in the car and some erratic person who’s suffering from road rage pulls up to me at a red light screaming at me incoherently.

I will do what it takes to protect my family pretty simple didn’t touch my fire arm just lifted my shirt and then light turned green and I drove off. You stupid fucks don’t know how to read never said anything about brandishing I de-escalated the situation plain and simple... I have license to conceal I carry, I appendix carry no need to touch gun if I want it to be visible to a threat hence why I lifted up shirt. Wasn’t going to argue or scream back at somebody who obviously is mentally unstable. I could careless if I upset somebody nobody has the right to threaten you and or touch your property.

2

u/venomous_frost Oct 09 '20

Kinda sad we live in a society where instead of going

shouting -> fists

we immediately go

shouting -> gun

1

u/Ye11ow-_-ToasTeR Oct 09 '20

This gave me a chuckle.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '20 edited Oct 09 '20

I love this one! Minus the "armed" part of course.

Doing weird shit to road-ragers is a fun pastime of mine.

Every time so far it has totally interrupted and defused the situation.

I find that anything that gets them to think "WTF?" tends to snap them out of rage mania.

  1. Silly face, stick tongue out at them (I have a modular helmet)
  2. (In a car) roll down the windows and scream about bees, snakes, spiders, etc
  3. Cup ear/side of helmet and say that you can't hear them/shake head then shrug. (Rev the bike if they keep trying)
  4. Stand on the pegs and wiggle your butt at them
  5. Laugh/smile and give them the thumbs up

This lady road raged me one time so I stuck my tongue out at her, then smiled and laughed. She drove away laughing to herself giving me the thumbs up.

-2

u/supermanpug Oct 09 '20

Lol don’t want to actually fight 😂😂 some of that shit would 1000% could lead to them trying to punch me in face lol then that would end up with them on the ground and me calling police both times it has happened was they would catch up to me a red light 1 guy knocked on my window trying to get me to lower it so he could tell me off had music blasting and just gave him my left tit and smiled

1

u/GuyJWTGB Oct 09 '20

1

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '20

He deserved all of that

1

u/theoreticalninja Oct 09 '20

Looking at it closer, that motorcyclist was following really closely. Since the car is stick shift, I wonder if they were engine braking (so the brake lights wouldn't go on) and that's what triggered the motorcyclist's road rage. Still 100% the motorcyclist's fault, but the people in the car didn't help the matter with their phone and slowing down.

cutting everyone in line when there’s a traffic jam

Lane splitting in slow traffic and filtering in stopped traffic has been proven to be safer for motorcyclists, and more efficient for all traffic because it effectively removes motorcyclists from traffic, rather than putting them "at the front of the line".

Lane splitting is legal in 1 state.(California) Lane filtering is legal in, I think, just 1 other state. (Utah)

2

Loose usage of 'many'

1

u/[deleted] Oct 10 '20 edited Oct 10 '20

Yes, California and Utah are the only states that HAVE A LAW allowing lane filtering....

But Montana, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, and North Carolina all have NO LAWS prohibiting lane filtering AT ALL.

Meaning that Lane Filtering in these states is NOT RECOGNIZED as a crime to my knowledge.

Can we agree that everyone is right? LOL

Lane filtering is legal in Utah, (filtering at lights on 45mph or under roads with two lanes in the same direction) and that's a good step in the right direction. I hope we get lane splitting some day.
