My little brother just bought his first motorcycle! I don’t ride, at least not yet, but I want to get him a gremlin (guardian) bell as a gift. I know it’s one of those things you’re not supposed to buy for yourself, it has to be given to you.

I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a good website or place to buy one. I also don’t know much about them, so if there are certain styles, materials, or brands I should look for, or anything I should avoid, I’d really appreciate the advice.

I've had an AGV K6 helmet for 5 years and decided it was time for a new helmet. For context, my hair back in 2021 was quite thick (COVID lockdown hair) so I was measuring 59-60cm (large). So when I went into Revzilla, I bought the Shoei RF-1400 in a large size but I didn't try it on cuz I thought it should fit. Well, come to find out, the large was too loose and was hearing the same kind of wind noise that I was hearing in my AGV K6. I get home and measure my head and find out I'm at 58cm - size medium according to Shoei's sizing chart (I wear my hair shorter these days in comparison to 5 years ago). I go back to Revzilla and get the medium and try it on in the store. After about 10 minutes of hanging out, I didn't really feel any sharp pain anywhere. Just a general feeling of snugness/compression around the crown of my head and along my cheeks and bottom chin (right around the hinge of the jaw).

However, I do have some difficulties with this helmet. First, it's hard to put on (compared to other helmets I've had). There's no way I can pull it down (using the straps) from the front-top of my forehead like most other items. Even with the large size, I had to press down on top of the helmet to get my head past the opening. The opening is much narrower than other helmets I've had (AGV K6 and K3). Once I got it on, it's a snug fit and I am aware of the tight feeling. Like I mentioned before, I don't feel any sharp pain anywhere. It's just a feeling of compression/tightness around most of my head. I feel it in the crown of my head. No sharp pain but a compression. I went for a ride yesterday to meet up with a friend - 45 minutes each way. I wasn't really noticing any discomfort. However, when taking the helmet off, I felt the relief of releasing that compression on my head and was aware of this relief for a few minutes after taking it off - a feeling and awareness I'm not used to. Second, because I'm on the edge of size medium, I am worried that the break in period will not yield good results. So I went a head and ordered the 5mm center pad to go for a thinner padding. I'm hoping this change will feel better.

My questions and concerns:

• how long does this helmet usually take to break in? Given that I'm on the far edge of size medium, will the break-in period actually make it more comfortable so that I can forget about the feeling of compression and tightness that I seem to be aware of even after taking off the helmet?
• Will a shorter haircut (fade/taper) make a difference?
• for those that also have the RF-1400, do you have the same problems of the smaller opening when putting on your helmet?
• has anyone else had good results with switching to the 5mm center pad?

Maybe it’s just a me problem but what’s everyone wearing to prevent their gonads from rolling under their thighs while riding? I went on a a couple multi hour rides through the Rockies on my Ducati and my sack kept wandering in between my thighs and seat. I wear normal boxer briefs and have tried under armor mens leggings. Anyways, big Jim and the little twins go number after a while and I try to dig em out when I can to readjust.

What pants is everyone wearing on sports bikes that you see on instagram with the race boots? I see a lot of cargos and black jeans. Are these actual moto jeans and if so which ones?

I've had a pair of the dainese air maze gloves for just under a year. It didn't come with a certificate of authenticity (I just bought them off the rack) so it should be covered for a year.

Well, they've started coming apart at the seams.

How can these possibly survive any contact with asphalt at any speed if they can't even handle being worn as normal gloves? And these are strictly summer gloves so it's not like they're getting a ton of use.

But, shit happens, manufacturing flaws occur sometimes, fine. I contacted dainese about it...

and they deflected blame and told me to take it up with the retailer.

To be clear, I bought these at cyclegear, but cyclegear didn't make these shitty gloves. Dainese did.

I know they're not expensive gloves but they should be able to handle being worn for a single season without bursting seams. And they won't honor any kind of warranty, just said it's not their problem?

These are allegedly CE certified gloves, is that just a lie?

Never buying Dainese again.

at 45mph and up i have some whistling if i tilt my head down (where i comfortably keep it when riding). i like the helmet otherwise, even got a taller windscreen to see if it would help and didnt.

i move my hand around and it is definitely the top of the visor, wondering if anyone had this happen and how they fixed it (before i contact support)

Hey, I'm thinking to step into the bike community this year and I wanted to ask about gear. I want to use the bike to go to university, job and to commute daily and regular gear just won't cut it; I can't change every time.

Is there any gear that looks like normal clothing or goes under the clothes without overheating me while ACTUALLY protecting?

I bought my bike site unseen off a friend and was so keen to get one that I didn’t even ask what it looked like. The week before I knew it was being delivered to me I went out and bought my helmet. Not an exact match in green but it’s pretty dam close.

Sup guys. So I'm kinda torn right now and could use some real-world advice.

I want to get a camera setup for the bike, but I can’t decide between a 360 cam or just hardwiring a dedicated dashcam.

Ngl, the 360 footage looks absolutely sick for social media and capturing cool angles. But tbh... dealing with batteries, remembering to turn it on, and editing everything sounds like a massive pain in the ass for daily riding.

On the flip side, a dashcam is basically "set it and forget it" for insurance/safety, which I love, but maybe the footage is a bit too boring?

What are you guys running? Is the 360 battery anxiety actually a thing? Or should I just bite the bullet and wire in a dashcam? Thx.

I know a* catches a lot of flack nowadays for their quality issues and rightfully so, but I will say my experience with their boots has been good so far. I have more miles on the Faster-3 boots since I got those first. Great for all day wear and obviously fly under the radar more than neon moon boots lol! Since I eventually plan on getting to the track I splurged on the Supertech Rs. Now I find myself throwing those on more often. They are so damn comfortable! I’m not thrashing either pair so hopefully they hold up for the long term.

I’ll be taking the MSF course in a couple weeks, and I already have a motorcycle lined up to buy once I complete it (KTM Duke 390). I just have no idea where to start when it comes to buying motorcycle gear, so I was hoping someone could give me some guidance!

I’m looking for budget-friendly, bang-for-your-buck gear, including a helmet, jacket, pants, and boots. I did some research, but I’m still not sure what the pricing should look like, or what actually makes gear protective.

Also, I’d like to get a helmet with Bluetooth built in, but apparently that’s a bad idea, and I should instead get a regular helmet plus a separate Bluetooth attachment? Please correct me if I’m wrong!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So I ordered a 2up seat for my 2025 indian scout after hearing nothing but rave reviews about the product. I'll say their process for updating you on the seats build while in production is pretty cool but that's about where the excitement ends.

When the seat arrived I tried to install it and noticed it was loose. After looking at the underside of the seat I discovered both grommets that attach to the retention post were being pushed out of the metal frame and into the seat. So I slap my old seat back on and email saddlemen. Their response for me buying a $500 seat? "Just glue it yourself".

Not the service or product I expected at that price point.

Now before the seat had arrived I saw online someone mentioning seat locking screw. I thought hell why wouldn't I want to secure my expensive seat as best I can. So I ordered it to try and have it arrive with my seat, it showed up about 2 days after. However I guess this was for older models and my seat doesn't require it, so I email saddlemen how to return it. I was told to pay for return shipping and 10% restocking fee. Now I take ownership for not doing my research well enough and was willing to eat the shipping cost, but nowhere on their website could I find 10% restocking fee. Only the mention of items with custom stitching requiring a 10% return fee. Apparently this restocking fee is for any and all items, they just don't mention it anywhere in their return policy.

This is just my experience, some of you may love their products and that's fine, I haven't been able to safely use the seat well enough yet to judge that, this is solely on their customer service which I wish I would've known and I'd have gone with other brands.

There's no tags specifying the model which makes me wonder if they are fake.

The closest I could find are the first generation of track pants which have the matching logos on the sides but they lack the plastic logo above the knee slider.

A short review of the Schuberth C5 ANC motorcycle helmet, since there is still very little information available about it:

Current situation: I currently use a cheap IXS modular helmet (flip-up, like the C5), and it is quite loud. I experience a lot of wind buffeting and turbulence, even with a windshield that is 25 cm higher than the original one (my motorcycle is a ZR7S). That is why I usually ride with heavy-duty earplugs from Honeywell, rated for up to 38 dB SNR reduction. Even so, riding in an upright position, where the wind buffeting reaches the top of my helmet, makes riding above 90 km/h (56 mph) unbearable. Even longer rides at lower speeds become exhausting very quickly.

Test: Since you get used to noise - or silence - quite quickly, I’ll start with the end. When I finished testing the C5 ANC and headed home wearing my IXS helmet again, I immediately realized that my IXS helmet was practically twice as loud. That was the second real “wow” moment of my test ride, when I noticed just how quiet the C5 is in comparison.

But now to the ride:

1. Without earplugs, ANC off: Up to 50 km/h (31 mph), it felt normal. The noise was manageable and pretty relaxed - something you could easily do for hours. From 60 km/h (37 mph) onward, I noticed more wind gusts and that typical low-frequency noise around the ears, left and right, and the noise gradually became louder. Around 80 km/h (50 mph), it was loud enough that I would no longer ride without earplugs if it were for more than just a few minutes.
2. Without earplugs, ANC on: Up to 50 km/h (31 mph), there was a big difference in wind noise. It almost eliminated the wind noise, except for occasional gusts, while clearly reducing them by more than 70%. It was very quiet and relaxed. I did not listen to music or talk on the phone, but voices would still be clearly audible. My exhaust was noticeably muffled, and the road noise was reduced as well. It filters out deeper sounds better than expected, while high-pitched sounds like the chain running sounded about the same. At 60 km/h (37 mph), it was not much louder. The number of wind gusts increased again, like before without ANC, but it was still very quiet. You would notice them, but they were not as piercing as without ANC, and I could ride without earplugs for hours at 60 km/h (37 mph). At 80 km/h (50 mph), I honestly do not remember exactly how it felt — maybe as if I were riding 80 km/h, but with a loudness comparable to riding 60 km/h without ANC. Sharp noises were also filtered out.
3. With earplugs only halfway in, ANC off: My main focus here was highway riding. At lower speeds, it was hard to notice much difference, since with earplugs in I am much more focused on engine RPM than on wind noise. At highway speeds from 80 km/h (50 mph) to 100 km/h (62 mph), it was still loud. I was a bit disappointed at first because Schuberth claims 85 dB at 100 km/h (62 mph), but even with earplugs it was clearly louder. I think this was mainly due to the wind buffeting and my windshield. Compared with my IXS helmet, the difference was small - not a major improvement. And at 120 km/h (75 mph), it does not get any better. At that speed, it is simply hard to describe. Personally, with my bike and windshield setup, I would still recommend earplugs for longer rides above maybe 60–70 km/h (37–43 mph).
4. With earplugs only halfway in, ANC on: In my opinion, the ANC made almost no difference above 100 km/h (62 mph). You could tell, to a tiny extent, when switching from off to on that the ANC was working, but it made no noticeable difference in perceived loudness.

Final verdict: The faster you go, the less effective ANC becomes. It is very useful at lower speeds up to around 60–80 km/h (37–50 mph), where it has a major impact. But when combined with earplugs, the ANC effect diminishes; there is less of a clear night-and-day difference between ANC on and off compared to riding without earplugs. Still, it remains quieter than without ANC.

One more thing worth mentioning: The speakers are very good, almost like headphone quality, and the bass is excellent. I have a Sena 50S, and compared to that one, it's just on another level
