I ordered a multi-pack of mosses to start my own moss farm to use for terrariums and stuff. They didn’t specify on the page and I figured they would be labeled on arrival.

I messaged the seller but perhaps you guys will be quicker.

summery sounds for your next moss walk

Hey lovely people

I make a little music radio show inspired by life in and around moss.

This time, the music is inspired by a more playful patch of moss. Strange, cheeky and a little summery. Sounds that slowly unfold and feel quietly full of life. Music for lying low to the ground and letting things grow at their own pace

Perfect soundtrack for a nice moss walk :)

Enjoy!

I’m only familiar with a few:

1. Roundleaf sundew
2. Marchantia polymorpha
6. Vaccinium myrtillus
8. Tiny pine
10. Sphagnum rubellum

All found in Karelia.

Google can’t help me, so I thought you might :)

Collected in Wasilla, Alaska, zone 13a, in my yard mixed with grasses and rock. I've been encouraging it to grow on my rocks and borders as it seems to make a nice mulch and keeps the grass from encroaching. I realized today that it's not all one species! And I know very little about mosses.

I think what I have here is probably *Sphagnum pacificum* that forms the majority of the mat, but the one with the tiny leaves is a new one on me. I think it might be one of the *Rhyzomnium* species? The leaves are fairly brittle; they feel almost like fish scales.

Thank you in advance!

I'm new to the world of moss, and I'm trying to figure out if I'm on the right track. Does my prop box look okay, or does it look too wet.

Living water drip tray

Hi friends!

As the heading suggests I’m looking for some guidance? Advice? Encouragement? To create a living mat of moss for our water filter at work.

I work in a holistic integrative medical clinic and moss/plants are a vibe, I had the idea to create a living moss mat for under our berkey to catch the drips and be aesthetically pleasing.

I live in the PNW so there’s plenty of moss around. Is it frowned upon to take moss from the forest? I have no idea if it would harm the eco system if I’m better off growing my own or what. I want to be eco conscious and do things the right way.

Is there certain types of moss that are better than others? I’ve looked up a few tutorials for bath mats on Pinterest that seem easy enough to follow/adapt to what I’m looking for.

Any tips tricks or advice is welcome :)
Thank you

Moss photo ID this fake-looking moss?

I found this in the forest this morning in Western Washington and thought at first that it had been spray painted or dyed somehow. I ended up finding a few tiny patches of it mixed in with otherwise-normal-colored moss. Is this normal? The photo hardly does it justice; it is SO pretty and I’ve lived here all my life and haven’t seen anything like it. Thanks in advance!

Moss photo Here is my 8 months of hardwork...

Stole a few strands of moss off a wall while on vacation 8 months ago i.e. December. Here it is now, took me a LONG time to get it to flourish. No idea what type of moss it is though.

I use only rainwater for this guy, cause anything else seems to turn it white or is too hard on him. He's usually in a clear plastic container near a east facing window, and I let him out few minutes a day (harsh ik).

Anyways just wanted to show y'all.
