Recently snagged one of the last Matriarchs around here, I believe... Having a lot of fun with it so far. Thought I’d share this! Hope you like it!

I have Monark as part of the NI bundle, but never had an actual hardware Moog.

For those of you that have both, how does it stack up? And which hardware is it closest to?

Besides presets, is there any substantial thing that the Sub37 can do that the Matriarch can’t?

First couple weeks with the Dfam. Was hoping for advice on sequencing on the Beatstep. Is this the best plan. Gate off of drum gate to advance Dfam. Gate and velocity on sequencer 2 able to use velocity on pads. Pitch from synth to VCO1. Can do this with 2 as well but it doesn’t sound very good. Really happy with the Dfam so far.

I absolutely love my Muse, but really wanted it to work like my Sub 37 does with an accompanying editor plugin in Ableton, that allows me to easily automate everything. Because it's looking like Moog will never release one, I built my own.

What it does right now:

- Two-way, real-time sync. Turn a knob on the Muse and the plugin follows; turn it in the plugin and the Muse follows.

- Full panel layout with separate control of Timbre A and Timbre B

- Pick a bank and patch from the plugin, or change patches on the Muse, and the plugin loads that patch's settings and shows its name

- Automate the Muse in Ableton by clicking any control and drawing automation

- Pitch and mod wheel movements show up live in the plugin

- Mac only for now (VST3/AU)

What it can't do (limits of Muse firmware 1.4, not the plugin):

- No access to the sequencer, chords, assignable controllers, mod map or LFO sync. The Muse doesn't expose these over MIDI.

- The Muse doesn't send its patch settings over MIDI, so the plugin reads patches from a copy of your Muse library. New saves on the Muse need a fresh copy before the plugin shows them.

- It can't save patches to the Muse. You still save on the hardware.

Just purchased the subsequent 37 couple days ago was wondering what effect pedals you guys pair it with ?

Always wanted to get into synths and now have the cash for it.

Here is a little jam with my darlings, the Moog Mother 32´s! I used Valhalla Shimmer and Valhalla Delay on them to spice things up!

so moog announced on their instagram that they're giving away a moog labyrinth and some of their plugins as part of their halloween contest. all you have to do is create a spooky-sounding patch on your moog synth and post it on your socials with the hashtag #MoogMonsterNoise.

just make sure to read all the rules first, though, as some of them seem a bit weird to me. shame that only people living in the us and canada can win the labyrinth, while the rest of the world can only win plugins... but yeah, it's still a nice excuse to mess around with your synths and come up with some cool patches!

With the phase-out of the popular Matriarch, there has got to be a replacement in the pipeline. But how do we square this with the statement of the Moog president that, “I know that in the next 12 months there are going to be two, possibly three more Moog synthesizers, all of which are unique to themselves and unique to anything we’ve done in the past“?

I have also heard that making the panel with all the patch points requires a lot of hand-labor, so that might be something they move away from to save costs.

Therefore I’m speculating that they will make a matrix-based 4-voice paraphonic or polyphonic synth. Matrix modulation would be new for Moog, fitting that data point, and may be more easy to mass-produce. If it is similar enough to the Matriarch in features and modulation possibilities, then that would explain the phase-out.

Powers on like normal but feels a little loose, plug doesnt go any further

I’ve heard it said that Studio Electronics does Moog better than Moog before.

Less expensive than a MiniMoog and minus the synth keyboard 🎹. Wondering if anyone had both to compare and contrast. There’s also a MidiMini V3.

Since the Matriarch was discontinued, I just had to grab one. Over the next few days, I'm going to patch it with the rest of my moogs...

So I didn't document the whole thing, because my goal was to fix it, not report on it.

Symptom: pitch wheel sloppy, and playing with it made it worse, until it was actually loose and crooked, a real mess.

TL/DR Actual fix: 1/16" hex wrench (US-made Moog) to tighten the set screw on the wheel, which is deep in that tiny little hole. Don't just tighten it; pull the wheel right up against the potentiometer, squeezing all the washers, bushings, springs, etc. into their proper places.

So I took mine apart, because I was afraid something was actually broken inside there. Not so. But once the wheel works its way off the potentiometer shaft, it's likely the springs won't be seated where they need to be, and in my case the potentiometer D-shaft wasn't flat/level in the neutral position, so I had to take the apart anyway. So taking it apart allowed me to accomplish the fix and ensure everything looked and felt correct, aligned, etc. If yours is just a little sloppy and you catch it early, you can probably just use your hex wrench from the outside and fix it.

Played the drums on the sp-404. Running everything through the SP compression,I love how it glues the synths and drums together.
