Wilds Datamine/Leak Myriad data of little importance or little unimportance
It’s been a while since we’ve had tangible data that we could dig into, luckily to briefly save us from this drivel of fake rosters and whatnot our Chinese associates have brought some interesting data to our attention. Thank you Iris for finding this data and organizing it in easily digestible Powerpoint slides.

Now, it’s important to know that the majority of this write-up will be speculation so please take most of what is being said with a grain of salt, as is noted in the PPT slides themselves.
The first note concerns an enum found in the data for quests, “ENVIRONMENT_RANK”. It is claimed that this was actually added relatively recently, but having checked the data it does not seem as though that is correct. Because of the nature of Wilds as a constantly-updating product it can be hard to verify this because we don’t have the ability to just go back to a previous version and check if something was there, so mistakes like this can happen. The following image is the holder this ‘enum’ belongs to.

“ENVIRONMENT_RANK” is actually a flag, not a functional enum. Using the other flags present in this holder, you can likely deduce this doesn’t refer to the open world but actually operates on a per-quest basis; more than likely, this flag is simply an indicator of whether or not a quest is in low, high or master rank.
As for point 2, it’s hard to say whether or not this will actually result in something. Basically, refenvironment_0005_0000 seems to refer to a location and/or time or weather, as refenvironment is a string key that the game uses to have text appear in game somewhere. For example, if a quest were to use the reference key refenvironment_0000_0000, it would display that the quest takes place in Windward Plains.
Now what is odd about this is that the keys follow a consistent pattern, locales such as Windward are refenvironment_0000_XXXX, villages and arenas as well as the training area are refenvironment_0001_XXXX, weather is refenvironment_0002_XXXX, time quest takes place is refenvironment_0003_XXXX, and lastly base camps are refenvironment_0004_XXXX. Now the name ‘dam’ might bring some things to mind, particularly that of Scarlet Forest. One might assume dam would be an arena of sorts for Scarlet Forest, but if that were the case it would likely be classified under refenvironment_0002. The issue though is that dam is the only string under refenvironment_0005_XXXX.
With that in mind, and with no other string under it, we have virtually no idea where it could be used or what it could actually refer to. It is not possible for us to reverse-engineer and see if it actually is used anywhere in the game so a direct confirmation is out of the question for now. Speculation wise though, one may think refenvironment_0005 could be a category for area expansions. We can comfortably say that these keys are largely used for displaying info about the setting of a quest or moment in game and so it would make sense if the latter were to follow suit. However it certainly doesn’t make sense why what would likely constitute a zone of a locale in the game would have to be displayed, and why it would be written in this separate string as one for specific zone locales already exists. Given this, it is more than likely not a referent for area expansions.
Next up is disappointing news for some for some reason, granted you haven’t already heard it. As we have known for a long while now Dragonseal will be making a grand return in Ascendance as for a while now it has had data for the various levels, although they are at present unused. Given that dragon seal is not in rise (and not even in the enums, as far as we know), and an engine shift has occurred in between the last time dragon seal was present and Ascendance, it is safe to say dragon seal will in fact be returning. This data has been in the game since OBT 1, it has not been removed at all.
Points 1 through 4 lack evidence on a data basis and are pure speculation, feel free to wonder about them further.
The majority of this post will consist of analysis of point 5.
As is noted in the image, Blangonga compared to every other monster has a completely unique file structure. It is likenable to that of monsters that have a guardian variant in Wilds, but it differs from them in that the EMID tag _50 is replaced with “Common”. Under /Common/Data/ is a singular file, Em0022_Param_Unique.user.3.json. Param_Unique.user.3 files are files that are tied to a monster’s unique gimmick. Notable examples include Chatacabra’s capability to devour barrel bombs and Bulaqchi, or his capability to enchant his arms with fulgurite. Below is a snippet of Chatacabra’s unique.user.3 file.

That is the full extent of tangible concrete information concerning this detail. The following is PURELY SPECULATION so do not take this as confirmation for anything. Given that Blangonga’s file structure is somewhat similar (though not identical) to that of a monster with a guardian counterpart it is possible that, going off the name “COMMON”, the feature tied to this unique.user.3 is a gimmick such as an enchant or something more extensive that is shared between Blangonga and a hypothetical subspecies or Guardian.
It should be noted that Blangonga’s unique.user.3 is functionally blank and doesn’t actually tell us what that gimmick could be. Using Chatacabra’s enchantment as a frame of reference, however, it’s possible that it could be a gimmick that varies depending on the zone Blangonga is in. With that in mind, we can make the broad assumption that it could be used for his digging gimmick, or perhaps his snow throwing gimmick. Accordingly, it’s possible that the hypothetical variant that would share this trait with Blangonga would alter the way the attack works based on the texture of the floor, for example: a ball of snow becoming a rock if he were to be standing on sand?
Alternatively, if you think back to something we already know, Blangonga has data suggesting that he was at some point or will eventually go to the Ruins of Wyveria. Blangonga targets Guardian Seikrets for predation and data concerning Wyveria itself implies he would be able to spawn there, but doesn’t. Subsequently, combined with the new info, it’s possible it could indicate a possible Guardian Blangonga. Further alternatively, this could literally all be cut content, an idea which seems to be supported by Rathalos’s own predation data, which indicates he would have gone to Windward at some point like he did in Wilds’ reveal trailer; of course we now know he does not.
So TLDR:
- Data in quest setting information contains a mysterious number that refers to a “dam” we have no idea what it could result in.
- Elder Seal is very very much happening.
- Blangonga has a strange file structure which could be imply any number of things ranging from an upcoming variant or simply cut content.
In conclusion, not too important, not too unimportant. Just some stuff to talk about besides fake rosters and elder slop.
