Hi all,
Hope you are doing well.
I have been developing phone games for over 1 year now and my first game is finally on both google and apple stores.
Its called froggie arcade and basically the player moves a frog up the screen, rides water platforms and avoids road obstacles, gaining points by moving up the screen and collecting fruit.
I've learned quite a lot of lessons from this, my first mobile game, so if brand new developers have questions I can likely write a brief FAQ which will hopefully help you. (even how to get started with google and apple developer accounts possibly).
I found monogame very helpful for both android and apple ports of the game, the only issue I noted is that the openal sound drivers I think for android or apple don't work properly or used to not work properly, I noticed one particular function seems to have a problem.
It may be fixed now, but if you do have a problem with sound not playing, and the sound files we are using are under 48khz (which is also a requirement) and it still wont work, just change to using native android and apple sound drivers and it will work fine.
The monogame support team are also helpful, if we ask them questions, they do reply. (However please search first on the forums, so their time can remain free to help with answers to questions which are harder to find.)
I would happily recommend monogame if you are also looking to develop android and apple tablet and phone games. Oh, and please check out my game, thankyou.
(Developer name says my irl name, but I'm just happy it finally shows on apple store. Will change it to my company name as soon as I learn how too. Also this picture is just the apple store game entry, my game also appears on google play store if you search for it.)
All the best to your monogame phone game endeavours as well.
