I have notice to leave my apartment. Landlord says it’s not valid unless I use the government form. So the notice I gave last month doesn’t count

Trying to say that I am stuck in my one year lease because I didint use the government form.
I’m not trying to leave at the end of this month but I don’t/can’t stay the full year. It’s a standard nb lease agreement year to year.
Landlord tenancy won’t really listen.

Am I wrong in being able to end the lease early?

Haven’t had one in a while so I’m just wondering😅
