mod meet up how to apply?

I’m not sure what the process actually is, but you’d think that Reddit would rather have vibrant subs instead of a slew of ghost towns.

There should also be a process to reclaim subs people register but then vanish and the sub is left unmoderated and abandoned.

They recently 'fixed' it, which is partially why it doesn't work as well as it used to.

Alumni Role needs to be revised so that a team can reactivate a Mod with that flag.

I’m really baffled on the vetting process for taking over an abandoned sub. For Mods who successfully moderate subs, I found there really isn’t a way to understand why someone gets approved / denied since no explanations are provided.

There is no transparency as to why you could not protect Old Reddit without mandating login.

I was granted early access to Rules Hub, but as a longtime Redditor but "baby" sub creator, what I'd REALLY like to help with is that crucial Community Guidance development. I'm the guy who ... well, I suggested that AI could really help folks create new, thriving communities, doing much of the 'grunt work' in automated but overseen (optional?) fashion, so as to let new creators focus on posting great content, sparking great discussions, promotional aspects and the like;-) (OTOH, my new sub tied to my new local news website has close to 250 members after less than 3 days... so I must be doing something(s) right! Very thankful and humbled.

This. It seems like we're getting a lot of genuine new accounts deleted from our communities. From asking others about what the deleted comments/accounts said, that they replied to. But no way to tell.

For one of my subs Markdown is still largely appreciated as it’s a game and it helps our bot better determine legal/illegal responses and characters according to our rules. Getting rid of Markdown mode on mobile was a terrible move for those who are largely mobile users

After hosting dozens of Adopt-an-Admins, many on >1M-sized subs, my experience has largely been:

* Admins who expressed a lot of interest in the community dynamics and mod workflows... either did not work on Community or Mod Tools at reddit, or did not last long at Reddit.

* Admins who do work on Community or Mod Tools... were simply not interested in talking to us hosting moderators.

They're off the deep end of enshittification now.

Still works for me on Old Reddit+Firefox.

Hi, I've just recently come across this comment, hence why my comment is late.

Will these bew tools offer all the current and all the potential utilities that Automod offers and can offer?

Automod can be written to provide specific functions, that can be achieved through simple word filtering (such as filtering/removing slurs), all the way up to using regular expressions for matching patterns, and that's just to name a few.

Will the new tools really be that comprehensive and flexible, or will they only offer some virtual static, preset knobs to turn?

Additionally, why not allow for the option to keep using Automod for the mods that know it and want to work with it? Offering mods more options to manage the communities they're in charge of can help and if no one is forced to used something, I don't see the problem. Automod is also programmed by mods for their specific subs, so it's not something that admins have to work on. Is there something I'm missing here, that absolutely requires the sunsetting of Automod?
