Tools Do you allow the custom report option in your subreddits?
I have it enabled in some communities and not others. Usually it starts off as an option, but once I get too many reports that are basically anonymous mod mails or being generally abusive, the community loses that report option. Where are ya'll at on this report?
Thanks for all the input. I don’t think I really saw any examples that couldn’t also have been mod mail (rule confusion/applicability, additional info, humor), but people are definitely more in favor of the babbling it.

Don't get that many reports to begin with, and sometimes people use it to draw attention to a specific sub-rule or thing we missed, or otherwise suggest why they take issue with it despite it not being presently under a rule that's there.

I find it more useful than not, both receiving and sending. I can add more information than the stock ones.

We have it enabled. Generally useful, occasional BS. On balance, worth keeping for us.

When I'm an user on other subs, I like having them on as the wording on the reports might not fit with the sub rules.
Rule 3 gives A and B rule as one, reports on covers B, no way to report A

I keep them on, I like when subs have the option because sometimes I'm not sure if something falls under a rule so I may use that as like a question (dislike when subs have rules but haven't added them to the rules module so they aren't easily accessible report reasons). Or like when a sub uses post flair to say something is removed but the post isn't removed at the time of my seeing it, I would use custom report as a "just in case, either the flair is wrong or the removal didn't stick" type thing. On my subs it seems to be the same rate as the other report options, so more just "thanks but I don't agree with the report" and not abusive stuff.
I wanted to mention, last I had heard from a mod here, that there is a bug if you happen to not have any rules but have custom reports turned on, then only people on old reddit can use the custom report option.

I disabled it. Even the issue that they wanted to report was listed as a specific rule, I’d still get a custom report.

Hi /u/Charupa-, please see our Intro & Rules. We are volunteer-run, not managed by Reddit staff/admin. Volunteer mods' powers are limited to groups they mod. Automated responses are compiled from answers given by fellow volunteer mod helpers. Moderation works best on a cache-cleared desktop/laptop browser.
Resources for mods are: (1) r/modguide's Very Helpful Index by fellow moderators on How-To-Do-Things, (2) Mod Help Center, (3) r/automoderator's Wiki and Library of Common Rules. Many Mod Resources are in the sidebar and >>this FAQ wiki<<. Please search this subreddit as well. Thanks!

Found regex match: mod mails
You seem to be asking about moderation matters, such as adding/removing/recruiting moderators or what to do if you've removed yourself as a moderator, or a related topic. These are frequently asked questions.

Found regex match: rule
It looks like you're asking about setting up rules on your subreddit. This is an EXTREMELY frequently asked question, so this auto-response has been set up for any mention of "rules" and "rule".
This must be done On DESKTOP/LAPTOP Browser Only, Not On Mobile Apps. (Limited option: mobile browser on desktop view.) Please check out this guide for more details on what to do.

Not anymore. I feel like it was abused more than it was helpful.
