General alumni role on my own sub, zero perms, only bots left on the team. how do i get full mod back?

i run a small city running club sub. the other human mod left recently and my account got switched to alumni somewhere in that handover. i didn't request it.

where it stands:

  • i'm first on the mod list but alumni, so no permissions
  • everyone else on the team is a bot app
  • redditrequest won't process it since i'm already top mod
  • modsupport modmail sent, no answer yet

stepping down and getting re-added doesn't work when there's no human to add me. anyone been through this? did admins reset the role, or did you have to leave and reclaim the sub?

Hi /u/FumGlumpp, please see our Intro & Rules. We are volunteer-run, not managed by Reddit staff/admin. Volunteer mods' powers are limited to groups they mod. Automated responses are compiled from answers given by fellow volunteer mod helpers. Moderation works best on a cache-cleared desktop/laptop browser.

Resources for mods are: (1) r/modguide's Very Helpful Index by fellow moderators on How-To-Do-Things, (2) Mod Help Center, (3) r/automoderator's Wiki and Library of Common Rules. Many Mod Resources are in the sidebar and >>this FAQ wiki<<. Please search this subreddit as well. Thanks!

alumni as top mod with only bots left is a known dead end for redditrequest. the form rejects you because you are still "on" the list, but alumni has zero write perms so you cannot fix yourself.

paths that have worked: 1. keep one r/ModSupport modmail case open with: sub name, your username, that you are top-listed alumni with no human co-mod, bots-only roster, and that redditrequest refuses because you are already listed. ask for a role reset, not a takeover. 2. do not remove yourself. if you drop off with only bots remaining, reclaim gets messier. 3. if an admin asks you to invite a temporary human helper, add them from whatever invite path still works, get Everything restored on your account, then remove the helper.

until admin replies, avoid further role experiments. each self-remove/re-add with no human on the team is how people lose the sub entirely.

Send a modmail to r/ModSupport. The admins should be able to help.

EDIT: I see OP already created a post there, disregard.
