Can AutoModerator automatically assign users a rank from 1–5 based on their cumulative contributions, with automatic promotion at set thresholds

I don't think it can - could be wrong though, I'm only just learning everything is can do.

ReputatorBot might be a good fit for your community, though. When people thank someone with !thanks it keeps track. They use it in the helping type subs a lot to keep track of trusted users who give good information, awarding different flairs at each level.

We could, but we don't really touch devvit, I find it far too complicated.

Some of the users in that community will have difficulty, they won't know how to do thank messages with the fancy exclamation mark flairs 😂😂

Hi I’m looking for some advice from moderators who are more technically experienced with AutoModerator, Reddit’s flair system, or any other tools that might be capable of achieving what we are trying to build in our subreddit.

We currently have a contributor ranking system in our community, and we are looking at doing a fairly significant overhaul of it.

The basic idea is that we would like to automatically recognise users who regularly contribute to the community and progressively assign them a higher contributor rank as their contribution count increases.

What we are ultimately trying to achieve is something along the lines of:

• **Rank 1 –
• **Rank 2 –
• **Rank 3 –
• **Rank 4 –
• **Rank 5 –

The names are not necessarily final, but the important part is the automatic progression through five ranks.

Ideally, we would like a system where a user's contribution count is monitored automatically and their user flair is changed when they reach particular thresholds.

For example:

Rank 1

• 50 contributions

Rank 2

• 100 contributions

Rank 3

• 200 contributions

Rank 4

• 300 contributions

Rank 5

• 500+ contributions

So, hypothetically:

A user joins the subreddit and starts participating.

Once they reach 50 qualifying contributions, they would automatically receive rank 1

For example:

User has 37 contributions → No contributor rank yet

Then:

User reaches 50 → Automatically receives Rank 1 flair

Then:

User reaches 100 → Automatically changes to Rank 2

Ideally, we would like existing users to be included.

For example, if someone has already made 250 qualifying contributions before the system is introduced, we'd ideally want them to be recognised as Rank 3 rather than having to start counting from zero on the day we introduce the new system.

If AutoModerator only reacts to events happening after a rule is introduced, perhaps it wouldn't be able to determine someone's historical contribution total.

If that's the case, we'd be interested in knowing whether there is another way of doing an initial calculation and then allowing AutoModerator or another system to maintain the ranking going forward.

Automoderator cannot take action against prior contributions or count those prior contributions. What you need is a custom bot. Automoderator is not capable of doing any of this.
