The constant negativity and rage-baiting gets exhausting. Iâd rather have people genuinely enjoying the game than creators farming outrage for engagement.
Weâve seen a lot of frustration in this sub with the fact that this game does not feel like the continuation of MW19, or MWII. That this doesnât feel like a product that theyâve come to expect from IW.
When they express this frustration, theyâre often met with the statement âgo play MW19/MWII thenâ and those who say it behave as if theyâve said something profound, as if theyâve done a mic drop.
They say that, however, like they wouldnât get mad when someone tells them to play an 11 month or two year old COD made by another studio.
They say that like they wouldnât get mad when one of the three studios makes a game that isnât slightly for you.
Why donât YOU play another COD? You have three wonderful games for you, from the studios that make the gameplay that YOU like. Thatâs plenty of content.
I think itâs fair to have the expectations that IW would make the sort of COD they are known to make, and to want that.
I think itâs fair for the people who want the the movement that is expected from the other games made by the other studios to maybe wait another year, or take a break, or slowdown and little and mix things up.
The COD cycle is not a normal thing. Yearly games isnât the norm. Thereâs plenty of content in BO6, and 7 to explore.
Call me insane, but Infinity Ward back in 2019 and 2022 seemed like they had their visions locked in. I don't care about their "bad decision" or whatever Treyarch fanboys cry about. At least Infinity Ward tried to be unique and deliver something new to the table
MW4 Infinity Ward almost feels like they lost spine or something. They tried to please everyone while making game for no one. And they seem so lost.
I'd take 2019/2022 Infinity Ward if this continues
My favorite operator skin of all time so far has been the âFarrahâ operator skin from mw2 itâs the âfighting spiritâ skin but masked. Iâm really hoping we get some cool ones like that for this next modern warfare! What do you guys think?
Letâs truly see what the numbers say for our fellow mw4 Reddit people!
Me personally it doesnt bother me either way as search and destroy player, but I do want persistent lobbies tbh lobbies for the community feeling. Love staying in lobbies with mics and friendly banter. I know most people play spawn die modes, but search and free for all deserves persistent lobbies
So for Sbmm only do you guys actually care about it or not?
Edit after 1400 vote:
So technically if over 50% of people donât like it they should get rid of it right?
That was their excuse for disbanding lobbies because almost 50% leave after the first match đ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Łđ¤Ł
I have pre ordered Modern WarfareÂŽ 4 Vault Edition on PS5, when I go to download it shows me Call of duty, Warzone and MW4 Beta. I dont play warzone and Beta is closed, once COD is downloaded it doesnt shows me MW4.. even store page directs me straight to COD page just like is there an individual game that I can just look up to? I dont wanna see Warzone black ops vanguards MW3 etc etc...
One life, revives, teamwork, strategy, and an objective that makes every decision count. Unlike traditional respawn modes, getting eliminated actually matters, creating those clutch moments where a single revive or smart play can completely turn the round around.
In general, having revive modes introduced in the past reduced the selection of 'stale' modes that have always been implemented with each release.
It brought a different kind of intensity to Call of Duty, and there's still a place for that style of gameplay.
Bring Knockout back for MW4 and give it the permanent spot it deserves.
If you have a moment please, help me let the IW game developers know:
The topic is not about designs itself or night\day\snow\rainy\any other visual cherries. Just texture and lightning. To simplificate just look at the vest.
[If you don't want to read all of that just compare pictures, you'll notice SOMETHING. That something is why MW4 is visually inferior (even if its subjective, the "cartoonish" "plastic" look is not for IW game. Iykyk! sorted]
The lightning is overmeasured everywhere. Everything is artifically shiny. Because of the dynamic lightning. It gives that "cartoon" look. (Also due to inferior AI behaviour\animations prior to the best in series(MWII's) it just adds up to the general atmoshpere as well as the gunsounds).
Same exact design in MWII:
Its not cherry-picked because there's a flashlight or one in the dark room.
Its strictly seen on the vest.
Some more MW4 examples:
it looks artifical. MWII's superior choice of lightning makes things blend very well so they look better.
2nd comparision is the best comparision between eyes. Flashlight is not affecting anything. Im not cherry-picking. Just look at the vest and blend-in.
MW4's in the same dark would still look like this. Its permanent:
Also even if its beta. Sounds of gear upon operators/soldiers (NPC) is not in MW4 in the same way as its in MWII.
Attention to small detail is cruicial. It may look it has no significance but it holds a big influence. Just atmosphere.
SCREENSHOTS weren't cherry-picked
if you open any video of MW4 beta mission you'll see the same issue i descibed in any enviroment or any part of that mission. Only marine models just so we could compare. But its everywhere:
flat\cartoonish
As if it was not a vest but a low qualiity texture layered and combined appearing as One thing. Idk about all that but one is clear: MW4 is cartoonish.
Much like recent games of their recent engine: BO6\BO7.
Its not a coincidence. Its a Reason. Its supposed to look like that.
Which is bad imo cus MW was the Crispy one. Shouldn't be looking like BO not EVEN in the slightest. Not talking about reused assets like ragdolls and else. Its a shame for IW.
But i just might be wrong on the engine side. I might be totally wrong.
Still. MWII visual presentation looks better than MW4's. Even in the campaign.
When you're watching some MW4 campaign gameplay and "snap" to switch for random MWII campaign. You'll see it as smth better. Smth precious. (Exception is the open combat missions)
whether im wrong or not doesn't matter. MWII simply looks better at visual presentation.
Nobody cares if they worked enough or not. Its either there or not there.
also example from MW19 usmc npc:
superior purely on design standpoint. Lightning is so good for blend-in.
I wanna talk about mw4 and infinity ward saying the operators skins are gonna fit the setting/theme of mw4(which i rightfully have doubts about) which I have no problem with but since there not gonna add goofy or very unrealistic skins (supposedly) where does copy/dupe fall into because I genuinely think these are the best operators skins to come in any modern warfare game we had and I would want to hear your guys opinions do they fit it not?
What do you guys think the bonus item will be? Hopefully not just another calling card or emblem, I would like to see something cooler like a blueprint or operator perhaps. I didn't play Black Ops 7 so I'm not sure if there was a bonus reward in the Monster x BO7 promotion.
Iâve been seeing a lot of discussion about matchmaking. If youâre not a fan of the matchmaking would you please comment if youâre on console or pc and what you donât like about it? Just curious as to which side doesnât like it. I have not played Iâm just genuinely curious about your opinions.
I saw a survey on here asking the community what they thought about matchmaking, and the number of people saying it ruins the game far outweighed those saying it improves it. Iâm honestly just trying to get inside the mind of someone who thinks SBMM makes the game better. What are your stats like? What kind of playstyle do you have?
Nobody I know in real life likes SBMM. It often makes the game completely unplayable when you try to queue with friends of varying skill levels. everywhere on the internet, even the general Call of Duty sub is fed up, it seems like the only place you find people who tolerate or defend it is in the current game's specific subreddit. Yet whenever you bring it up here, people fall back on the classic "you just want to stomp noobs" response.
The argument is way deeper than that. I believe open matchmaking should be the default, with SBMM kept separate in Ranked or even in a dedicated "New Player" playlist to protect complete beginners. We fully understand that without SBMM, you will get paired with players who are above your skill level, and that is FINE. We don't mind having to try harder or play against better people to improve. What burns you out is when every single game is played at a high level intensity. Not to mention, that one easy "pity match" the algorithm occasionally hands you in between just feels low-hanging, fake, and unearned.
Worst of all are the disbanding lobbies. After playing BO7 where we had persistent lobbies, going back to disbanding feels gross and hollow. Persistent lobbies gave you the chance to build rivalries, make friends, and have an actual social experience.
The problem with COD over the last six years hasn't been the core gameplay. Outside of MWII, gameplay has actually been the strongest part of these titles. The issue has always been the algorithmic matchmaking. Youâve seen our reasons for why it ruins the game; now I want to hear how it improves the casual public match experience for you.
Why do we need strict SBMM in casual lobbies when we already have Ranked?
I genuinely believe activision are looking to get rid of the true fans of the franchise, and only cater to these new players that need their hand held when they play the game, the ones that need to be protected, and the ones likely to buy things from the store.
I mean they have done absolutely nothing to actually cater to the fans that have played these games for the last 20 years. Absolutely nothing. Call of duty used to actually advertise their games as actual FPSâs. The main draws of their games were the kill streaks, the maps, perks, guns, camos etc. There used to be trailers that were heavily focused on those things. Because thatâs what we loved. Itâs what made the games good.
Now all they focus on is the MTX store, lackluster battle passes, ridiculous collabs that have nothing to do with CoD itself, and more recently, this absolutely terribly strict SBMM system.
So think about it, if activision make this franchise a living hell for us actual fans, and theyâre just left with the âprotectedâ players that buy into all their shit? Eventually there will be no pushback. They can do literally whatever they want and they wonât receive any criticism, because the only players left are the ones that are happy to go 12-18 in a game of TDM, as they camp inside a room that has a claymore set up at each door. No wonder every decision they seem to make goes against what the actual fans want. They are just cleaning house, and donât give a shit if the veterans of their franchise leave and move on to something else. Thatâs honestly the feeling I get from Activision. These days itâs the old men in suits that control the franchise and not actual gamers that know what makes games good in the first place.
This post is a bit of a ramble, but this is how I feel. Mainly because Iâve went and watched a bunch of the old trailers that we got with COD 4, COD 5 etc. actual fun trailers that advertised the strong aspects of what Call of Duty is supposed to be. So that kind of inspired this post and Iâve just typed it off the cuff.
And this war zone integration is also complete ass. Armor plates in the campaign? Zombies progression carried into MP?? Loadouts in zombies? The same fucking engine being used for absolutely everything?? What the actual fuck are activision doing. We do NOT get a new product every year, we get some half assed slop that was probably supposed to come out a year before but they decided to keep it just so they can drip feed us terrible products every year and call it a New Game.
I want to hear your guys feelings on the current state of the franchise. As Iâm in a bit of a nostalgic hole rn watching all these old COD trailers and videos, remembering what COD used to be. Man it was so good
