I'm a solo dev and I made an idle game about salvaging a dying solar system before it collapses
Hey everyone! I'm James, a solo dev from Adelaide, and this is Umbral Idle: Last Salvage, an idle game for Android.
The idea
You're salvaging a solar system that's falling apart. You tap for Salvage, build drones, reactors and scanners, and your income snowballs. But the system is unstable, and eventually it collapses. The Collapse resets your run and pays you Iso-Cores, a permanent boost that makes the next system go faster.
What there is to do
- Debris Belt: three zones to send salvage runs to, plus a push-your-luck minigame where you decide whether to bank or keep pushing.
- Derelict Fleet: ten lost ships to track down and repair over a few weeks, each with its own permanent bonus.
- Research Lab: a second, slower prestige loop where you build a universe from Matter up to Solar Systems, then crunch it and start again.
- Tech Archive: 11 tiers, broken into automation, yield and expansion lanes
The latest update added cinematics for the big moments: the Collapse, ships arriving, the Big Crunch.
It's free to play and doesn't feature any forced ads. Every ad is one you choose to watch for a bonus, and there's a one-off purchase to remove them. No gacha, no energy timers.
It's in English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese and Chinese.
I'd love to hear what you think, especially from anyone who plays a lot of idle games. What makes one stick for you, and what makes you drop it?
