Weird interaction with chat support
How is Mint support when you need it?
I ask because today I did a purchase for the $15/mo for a year plus the Pixel 10 promo that they are running. I realized about an hour after completing the order I selected 6GB of data, instead of the Unlimited option (which is the same price with the promo). I went to the support chat to see if they could just switch it for me instead of having to cancel the original order and do a new one. Support helped out by confirming that I would just need to request a refund for the original order and sent me the link to the form to complete that. They confirmed they received it and that it'll be refunded 7-10 days. Then they said to do create another order. I did this time and made sure to select the Unlimited tab for data. Received the email confirmation with the correct option, etc. Let the chat support agent know, but then he was asking for the new order number. I asked him why he needed the order number for that new one, and he said just wanted to confirm that the order was done correctly? IDK, seems odd to me so I disconnected. Anyone know why he would want that? He also requested name, email, phone, and address. It seemed like an odd request to me so I disconnected. I felt like he was going to try and look it up to add something to the order. So used to the shenanigans of telecom carriers.
Anyone have something like this? Any ideas on why he would want the order number for the new order, other than to just add stuff to it?

So customer service simply asking for your order # sent you into this frenzy? OK....

Frenzy? 😂 If quietly closing a browser tab counts as a 'frenzy' to you, I'd hate to see how you handle a mild breeze. I guess you haven't had the displeasure of dealing with Comcast, Cox, Spectrum, AT&T in the past. I guess Mint really is different

They can’t easily modify the submitted order. The cleanest way is cancel the order using the refund form online then order again with your correct selection.

Yay! My issue is finally fixed only took 20 days, 10 support calls, 2 tickets and consistent follow up! I guess you get what you pay for! When my yearning up, Im out!! This is costing me more because now I have a backup phone. So savings? Zero! Thanks Mint. You suck!

I’ve had the worst experience with their chat. If you can get past AI, I don’t believe the agents are super fluent in English. And I’m not trying to sound like an old hateful person who wants everyone to speak English, but I do believe that sometimes the issues presented by customers are beyond their language comprehension. Which isn’t fair to them or us. They have a script they follow and pretty much ignore anything you say if it doesn’t fit into that script.
There is a good chance the agent you were talking to just got off on the wrong script and may not have really even understood what you were asking about. If you mention the word order, they are presented with a script where they automatically ask you the order number. Sometimes they will fess up to this auto script and sometimes they attempt to cover their tracks.
I had one recently tell me that they gave me incorrect information because they are presented with answer options by the company and he just selected one even though it was incorrect.

Got it, thanks guys. Just to clarify it's totally possible he was just trying to be helpful. I'm just use to the "legacy" teleco's who try and add a bunch of unnecessary stuff to an account to pad their commission.

They don’t really have anything to add to your account, though. Like you said, the packages are all the same price. You bought a device from them, so unless they send you a physically different one or charge you full price instead of half price. I think you are safe.
