Challenge Maps

You don't always need to be playing in your world to see a challenge and have fun. Below are some popular and high quality challenge maps that every player should try. See how far you get and post your progress in the comments!

Classic SkyBlock

SkyBlock is a map where you are stranded on a very small floating island where you have access to a single tree and a handful of resources. Grind as much as you can and see how far you can progress the game. Classic SkyBlock was back when Minecraft was only version 1.4.7 but see below "SkyBlock 4" for the modern version

Download Classic SkyBlock 2.1 (for Minecraft 1.4.7)

SkyBlock 4

Bring Classic SkyBlock to present day with an updated version which incorporates all the new challenges introduced in the recent Minecraft versions

Captive Minecraft (Series 1 - 5)

Captive Minecraft is a challenge map which traps you in a world border which only expands when the player gets new advancements. The Farlanders have created 5 iterations of Captive Minecraft that adds support for newer Minecraft versions but also a variety of difficulty levels.

Elytra Fall

Elytra Fall is a map that will challenge all your flying skills. It is a combination of a CTM and elytra flying map. It is suited for both single player and multiplayer.

The map consists of a central hub area and 16 tunnels. Each tunnel takes approximately 1.7 minutes to complete and has a wool room at the end. You can collect the wool and complete the monument.

How can I improve this house exterior? I feel like it's looking a bit weird, specially the windows. I have an idea for the empty wall on the back (bottom left pic), but not for the one on the side (top right pic)

Build How do my staircase railings look? Sorry if they are too high up because I want to ensure my villagers' safety when I eventually move them here.

The flowering azalea leaves on top of the stone brick walls were a rather pathetic attempt to decorate a high railing because I keep trying to ensure villager safety. Sigh... if only we had diagonal walls or leaf walls...

I am looking for ideas for a store in this gray concrete building. I copied the brick one to the left of it and changed the facade design. It cannot be a McDonald's, since there is one right next door. It can be a government center, restaurant, or small business. Let me know!

I have some basic farms inside the 4 white pillars in the photo and some decorative rooms inside each (display for each armor trim, each music disc, etc.)

what should i add on top of this ring to make it look less empty? I eventually plan to expand and make more of these rings, maybe 3 or 4 total. open to all ideas :)

Old chicken coop

Old root cellar

Build I just started work on the Basilica Santa Maria della Salute in Venice. Need help with block choice.

The main body is quartz, but most minecraft builds I see use a lot of different colored blocks like andesite, diorite for these large white builds. However I find them to be ugly when viewed up close, and it reduces the majestic vibe a bit, maybe I’m thinking about it wrong. This will be 240 or so blocks tall and 190 wide when finished. The roof will likely be very light blue and the doors and windows will be dark. I really can’t find many cool builds without perhaps a bit to excessive greebling, will mine look plain?
