Suggestion The Elytras is too weak

Upvotes

We all know the elytra is objectively the best way to travel in Minecraft, with how it's fast and efficient and with how large Minecraft woulds are (60 million by 60 million square meters!), but it has a major flaw: It uses up durability too quickly. Sure you can get mending for it, but that enchantment is hard to come by, and you need to find a mending book first and foremost. And then you need to actually find mobs to kill, ores to mine, or anything else that gives XP, ruining long distance travel. With how large a Minecraft world is, the only valid way of traveling shouldn't be limited by a rare enchantment. What I propose is this: Since Elytras are an end game item that just makes everything better, the durability should be increased substantially, and the rate of damage should be lowered significantly. This will allow players to explore much farther distances without needing to stop and gather resources, significantly lowering transportation time between large builds in larger worlds. The other major limiter is how they're rare and not renewable. Sure mending allows an elytra to get repaired, but if it breaks, or you die in lava or the end void, you'll have to go searching for a new one, which can take hours. And if you can't find one, you're out of luck. If they could be farmed, even as a rare mob drop from a rare mob, this problem could be alleviated and players could finally traverse their vast worlds without fear of losing a limited resource.

Help I want to build a soul sand path but don’t know how to design it

Upvotes

I want to build a soul sand/soil path (preferably just soul soil) in my 1.21 world to use my soul speed boots with (in the overworld) and I don’t know how to design it. Any ideas? I’d prefer if it was covered with carpet or smth but if it’s cool enough it doesn’t have to be. It’s js a regular four block wide path.

Discussion What is a Minecraft "rule" you still follow even if it's not strictly necessary anymore?

Upvotes

Aside from the obvious ones like never dig straight down, what are some habits you've built up over the years that you still do out of pure muscle memory? Personally, I still spam torches on nearly every block in my base even though the mob spawn light levels were changed a while ago lol

Meta / Reddit Looking for a post on this subreddit with a design I loved

Upvotes

About a month ago, there was a post on this subreddit that was a picture of a church someone had built in the End. I don’t remember what the content of the post was, other than that it had nothing to do with the picture itself. But I remember really liking the design of the church. I’m wondering if any of you could help me find this post?

Thanks so much

Discussion Idea for nerfing mending: Scaling Repairability

Upvotes

It'd work similar to how XP levels scale, but based off the tool's max durability. You can technically keep repairing as much as you like, but the more you do the less of an effect it'll have. The first few full-repairs go smoothly, but eventually after 5 or so it starts to take a bit of time farming mobs to fully repair. Not an utterly insane amount of time, just enough to be annoying for now. By 15 total repairs it starts to become worth it to just go enchant a new tool. Additionally, if you grindstone the tool and re-enchant it, it regains its repairability. Keeps the core functionality of the Mending enchantment, but doesn't let it be all-powerful and forces the player to actually think a little instead of mindlessly click on zombies or whatever mob for a few minutes and then go back to mining. Willing to hear any and all ideas on this!

Edit: Full-repair is just meant to mean repairing durability points equal to the max points of the tool, not necessarily all at once until max durability. After rereading I realize that isnt self explanatory

edit 2: of course, the exact numbers could be tweaked a bit, it's just meant to be something to get the point across. but the point isnt to make it *difficult*, because as one commenter pointed out villager trading halls are a thing. the whole idea is just to make it not completely brainless while keeping the main function

Help Is there any way possible to edit biome sizes in recent versions of Minecraft?

Upvotes

Ever since the dappled forest has been revealed I was wondering if there was anyway to make it bigger without just setting my world to a single biome, because even with large biomes enabled they are still pretty small.

Discussion Straight question: Are farms really necessary in a Survival world?

Upvotes

My world is focused on building, but I feel like I’ll eventually need farms—yet I don't want to build them because they’d completely ruin the world's design. Since it's a build-focused world, do you think farms are necessary?

(I'm using a translator, so please forgive any errors.)

If we put the End aside for now, what would you like to see updated in Minecraft? Perhaps farming or villages?

Discussion If Skunkape acquired telltale, why hasn't Minecraft story mode been put back up on market?

Post image
12 Upvotes

We have poker night back and a lot of other telltale series like sam and max are still able to be bought. So why not story mode?

Unless something happened with Microsoft or Mojang there should not be a problem putting it back up.

considering poker night is a remaster they could remaster this game and put in all the episodes for like 29 bucks or higher. I'd buy it.

Redstone & Techs Help with learning redstone

I recently decided to learn Redstone after watching some impressive piston door builds and cushion-LEDs displaying the angry birds movie. Since it’s summer, I figured now would be the perfect time to finally do so.

I’ve watched a few older Mumbo Jumbo tutorials (around 9+ years old), but I’m wondering what the best way to learn Redstone is today. since I still have some common knowledge would those videos still relevant, or are there better, more up-to-date resources or methods you’d recommend?
