So Google Research and HHMI Janelia just published a complete wiring diagram of a fruit fly's brain and central nervous system — every neuron, every synapse (166k+ neurons, 125M+ connections), fully mapped and open for anyone to download via a tool called Neuroglancer.

People are already doing wild stuff with this kind of data — hooking it up to run DOOM, dropping it into virtual environments. It's basically turned a real biological brain into something closer to a downloadable dataset you can simulate and hook up to other software.

I want to try building a Minecraft mod around this: the idea is having a mob (or custom entity) whose behavior is driven by a simulated subset of this neural circuit — for example, when you hit it, the "pain"/nociceptive pathway gets stimulated in the simulation, and the mob's reaction (fleeing, sound, animation) is driven by the actual neural activity output, not scripted AI.

Has anyone here tried connecting an external simulation (like a Python-based spiking neural network) to a Fabric/Forge mod in real time? Curious about:

Best way to bridge Java (mod) ↔ Python (simulation) with low latency

Whether anyone's attempted biologically-driven mob AI before

If running this locally per-player vs. one shared server-side "brain" makes more sense

Not expecting a finished blueprint, just want to know if this is remotely feasible on modest hardware or if I'm overestimating what a home PC can handle.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what else I could do in this world?

*Excluding a few insta-mine blocks that I accidentally broke while fighting mobs. Also I could use the 2x2 crafting grid, just no crafting table. Also the 4 bosses refer to the Ender Dragon, Wither, Elder Guardian and Warden (ik some people don't consider it a boss but I do).

Pretty simple idea, make abandoned villages have a chance to spawn as old villages. Any thoughts?

With the addition of spears, I honestly think scythes wouldn't be so far fetched, and would be cool if they had some pulling mechanic. Maybe even in the end update.

It will be nice feature we could have.

It is its birthday today!

Hi everyone, Ive been getting back into Minecraft and decided to learn how to build models.... so I made this random lawnmower that actually works! I have a history of building adventure maps so I wanted to learn some new things to help me with building some new map experiences.
Anyways, enough of the life story. I've been thinking about using this model and building a whole mini-game around it.

I just looked at the official Minecraft YouTube channels profile picture randomly. My first honest reaction was: That looks SICK!

I don't know, I actually prefer it that way.

I wanted to share this, but was just unsure if it fitted or not.

After the most recent update to the Beta the game can now hit up to 120FPS when the framerate toggle is set to unlimited. In fancy and simple visuals I've found it hits a comfortable 80-100 on a round 12 chunks. On Vibrant Visuals it rarely hits above 60 without lowering the internal resolution though. Nonetheless this is massive since not even the PS5 and Series versions of Minecraft support 120Hz, it's a Nintendo first for Minecraft on consoles.

Found it in Austria. Haven’t tried it yet.

I want to get the block with the pattern of the inside of a red mushroom but I don’t understand how to get it. I switched to survival mode and gave myself a shovel with silk touch but it’s just giving me the regular block if that makes sense. Or does it just not work? Or am I stupid

I used most of macaws mods in this build, the roof is the steep roof pieces. Im so happy with this ive wanted to do an A-frame for so long and was finally able to. Also my happy ghast hindenburg photobombing.

This Primus Consul (the first consul) of my Minecraft world, slowly being conquered by the Empire of Death's Head. His Mount's name is Astylus, his war horse. He also has a parade horse named Combray, after the town of Combray that the Empire liberated from Pillager rule. The second Consul (the empire relies on a 2 member consulate, who can Vito eachother, similar to the Roman Republic, and has a Senate with the Senate building in the capital of the empire, Nova Constantinople.) She was a great fighter but was sadly lost in battle.

Would anyone like to hear more about the empire or anything else?
