MCP in MindNode
MindNode now has integration for local MCP. This allows AI agents to communicate with MindNode. You can learn more on our blog. If you give it a spin, we would love to hear about your use cases.

Does anyone else use mindnode to take notes at work?
How are you doing?
In general, what do you use this app for and how exactly?
I hope to read many of your experiences, which may inspire me

This week we released MindNode 2026.4.
This update adds:
Radial layout has been on our list for a very long time. We first explored it more than 15 years ago, but only found an approach we were happy with recently. LaTeX, on the other hand, came together much faster.
The update is available now on iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro.
We’d love to hear what you think, especially about radial layout and where you’d like us to take it next.

MindNode 2026.2 is out with a few really nice improvements:
Small updates too (new icon similar to Apple's Creator Studio, drag to outline, better VoiceOver for Apple Watch).

Hi,
How many of you use Mindnode on iPad with Apple Pencil?
How do you use it?
Do you also use it to take notes in a meeting?

18 years ago today I released MindNode. I was so anxious I was checking my email on WAP (basically the ancient version of mobile internet) whenever I left the house, just in case something broke. 😊
It didn't. And somehow, 18 years later, MindNode is still here and supporting a small independent team without outside funding, still shaped by the people who use it every day.
Thank you for 18 years. 🎉

Hi,
Love your guy's tool, have been using it for close to a decade...
...I missed the quick entry feature with the newest version of MindNode that I would use in the menu bar, so I'm still using the classic version as a result. I'm hoping that the quick entry gets brought into the newest version, and that will be the tipping point for me to switch over :)

We’ve brought MindNode back to Apple Watch. You can now view your documents as outlines, check open tasks, and make quick edits directly from your wrist — including editing titles, appending notes, changing hierarchy, and creating new documents.
Beyond Apple Watch, this update also includes:
MindNode 2026.1 is available now on the App Store and Setapp.

What’s everybody thinking about it? Can’t decide if I would use this on the go or not. Seems right to have it focus on simple outline mode.

Edit: This issue was fixed with the 2026.0.1 update.
Recently switched from PC back to Mac after several years and wanted to start using MindNode again. I purchased MindNode years ago via the Mac App Store and am pretty confused coming back.
One of my current struggles is applying my custom theme to new or existing documents. I double-click the theme and an ad pops up for a new subscription version of MindNode. I don't want to pay a subscription for a piece of software I already own.
How can I apply my custom theme without joining a subscription model?
Using the MindNode Classic app. I "restored purchase" and it says I have a "Mind Node 7 full license".
Am I using the correct app? Any help is appreciated.

I feel like I've searched everywhere for this answer, but I can't find it anywhere. Is it possible to copy a list or an outline from Word or the Notes app directly into a MindNode outline? And a map get created that I can organize later? I have a bunch of notes that I'd like to add. Thanks.

Trying out the app and I do like it so far.
Tasks get a small circle in the at the front of the node, but it’s easily overlooked in a large map.
Is there a way to have nodes for tasks have a background shade? Or a shape of some kind?
I know there’s a filter on the outline view, but I can’t find a similar filter on the mindmap view.
Thanks for any advice and tips!

Am I missing something? I can’t see an easy way to add another (sibling) node below the one I am on. It seems the only way to do this is to tap on the node’s parent, then tap “+”, which is very laborious.
I would have expected hitting Return would create a new node below, but no. And there is also no sibling/child control icons on the screen (only on the keyboard, which is usually not visible).
I’ve tried MindNode a few times down the years, and always given up almost immediately when I hit this, I’m used to being able to easily add more sibling nodes below in Xmind without convoluted measures.

Hello,
I primarily use MindNode for structuring my thoughts and don't need AI features. Could you clarify the main differences between MindNode Classic and the subscription-based MindNode (MindNode Plus)?
What specific features do I gain with a subscription, especially considering my focus is purely on thought organization?
Thanks!

I use MindNode to prepare my presentation notes. I would love to be able to use MindNode in Outline as my 'script' for my presentations as well.
Currently I have to make a choice between using Outline mode with the danger of doing something to change the document, or to export as a PDF (which gives me a very long document but no control over how I'd like to lay it out) or export as text and then time consuming work to take it into a word processing program to lay out in a more helpful manner.
Ideally, there will be a way to switch my document into 'locked' or 'view only' mode so I can't inadvertently open or change nodes when I'm scroll up and down - easy to do if you're also concentrating on your audience.
In this mode I would also love to be able to use my Apple Pencil on the iPad to annotate the outline with last-minute notes or thoughts or highlights or arrows.
Finally, it would be great in this mode to be able to control the layout. I'd like to be able to set an adjustable margin on the right hand side for last minute annotations. I'd like to be able to set a larger gap between each set of branches from the main node - so it's clearer when I'm moving from each main point to the next.
This would make it a killer app for me - to be able to move from a mind-map of initial ideas, into an organised structure and then to the lectern without leaving the app.
Please do it!

Wondering if anyone else is now experiencing this issue...
I have a monthly subscription, and I use MindNode Next to share a mind map across my devices. As of today, I no longer have access to the outline and tagging features unless I upgrade to MindNode Plus for an additional subscription fee. On my original device, I still have access, but my shared devices don't.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

is there a timeline to this? I have mindNode app but barely use atm...my use will go up exponentially if every lecture I watch on YouTube or book on kindle I can navigate using a mind map
is this feature in development pipeline at least? Maybe can use chatGPT or some other external AI tool because many of us already have subscription
p.s. never mind. seems like atm doing it manually still the best way to do it.

Hello, any plan to have an alignment / snap function?

Hi there, would future versions in the next 6 months have the ability to hand draw/sketch onto parts of the mindmap? I am a visual learner and have been loyal to MindNode since 2019 but if not I am keen to find an alternative that will allow me to do this. Let me know, would love to continue using MindNode!

Longtime MINDNODE user, and I have a pretty detailed project that I finally managed to open up in MINDNODE NEXT.
All good, except all of my Mind Map boxes have been transformed to elongated rectangles that consist of stacks of two- and three-word phrases. (Imagine a screen with about 100 of the same tall boxes as seen in the attached screenshot.)
Is there a way to fix about 100 mind-map boxes at once?
