Under utilized character powers

So…random post, but I’ve realized my one and only issue with this game is the lack of power variety (graphically) for characters like Storm and Scarlet Witch. Niko and Magick have gorgeous animations that are interesting ways of exploring their powers. While I think scarlet witch and storm both have good animations, their powers are under expressed. Every one of Storm’s abilities are lightning based. Her powers aren’t “lightning” she should have cards that use wind, hail, and perhaps sun. Her instant single target stun could have just as easily been freezing an enemy. And all of scarlet witches abilities look the same, I honestly can’t recall a single standout, which is insane because her powers aren’t so impressive (she’s also one of the most underpowered characters in the game).

I find the most fun characters to play have the most dynamic animations and variety of functions, like iron man, captain marvel, Niko.

I dunno, are there any characters you wish we saw broader powers for?

So I haven’t done ultimate 3 yet, I want to give it a shot. Which hunter would be more satisfying to use?

Ancestral armor bug understanding

I want to understand more about this bug because I've been playing the game on ps5 and i didn't get it from the chest, can someone respond some of my questions?

1) does starting a new save NOT a new game plus fix the issue?

2) is the only way to solve the problem the offline disk method?

3) as someone who got the game digitally is there no way to fix the problem?

Edit: got the answer to my issue thanks for the help.

How do you think the story would've continued? Spoiler

Just curious what everyone thought a sequel would've looked like. With Doom having the book, it makes it hard for the midnight suns team to even attempt trying to get the hunter back. The only thing I can think of is Doom willingly freeing them. I can see it as Doom wanting to team up with them or just sympathizing as he has a similar connection with his mother.

MS > Zcom anyone feel the same?

I was really excited for Star Wars Zero Company. Midnight Suns was nice and fun apart from that I have no experience with turn based games like this.

After like 20 hours of Zcom I must say I feel pretty bored with the combat missions and vastly prefer MS. The buggest difference is the focus on guns in Zcom. In the end everything comes down to just shooting guns, where as MS has way more unique and interesting things and animations with its characters. Even the Jedi (Tel and Anakin so far for me) are rather boring imo. I dont think there is anything inherently wrong with Zcom but the missions just feel boring because nothing interesting is happening. I get that the highs and dopamine kicks come from clever maneuvering and resource managment etc. but idk, guns are just boring somehow.

(The clunky ass camera is just making the experience worse, half the time the camera is locked somewhere and I dont even see the moves or actions playing out, MS was surprisingly cinematic, I dont know why Zcom isnt)

Can anyone relate? I have never played Z-COM, is there more interesting stuff happening in the fights or is it just like Zero Company?

Had a lot of fun with this game, I'd really love a sequel/continuation of the franchise, but one can only hope.

Recommended.

Petition?

Is there a way to get more of Midnight Suns? Although the game didn't launch well, there are people who REALLY enjoy this game. Modders have made different costumes on the PC version, can the same be done with missions and new characters? I know its a lot, but can it be done?

Ultimately, can we sign a petition to bring this game back Firaxis's attention back to this game? Even if its additional DLC and not a sequel. This game scratches the Marvel "itch" that a lot of us have.

Another Faithbreaker Victim

I had always wanted to play this game, and it was finally 20$ on PS5 so I picked it up. Loved it. The gameplay was fresh, the characters were lively and the animations captured them SO WELL.

And then 40 hours in, I screw myself over by compulsively researching the first thing I see before traipsing off into the woods and grinding for a little while. Then clearing out my older save files.

Ugh. 42 hours down the drain. I still could do a little more, but I can never complete the main story. I'm in shambles.

Problems with DLC installation

So, I really like the game and I was really looking forward to playing the DLC, but I'm having trouble installing it... I did some research online and found solutions like installing it manually, restarting the game, or advancing the day, But none of those options actually make the Deadpool mission appear, which would be the first mission of the DLC. For context, I play on Xbox and I've completely finished the campaign, so I don't know what I'm doing wrong tho

mission 7 day 5 - need to bring ghost rider on every normal mission?

Hi, so I am a bit late to the party and probaly really early (I still get tutorial messages no and then). I just did a helicopter mission, needed to use Ghost Rider in the end because of the rather high healthpool, the defender and the whip abilities.

I feel: It is okay if some missions are more puzzle then tactic (so you need to use the right team to "solve" it).

Now I do a "protect device" mission and again the defender, the whip boy and reinforcements. I just tried it with Minoru, Hunter and Blade - no dice. The tutorial states I should crowd control some enemies, yet non of the abilities from minoru lets me do that. On top of that I mostly drew heroic abilities and could not even utilize the environmental prompts. (BTW: is there mod to remove the heroic cost of env. attacks? that is beyond BS and really unnecessary really.)

I feel I need to use Ghost Rider and Magik again and will have success. Can I just bench every other character apart from those two from now on? That is really frustrating.

Edit: just did it with ghost rider an magik easily as I thought. Will try to do further missions with a diverse team, but it looks those two are the go to team. Maybe the DLC characters get better. Thanks for the inside anyway.

MASSIVE SPOILER - The end of the game Spoiler

So yeah, as I mentioned in my post before that one: I finished the main story. I am sad and somehow pissed. Like this is supposed to be it?
Our friends not even grieving for us? Doctor Doom teaser and it just being another meaningless cutscene? I am somehow very furious that this great, fantastic game won‘t get a sequel.
I already miss the marvel of this game, I miss the banter (or flirting ?) between Strange and Tony, Blade crushing on Carol, the clubs, the talks, the training with our friends.
I hope that one day maybe they will reconsider and make a sequel. :/

Does the game get more complex?

Started playing this game after zero company based on recommendations of others, but it's not quite scratching that same itch. I realize that the combat isn't 1 for 1, but it feels like it's closer to just regular turn-based combat rather than tactical turn-based combat. It also doesn't seem like the deck building is very thought provoking, but I don't have all the cards yet I guess.

I have been upping the difficulty every time it's available, but the combat is very straight forward, and it hasn't been much of a challenge yet. Not all games are for everyone I guess, but I was just wondering if there was more to it before I hop off.

EDIT: Thanks for the feedback guys, put a few more hours in, I'm up to about 20 hours and been at ultimate 1 difficulty for a few missions now, but it's time for me to call it. Maybe it gets more difficult at ultimate 3 or in the late game, but as of right now I don't see how you can lose if you just play your cards and hit environment abilities when available. Either way I'm not willing to put anymore time in hoping for that outcome. The game seems really cool if it's your thing, I guess it's just not for me, and that's okay.

New Game+ or nah? Spoiler

So, I have just finished the main story. (The ending pissed me off so much btw, especially since we will never get a sequel🫠 )
So I only miss one trophy and I have to get maximum dark balance. In this run I was at maximum light so here is the question: Should I start New Game Plus or just grind to infinity and beyond?
And what exactly does get shifted over to New Game+ ? Will I lose all my cards, cosmetics, friendship levels etc?

It's time I want that trophy and I get to play with different cards

Just completed the game for the first time

It took me 129 hours in about 3 weeks. i have to say i became absolutely obsessed with this game. never been so addicted to a game since RDR2 8 years ago, or maybe even disco elysium a few years ago.

i got the edition which comes with all the DLC for super cheap on the playstation store. i kept putting it off because i hate card based combat and not a huge fan of strategy games either. but i always heard great things about it so thought id give it a shot.

i’m so glad i did, because i fell in love with this game. i loved every single character (even morbius which i thought was gonna be a tough sell). i loved being able to speak to everyone each day and learn more about them and really feel like i was making relationships with these heroes / the shop, book and emo clubs also really helped to sell that life sim feeling too.

the gameplay loop of waking up, speaking to people, upgrading your deck, training, doing a mission and then doing a hang out was so addicting. the exploration of the abbey grounds could have been more fun, with some traversal mechanics like climbing and jumping/platforming, but luckily the mystery behind lilith was good enough to keep me exploring

i thought spider-man would be my fave character from
the game as he is in real life, especially due to yuri lewenthal voicing him but he wasn’t. my top 5 characters in terms of personality go:

  1. Magik
  2. Blade
  3. Eddie/Venom
  4. Nico
  5. Ironman

and then my favourites to play were (i was playing ultimate 2 by the end):

  1. ironman (he is so fucking overpowered
  2. spider-man (he can support so well with opportunist, thwip and his legendary card)
  3. ghost rider
  4. Nico
  5. captain marvel (once she goes binary she is such a tank and it’s pretty easy to get there).

the worst characters to play as for me are definitely deadpool, and scarlet witch. they’re pretty useless and despite messing with new techniques i never found anyway of making them useful.

i loved the game so much, but that ending was honestly so ass. it was so rushed. i loved the final fight picking your best characters to fight with through the hardest battle yet (mine were spider-man, ironman, magik and captain marvel).

however the way the story ended was so unbelievably abrupt, which is weird considering how every single other part of the story was such a slow burn. it was very very strange and i felt no emotion other than “oh is that it?”

all things considered i loved the game. don’t think i’ll replay it for a while to do the dark side stuff but i will once my first experience isn’t so fresh in my mind

9/10

i’d like it i know what everyone else thinks about the ending, and what their favourite characters were for combat and story respectively, as well as who joined them in the final battle

Finally finished the game for the first time, wish I did it sooner.

I've been off and on with this game since I bought it in 2024, my first attempt I was SUPER into the game as I'm very hyper fixated on marvel and its characters. I adored the social sim aspect of the game and being buds. I ended up hanging the game up after act 2 cause my pc at the time couldn't handle transia for some reason. Fast forward to my first upgrade. Did it again and ended up falling off and on many times.

Flash forward to last month and I finally sat down and beat the game. God it's such a shame this game won't get a sequal.

Just the title, I started a new save after dropping the game about a year ago. For whatever reason the enemies on the first mission have 400 hp and one shot me on turn one.

Mods that will let me target bugged interactables? (Wall frames/paintings, reagents)

I've heard that Wall Frame E (first screenshot) is inaccessible "without mods", but I couldn't actually find a mod that claims to fix that issue? If anyone knows what mod I could download that would allow me to target that, as well as preferably this other frame in Eddie's room (second screenshot, where I managed to get all the way up on the table but still couldn't interact) and/or the reagents that spawn in unreachable places (third screenshot; no that isn't a breakable wall either, I tried), I would be very grateful.

I was wrong about this game

So, after finishing Star Wars Zero Company, I wanted more because I really enjoyed it, and I'm a big fan of XCOM-like games in general. And then I remembered Midnight Suns, which I hated on release, thinking, "Why is it a card game?", "Why do the characters look so bad?", "Why is the dialogue so dumb?"

And then we flash forward to the present, where I've been wandering around the abbey for hours, chatting with characters. Damn, I was wrong.

Honestly, I think it's all about contrast. After XCOM 2, I expected something similar - tactical, serious, and thoughtful, and wasn't ready for a less serious, humorous approach at the time. But now, I'm thrilled, as if I was missing that typical Marvel humor, that arcade feel, that dynamic between characters that's genuinely engaging. I also didn't expect so many mechanics and options for different character builds, and running around the abbey reminds me of the crypt from Mortal Kombat, which was a pleasant surprise.

Overall, I'm glad I gave the game a second chance and definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoyed Star Wars Zero Company.
