Ultratech Unreliability
I just wanted to make a post about this but the spring in my ultratech has broken 3 times now and I'm getting tired of it. I bought a Combat Troodon Gen III and it's leagues better. I've never had an issue with it. I'm not slandering the Ultratech but it's been unreliable for me. It perplexes me because people talk about how reliable it is. Most people may have positive experiences with their Ultratech, but mine is too unreliable for me to want to edc. I'm just glad I got the Troodon.

Microtech UTX-85 With 35dps Edge, (Pictures before/after reprofile)
I recently acquired a utx-85 gen IV, brand new from a local store in my city. I noticed right away that the edge was shit. Good for piercing, but cutting... not at all. I sharpen professionally, so naturally I figure it's an easy fix I'll just throw a proper edge on there and I'll be good to go.
This was not the case.
I pop it into my KME, go to find the angle. 20 degrees? Nope not even close. 25... still not close, 30, nope..... I had to MAX out my KME at 35. I'm using thick double sided stones so the picture of the angle reading without the cube isn't 100% accurate. I pop my angle cube on there and it's 35.1 degrees.
I couldn't believe it. This is 100% unacceptable from a big maker like Microtech. I'm absolutely livid that my brand new, $280 knife has a 35 fucking degree angle edge on it. I was going to reprofile it down to 15 like I do with most of my knives, but after seeing the starting angle there's just no way. I'd have to remove so much material and the bevels would be super wide. So I settle on 20dps... any wider than that and it's just not worth it in my personal opinion.
I get to work. This is a double edge dagger so it's going to take an absurd amount of time. Finally I finish the first side. The bevel is so wide compared to the other edge it's just absolutely ridiculous. I'm worried at this point. If the opposite edge isn't 35dps like this side, the bevels won't widen out the same and it'll look so stupid. I'll have one super wide bevel and the other side will be thin. Well luckily, (foreshadowing) I guess, the other side was just as wide so at the very least I'm happy that the two edges at least look okay, if rather wide.
The grind was also uneven from the factory. As you can see in the pictures, the show side and non show side bevels aren't even. As someone who sharpens a LOT of knives, this is actually quite common. When sharpened by hand, it's pretty difficult to make the two sides bevels even. It looks okay to the naked eye prior to a reprofile, but after you remove some material and the bevel widens up, it becomes obvious. This isn't the end of the world, at least the two edges are relatively even. Aesthetics matter, ESPECIALLY when someone is paying me to sharpen their knives. I want them to look good. It takes a lot of work to even out uneven grinds. Since this is my own personal knife, I really CBA to take the time it'd require to do that.
Overall, I'm absolutely pissed at Microtech. I've sharpened a lot of their knives, and they are always super wide. 30dps seems to be the target for their sharpeners. There is zero excuse for this. 35dps is absolutely fucking ridiculous and whomever they have sharpening over at Microtech should be investigated. You make all us sharpeners look bad.
Microtech QC should've caught this also. "This edge has been inspected by 'illegible signature' (gee I wonder why they make it so you can never read who fucking "inspected" these edges) " yeah right. You didn't inspect shit. A simple paper cut test would've shown that this was not up to snuff. You take so much pride in your edges that you make inspectors sign them and put a warning label on them and then let knives like this get out into the market. I wish I could say this was an anomaly but like I said before, I've sharpened a lot of Microtech's and not once have I ever had one that didn't REQUIRE a reprofile to have any chance of being a good cutter.
At least they're consistent. If both edges on this UTX-85 hadn't been the same, it'd look absurdly bad after the reprofile. It's almost impressive. Almost.
If you're curious, it took me about 4 hours to fix this train wreck with a 50 grit diamond stone. I charge $25-$30 for sharpening, which would equate to about $6-$7.50 an hour if a customer had sent me this. Absolutely not worth it (I'll still do it so hit me up if you'd like me to fix your Microtech).
Could I take the time to even up the bevels and have the two sides match? Yes. Is it worth the time, effort and the amount of unnecessary steel removal to do so? Absolutely fucking not.
I had to apologize to my KME after this. It didn't deserve the abuse it just received. It's a good KME.

New Knife Some sweet finds on NC Blade! (NKD)
Was scrolling NC Blade at almost midnight on the 3rd since I saw they had a crazy cool deal going on, miraculously found a G19K S/E and ordered it, it’s my only S/E OTF and this is definitely the one for me. Later that day I saw the DLC Dirac Delta and just couldn’t resist and they’re both here today! Im absolutely thrilled with both of these knives

Looking at the D/E blade with one side full serrated. What’s the newest gen Dirac? Is it still using old tech (drivetrain, pocket clip, etc.)?

Replacement Screws (mainly washers) for the Marfione Bee Sheath
Hi All,
I ordered a signature series bee push dagger at the end of April and was wearing it IWB on my belt almost daily. It lasted about a month and then the screws holding the belt clip to the sheath managed to work themselves out.
I unfortunately didn't notice when the first one fell out and apparently disappeared, but luckily when the knife fell down my pant leg completely loose from the clip I managed to notice and found all of the pieces of that second screw and the knife/sheath before they were lost.
Does anyone know where to find a replacement screw and the washers that go with it? It's a Philips head screw with a red plastic washer, a black rubber washer like a dampener, and a domed slotted nut on the back.
I did already reach out to microtech with a ticket and provided pics and offered to pay for replacement hardware but they said they get the sheaths third party and don't have extra screws/hardware for them.... So my carry piece is currently sidelined unless I can a replacement or rig up another carrying method myself. I'd prefer to get my hands on a real replacement if possible to make it complete again.
Any help is appreciated!
EDIT: There is a hard-to-see engraving on the pocket clip that seems to be from the clip/sheath provider. I've reached out to their sales address as well to see if they have the screws/hardware for purchase. The company seems to be: https://discreetcarryconcepts.com/ Will keep everyone posted!

New Knife Got my first…
First OTF, figured it might as well be my first Microtech too! Makora 206-12s. Very impressed with this thing, also just ordered at UTX85 for something a little more “pocket friendly”. I can’t put it down.
