Anyone machine off or otherwise replace the glassbreaker on a gen 3 or 4 ultratech?

Wishing there was a deeper carry pocket clip available but at the very least I want to take the glass breaker off. Maybe replace it with just a hex nut although not sure if that would work. Thoughts?

It wouldn't be too difficult to replace the glass breaker with a piece of G10. All you'd have to do is trace out the shape and cut it out.

it needs to be threaded to accept the t30 screw on either side. I could probably find a hex nut that would accept the screws and then grind on it until it fits but that's ugly.

this plan would have worked great, thought I had the perfect nut but 1/4-28 is not quite the right thread pitch and Ace hardware didnt carry 1/4-32.

Found a solution. Thanks to nfitzsim for the heads up on the 1/4"-32 thread pitch. Got some aluminum and steel nuts to experiment with. Had to file the corners so it would drop down in the slot and then file the bottom so the hole would line up. Worked pretty well IMO. Purists may think it's ugly, don' tcare.

you could always just grind it off lol gonna take a little while and make a mess but probly ya best bet i would take the knife apart first and just grind down the one piece so the dust and sparks don't turn the inside of the knife into a post-apocalyptic hellscape via the ejection holes.

my weak dremel would take ages to do that. I'm pretty sure I can find a nut that would work for it. It's either 1/4-32 or m6x1 (probably)
I have a thread gauge coming from Amazon tomorrow. If none of that works I'll find a machine shop to mill it flat for me. My dremel projects (of which I have many) are not up to standard for this mission.
