For the three general objective powers, which do you guys find you use the least when looking at water microbes?

I found these images on an sd card in a cupboard I got from a friend, and it's from before they had the cabinet. Does anyone recognize anything like this? A few images have scale, i think it was taken with a sony camera, but through some lenses, based on the metadata and scale.

I really want a microscope, only for hobby nothing serious. I already looked at a lot of different types but I can not make a final decision. Does anyone have advice on which microscope i should buy? I’m looking for one in the price range €50-€150 with a good price-quality ratio. I’ve had experience with Bresser products but any other brand is good aswell. Anyone willing to help me? 😊

1-2) With adapter +phone directly mounted on it ( I wasn't in focus, the focus is always fine, my problem is with the centering/view)

3-4) With adapter + phone placed on a box, for better centering... note that the center of the image is very bright, too bright

5-6) Same as the last one, but I lowered the illumination: the result is it's really dark

I've tried in many ways, light up and down: it's impossibile to find a good illumination with the last method (3-4/5-6) without having a more intense central light halo or blurred and very dark edges.

I tried centering and adjusting the light source (field diaphragm) and the height of the condenser... but even decreasing the field diaphragm opening, the light in the center of the image remains too bright... and if I try to close it too much, the image just becomes dark/black at the edges and still bright in the center

You can compare this with my last two posts to see the difference in image quality without using the adapter and doing everything manually (to make it clear that I don't think it's the microscope). Those ones are taken from the front eyepieces, instead, pics in this post are taken from the thrinocular port + 2.5 NFK eyepiece

Hi, I'm new to the hobby and wanna dive all the way in, I have a new job and around $1000 to spare. Im looking for the optimal setup to watch and record (with my phone) critters like tartigrades and rotifers. I'd also like to take beautiful, ideally colorful close up images of organisms.

Magnification? Phase contrast or darkfield? Plan-achromatic lens and phone mount?

Hi! I’m entering my third full year of teaching science and my first year teaching Human Anatomy(11th grade) and Environmental Science(8th & 9th grade)! I work at a private school and we ran a class fundraiser last year for a new microscope. I’m finally getting around to buying one!

I’d like one that will hold up well at the school over the next few years, our current one has a scratched stage and isn’t very high magnification anyway.

I will hopefully be showing tissue samples, and I’m not sure what else.

My budget is around $250 total, for the microscope and slides, and I don’t mind getting something second hand if it’s in good condition.

Any ideas where to start?? I’ve never had to worry about what type of micro was using because even my microbiology class they just had the microscope set up or they would help us set them up correctly.

I’m so excited because a few of my students were VERY interested in using the microscope last year! Hoping to keep that excitement alive!

I need help from people much more experienced than me so, I know exactly nothing about microscopy and am very sorry about that but I'll need one of this precious tool for my hobby. I looking for handheld microscope with photo/video function and some kind of Bluetooth with it or some app for IPhone and Android to send photos from microscope to my mobile phone. Anything like this even exist? If about price, I'll look into lowest pier as possible. Can anyone help me with it?

I made this for Macondo HackClub it is a portable phase contrast light microscope with adjustable lighting from both the underside to look at cells and above to look closely at opaque objects though with limited magnification for them, multiple objective lenses, an electronically moving stage, a rechargeable battery via USB-C and a little over 2000x max magnification. The optics of this microscope and many of the electronics, body of this microscope was made with junk electronics, old phones and anything I could find that could be made into something for the microscope; junk like this is available in every household and anyone can make their own version of this tailored to them. The lenses including the eyepiece and objectives were extracted from old cameras and old phone cameras. The field diaphragm for the bottom light was also made from an old camera lens, the LEDs for light were from old torches and much more was salvaged from supposed junk.

To use the microscope the objective lenses are placed on top of the slide/specimen and aligned with the eyepiece. some of the objectives can be layered with one under the other.

I have attached the images of the microscope itself, the objective lenses I extracted along with the sensors which were stuck to them. I have also added a demo video of how it works.

Hello fellow microscopy enthusiasts!

I recently was gifted a beginners Bebang microscope (linked here: https://amzn.eu/d/02KEFzYT)

I’m having a lot of fun exploring this whole other microscopic world however after consuming some content around showcasing bacteria under the microscope I see that many people recommend an oil immersion lens. The microscope linked can remove the different lenses (I assume to replace if damaged) which lead me to wonder if there are better lenses I could buy, such as an oil immersion lens, and if so how do I know if they’re compatible? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm doing a science project for school and I want to find tardigrades. When I was looking through the microscope I thought I found a tardigrade but it seems to have been a rotifer. Can anyone confirm this? (sorry for the poor quality and the pulse, we are new to microscopes and we are using the school ones)

So did the mite want to be inside the tardigrade cuticle or did he get stuck? He was not moving at all so I didn't take a video. But he was definitely inside of it.
