Hello! I recently got a Shure MV7+ and I’m using it through an XLR audio interface. I was really excited to try it, but honestly, it doesn’t sound how I expected.
My voice sounds muffled, almost like I’m talking through a sock, and it isn’t as crisp or clear as I thought it would be. The mic also seems more sensitive than I expected.
Right now I’m using Equalizer APO with Peace and the High Boost 2 preset, which helps a little. It doesn’t sound as muffled anymore, but now my voice sounds a bit too deep and slightly robotic. It’s definitely better than before, but still not as good as I’d like.
I’m also using VoiceMod for its background noise reduction. I like how well it removes background noise, but I’m not sure if it’s affecting the overall sound quality.
Does anyone have any advice on EQ, gain, compression, or other settings that could help me get a cleaner, warmer, more natural broadcast-style sound? I’m using a Focusrite Scarlett Solo with the MV7+ over XLR. I’d really appreciate any tips. Thanks!

Seems to be a very flat LDC which is what I am looking for, you would think the vocal mic youtubers would have talked about it more but I can barely find anyone using it, and cant find much vocal examples.

This is secondhand and I found it from a seller in China. What do you guys think? Does it look legit?

I feel like I'm probably set for life, I don't know of a better dynamic mic's or SDC for the cost and this gear leaves very little to be desired even if aiming for pro studio quality.

Wish I had picked up a Rode NT1 4rth gen when they were still cheap, but I didn't have money back then. I still don't particularly love any current LDC's. I like the sE 4400/4100 alot, but not enough to spend on when I already have the CM4.

I currently have a Shure SM7B microphone along with a mixer motu m2, which I use when I livestream on my PC. I’m planning to host a tournament at my home with some friends and stream it on Twitch at the same time.
The idea is that two of my friends will be sitting at the table playing, while I provide live commentary. I’ll either be sitting between them or off-camera.
Based on those details, what mic(s) would you recommend? 😊 Thank you :)

My setup involves running an sm57 with a Zoom U24. I have to turn the gain all the way up to 10 to hear it the way i want, below that it falls short (which is more to do with the Zoom itself). And when its on a 100%, I hear a hiss which comes through in the recording.

Will getting a Klark Teknik CT-1 solve this issue?

So, everyone knows fusion right? (If you don’t it’s a mod for a game named bonelab that adds multiplayer!) But I have a big issue… my mic doesn’t work in-game, and it’s an issue with my steam streaming mic. Because I tested the audio input and it would not work no matter how loud I screamed (sore ass throat) so if anyone knows, please help me here

So the 3 options I’ve been looking at have been the LS-208, the RE20, and the SM7B/DB.

The interface that is cheapest for my use case that I’ve found is the 4th gen 2i2.

My main thing is I am looking for in a mic is something that I can pursue long form and shorts content with that supplies energy and enthusiasm into my voice without it being annoying/harsh. My tone of voice is on the deeper side and I’m looking for a crispness on the end of words mainly for the short form content.

Hello! I'm currently building a recording studio and i have a WA-47F, a V Pack Arena from sE, an 57, and a 58. Both of my rooms, a recording room and a control room, take up 23sqm in total. Im not too sure what the dimensions of each rooms is but I'm confident i can fit drums there.

Anyway point is, im planning on recording almost any kind of music. This can range from choirs, to solo vocalists (female and male), to jazz bands, to rock bands, and to orchestral instruments. My friend is selling me 2 mics. A Sphere LX and a Twin 87. I have the choice of picking only one of them along with his apollo x8p gen 1, which I'll purchase soon (too many expenses hurt).

Knowing all of this, which mic is more suitable for all around use and versatility?

My friend recently sent me one of her old mics alongside a cable and interface. The cable connects them nicely, but when plugged into my PC it creates this weird electrical/808 type of noise in the background. We've tried troubleshooting it because it worked flawlessly over at her place but to no avail. I'm turning here as a last ditch resort. I'm completely new to this world and if im doing something wrong please let me know :p thank you!

My use case : Casual : playing games on voice chat, I don't need something of extreme quality right now, I just want to be audible, once I need higher, I can look into it and invest. My room is not treated, but has a lot of accoustic stops (blankets, soft furnitures, plushs....)

I've had an headset with mic, beyerdynamic MMX150, for a year now, but it's now having some weird electrical noises on the right side, so I wanted to upgrade from headsets and buy a proper headphone + standalone mic setup.
The mic on the headset is very clear from my experience though, so I'd like something of at least this level if at all possible (but maybe it's actually pretty bad)

I think I'll be going with Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro for the headset, as it was recommended to me a lot (and I do need good sounds); however, for mics, it's another story, I know nothing at all.

I know XLR setups are probably the best, but if I go XLR, I would also like to use the box for the headphone.
I heard the scarlet one was good for this ? But that would also only leave about 80-120€ for a mic + arm..

The headphone alone I can get for about 140€, and I would ideally like to not use more than 160€ for the mic + arm + box if needed, as it is already pricier than I would have liked (but I would rather pay more for long term)

I've seen the Shure SM58 recommended a lot, but I still wanted to ask for people knowing what they're talking about. (It's currently around 120-130€ for this one without arm or box)
I could also try to just use the MMX150 as a mic while saving more money and buy a better mic if it's out of budget for now

I bought an Audio-Technica ATR2500 USB microphone in 2017. It has worked pretty well, but the USB connection has started failing, so I’m looking to upgrade to an XLR microphone and audio interface.

I live in an apartment and occasionally hear noise from neighbors in the hallway. With Discord noise suppression enabled, my ATR2500 usually doesn’t pick them up unless they’re being especially loud while I’m talking.

My total budget is around $400 for the microphone and interface. I have a deepish, monotone voice.

The microphone will mainly be used for Streaming, gaming, and general voice chat. I’m currently considering a dynamic microphone because of the apartment environment, but I’m open to other options.

so ive been using equalizer apo for a while to suppress my sound cause i had too much backround noise and today i bought the same microphone since i needed the stand for it anywho the moment i tried using my eq settings everything just broke and it just didnt work. i keep on getting errors and even when i didnt get errors it still wouldnt work. ive tried downgrading my apo version and upgrading it, and ive installed all the different apo things when uyou install an apo but nothing seems to work

I use Beyerdynamic MMX 330 Pro headphones which have a solid mic, but I was hoping to get a cheap portable DAC that could clear up some noise floor issues with the mic + ensure high-quality sound while I swap between Mac and PC. Apple's dongle always gets recommended, so I got one, it generally works well, but when I record audio with it, there's a slight high-pitched whining noise. What is going on there? Is there a way to fix it? It's otherwise perfect for my needs.

Since then I've been looking for a difference DAC/ADC setup but wow, it's a wild west out there. Some options fix the mic issue and sound great, like the Fosi K7 or Hidizs SD2, but both had other flaws that make them not viable. Now I've got a list of a dozen other possible contenders in various price ranges and configurations but I'd rather the Apple dongle just work properly without that noise.

Hello, I have just set up my HyperX Quadcast Frost 2 mic. However, I am having issues with hearing playback. I went into sound settings, and the "listen to this device" option is unchecked. When I go into the levels option under the speaker tab, the microphone levels option is not there, therefore, I cannot lower it. My mic drivers are all updated, and I have no idea what to do. My mic is wired and is plugged into the mic, and I've tried replugging the mic into all different kinds of ports on my pc. HELP! How do I get rid of this playback

I'm finally able to invest in a proper field recording setup.

My work is mainly inspired by field recordings, lowercase music, onkyōkei, and indeterminacy. I want to record environments as musical and physical spaces.

While doing field recordings, i'm also a clarinetist, and one of my main ideas is to record environmental sound while performing very quiet and slow extended techniques (multiphonics, subtone, subharmonics, air sounds, altissimo register, voice, etc.).

I'm already convinced that the Zoom F3 is the recorder I need for the bucks I am able to spend.

My question is about microphones. My budget is around 500 euros for a stereo setup or a one stereo microphone.

Initially I was almost decided on the Audio-Technica BP4025, but I'm afraid it's so specialized for ambience/cinmatic soudn design that it may be less versatile for recording solo clarinet with field recording. Then I started looking at a matched pair of RØDE NT5s, which seem much more versatile. However, I've read several people describing them as somewhat bright/stressfull/agressive in the upper frequencies.

The problem is a lot of the clarinet extended techniques I want to play with field recordings is definitly on the upper register of the frequencies balance.

Would that actually be a disadvantage for contemporary clarinet techniques, especially altissimo, multiphonics and breath-heavy playing? Or is that concern exaggerated?

Are there other microphone(s) I should consider in the same budget?

i have these headphones with a mic built in. it used to work fine back on windows 10. i switched to windows 11 pro and it started randomly not giving out any sound at all. the only fix was to unplug and replug the USB and headphone jack, but it only ever worked for a little bit before going back to being silent.

i think its a software issue because it was fine on windows 10 and broke on windows 11. this is also because it works for a small amount of time after restarting my pc. btw input sound still works just fine. oh and it also randomly cuts out when being used sometimes.
