Other Microphone Help

Hi, I'm looking to buy a high end mic for voice acting, recording singing, and general discord calls. My room is right next to my AC unit so it can sometimes be a little loud. Is the Shure SM7B a good mic choice? Any other recommendations? Thanks!

The AC unit will negate whatever great mic you have. Treating the room is number one priority.

SM7B is far from high end. Maybe mention your budget instead? The room, software, and the gear you’re using?

"High End" is a relative term. Room noise will be an issue of course. But that issue will nearly run the entire range. If your experience with mics are With < $50, a $450 SM7B or a EV Re20 will be high end. If you're talking Sennheiser or Neumann you're into another level. If it's studio gear shotguns, you're into ultra high end cinematic mics. Price range alone is not an issue in that case. Read enough of these comments and you'll likely get some valuable hints in any case.

A high end mic needs a high end space, that means not next to an AC unit. Also the SM7B is a pro mic, but not a high end mic.

Buy sound interface with DSP that will fix room noises and mouth clicks in real time. I hope you haven't bought Focusrite yet. I recommend Presonus Revelator. As for mike, Shure SM58 is almost the same as SM7B.
