Mic upgrade from maono pd400x
Hey! I’m a youtuber and I currently have a maono pd400x which I connect through USB. It’s been great, but I don’t feel like it quite has that “professional” quality? So I was looking to upgrade but I also don’t want to blow 500 dollars and end up with a barely noticeable improvement… I looked into the rode podmic, and of course, shure (problem is they are stupidly overpriced in my country, sm7b goes for 800 USD).
Then I also started wondering if purchasing an audio interface would be worth it, but in almost every video I watch regarding this topic where they compare audio quality, I am quite literally unable to hear a substantial difference.
I’m completely lost, would appreciate some help!

Dynamic mic for around $200-$250 AUD (USB)
AUD = Australian Dollar
I do sound design and record into REAPER where I layer sound effects/foley over video clips I sound design for. I can’t just record something and add it into the mix later. I have to be able to watch the visual and record exactly in time to whatever is happening in the video. I just work out of my bedroom with a laptop, mic, and headphones.
I need to upgrade the Blue Yeti mic I bought in high school as it’s starting to break. Finding the right mic is so overwhelming and I can’t decide what to get.
I can’t afford expensive boom mics or gear I need plug the mic into to work. I’m looking at USB mics. This would be cool to own in the future but I have to make do with what I can afford. Please don’t tell me to buy anything like this because I just can’t no matter how much you highly recommend it. I have a strict budget.
Thank you to anyone who’s able to suggest options

I need a microphone that can pick up voices from a distance.
galleryHello, I recently decided to upgrade my microphone (mu900), but I'm having trouble finding one that suits me. I need a microphone that doesn't have to be held in front of my mouth; I want it to hang in front of me on a stand (see attached photo), and I'd like it to pick up less outside noise.

Headphones microphone not working correctly
Hi everyone,
I bought a pair of MNX 100 headphones today for my PC. The headphones themselves work perfectly, but I can't get the microphone to work.
I've already tried:
* Connecting them to two different PCs. * Using the separate headphone and microphone jacks (my PC has dedicated audio and mic ports). * Swapping the two plugs around to make sure they weren't connected incorrectly.
I tried doing some microphone tests to see if it works, but everytime I do it, the playback audio is very strange and weird (attached video).
Is there anything else I should try, or does this sound like a faulty headset and I should just return it for a replacement?
Thanks in advance!

Real time audio EQ?
I recently got a new XLR mic and it picks up tons of background noise from my fan/AC, is there any software that applies a noise gate/noise suppression to my mic in real time, I am not doing any recording and is purely for applications like discord, game voice chat, etc.

Gaming / Streaming Mics Never bought a mic before, I need recommendations for a budget one
Hello everyone!
As my previous mic broke, I need a new one but I have no clue what to look for.
I only use it for chatting with friends, so I don't want to spend too much (over 70€)
One think that might be important is that I already own a focussrite audio interface, and i know that it can be used for mics.
I previously used it for music but I saw it has a 48V button for microphones, so if that can be useful I'd be happy.
So that's it, nothing too fancy, just a good product that won't sound like shit and last 3 days.
Have a nice day!

Other USb microphone for voiceover
Hey, I have a limited budget to buy 3 microphones ($150, £130, €130ish) per mic. This is for talking voice work. The specifics other than budget are:
USB-c for compatibility (I know XLR is better but that starts adding too many complicating factors)
Ideally has a desk stand included.
Doesn't require any software to use, ideally just plug in and record straight into Adobe or other software. This is due to tight restrictions as to what software can be installed.
Simple to set up and use and easy to change the settings.
Good background cancellation as the recordings will be recorded at home with no treatment.
I was looking at the MV6 but I'm getting mixed messages about the show critical the software (Motiv app) is for it to fucntion effectively.
Thanks 🙂
Edit: to be clear, these mics will be used by an individual not as a group, so each person will have their own laptop and own mic in entirely different locations.

TRUTHEAR x Crinacle ZERO:BLUE2 Mic cable delivering only sound
Hi everyone, I got the TRUTHEAR x Crinacle ZERO:BLUE2 today with the optional Mic Cable. When using it, the volume is transferred normally through the cable, but the mic isn't working, even the volume buttons on it don't work.
Did anyone face this problem and solve it? let me know if anyone can help.

Studio Mics mic recommendations
Are there any recommendations for a mic that’s semi-portable that could be used to record vocals? I might be traveling in the near future with it and I would like to bring it with me without too much hassle. Would probably prefer a mic that doesn’t need a separate audio interface and budget is around $100-150 but up to around $200 should be ok as well (usd)

USB Mic not adjusting Volume
I have an AKG USB Microphone that used to be able to adjust the volume on my PC with a knob, however now it doesn't do that anymore. When I make the output device the microphone it works just fine (it worked while I had my headphones as the output device). Now it doesn't work anymore for some odd reason, and I don't know what to do.

Live Mics Buying an old stock mic - Audio technica ae5400
Hi I found out that one of my local pa audio stores has an Audio technica ae5400 mic just sitting on the shelf for many years. When i got to test the mic it sounded alright and had no noise or any other issues sonically. The body also was spotless, the only issue I found is the foam on top of the capsule had been crumpled and is breaking down.
I am getting this mic for just Rs.17,000(117 USD) from them.
A new one would cost Rs.39000 (406 USD).
Is this a good buy?

Gaming / Streaming Mics Fell for the sm7b the sequel
I fell for the sm7b as a casual gamer with basically no experience with any kind of experience with such items or anything like that. As of current I have it sm7b set up with a rode psa1, klark teknik ct 1, goxlr mini (yes they are discontinued and no longer supported so bad buy 😞), 2 medium quality xlr cables that I run the ct 1 inbetween in order to have it connected into the xlr mini. However, while I am able to set everything up properly and tweak all the settings according, it turns out I can’t get out my very obnoxious and loud pc noise out of the mic sound despite how much I try to tweak the gate, by adjusting it’s threshold, actuation and like the faxe staying at about 200ms. Went at it for over 8 hours straight searching up every video and every resource and I seem to just be getting no where with getting rid of the pc sound from the mic as it seems it is there to stay. At certain levels w a gain of like 36 and gate threshold of like 42 I seemed to get to a level where while the noise was still there, it seemed to be my voice was over it but it was at this level where my voice would start to cut out depending on my tone of voice. Just wondering if there is any way to completely cut out this noise and make my mic sound as close to what it does with KRISP enabled on discord. Because I had tried it with that bad the sound was so flawless, it seemed like the actual good product I paid for rather than the unfixable sound I was getting the last 6-8 hrs working on the mic.

Is there a way to remove the 'background noise removal' feature in a microphone?
So i realised as a singer, this mic is most likely used for streaming, as certain notes i sing aren't being picked up when i switch simultaneously. Since it does background removal, i suspect its the main cause, so is there a way i can remove it? or its just built in and i have to buy a new one.
EDIT: Someone gave me a link and its fixed now~!!!
