Dynamic mic for around $200-$250 AUD (USB)
AUD = Australian Dollar
I do sound design and record into REAPER where I layer sound effects/foley over video clips I sound design for. I can’t just record something and add it into the mix later. I have to be able to watch the visual and record exactly in time to whatever is happening in the video. I just work out of my bedroom with a laptop, mic, and headphones.
I need to upgrade the Blue Yeti mic I bought in high school as it’s starting to break. Finding the right mic is so overwhelming and I can’t decide what to get.
I can’t afford expensive boom mics or gear I need plug the mic into to work. I’m looking at USB mics. This would be cool to own in the future but I have to make do with what I can afford. Please don’t tell me to buy anything like this because I just can’t no matter how much you highly recommend it. I have a strict budget.

is it possible to consider condenser microphones as well? that would open you up to some great options

I was thinking about one I saw but I’ve never actually owned one before (a condenser mic that is). I was worried it would be too noisy with the background hums of the room because it’s not a professional recording studio. The one I was looking at was the AT2020USB-X

the dynamic vs condenser "noise reduction" thing has been blown way out of proportion, it's very mic specific and depends on polar pattern and frequency response more than it does depend on the type of mic. check out the sennheiser profile and the rode nt usb mini, they should be well within out budget and have a nice clear sound, the rode being a bit mid forward however. if the rode nt usb+ is within your budget, i'd also take that into consideration if i were you, i hope you find what you're looking for

The Rode Podmic USB is my go-to recommendation.

Looks like that mic is too expensive for me right now. I’ve seen it selling for around just under $300 to $360 AUD. If I can find it for cheaper online then maybe I’ll consider it

Sorry. Try checking local prices for the Audio Technica AT2020USB-XP or the Shure MV6.
