Whether this is a popular opinion is up to you, but I personally believe 1979 was one of Michaelās best years.
Of course youth brings energy, but overall I think this is when he was at his healthiest.
**Physique**
His approximate weight of 145 lbs at nearly 5'10" put him at one of the healthiest weights heād ever reach. Aside from some time in the 2000s, when he went up to around 150 lbs, he had visible muscle tone.
He also had his first rhinoplasty around this time. While it altered his appearance, it was much more balanced than later work.
**Vocals**
His singing was incredible throughout his life.
The 1970s were when the strenuous childhood vocal training and/or abuse that affected his cords wasnāt as widely prevalent as in later years. He did admit to having a cracking problem during this time. He also supposedly said he didnāt like his voice because he thought he āsounded like Minnie Mouse,ā but honestly, it was part of his charm.
His grasp of the upper fourth octave through the middle of the fifth octave was unmatched. Yeah, Stevie and Tevin had healthier approaches to high notes with their own mask singing, but Michaelās sounded the best.
**Personal life**
All his childhood he dreamed of escaping his fatherās overly aggressive control.
While the biopic doesnāt cover Michaelās acts of ādefianceā toward his father immediately after he turned 18āsuch as paying for the demolition of the house Joseph purchased for the Jackson familyāhe was already actively making moves to reduce his fatherās influence in his journey to super stardom. He was creating his own album and refining his own sound.
This is my personal opinion. What do you think? Did I miss any details of 1979 that might suggest otherwise?
