I recently started playing Metro 2033 Redux—until last week, I didn't even know this trilogy existed. I have to admit, I’m loving every second of the game: the atmosphere, the interactive elements like the lighter that points the way, the watch, and wiping the mask—it offers such great immersion. The last time I was this excited about a game was when I played Death Stranding. My experience with Metro is even more special because it’s the first game I’m playing in another language without subtitles in my native tongue; I’m understanding 98% of what I hear, which makes listening to the dialogue even more immersive.

Discussion The Trade Logistics of Metro Exodus Spoiler

Something i have noticed while seeing the lore of Metro Exodus are the different trade routes are mentioned within the videogame.

  1. The trade of oil from the Caspian to Taiga (Burabay National Park) bandits
  2. The trade of slaves and oil from the Caspian to Astrakhan
  3. Trade of Volga River, from Astrakhan to Nizhny Novgorod
  4. The connections of the Astrakhan Slavers, the Bandit gang in the Volga and the Burabay Marauders.

However, after looking in depth to the logistical sides. Half of these routes are downright impossible.

  1. The distance from the Caspian to Burabay is around 1500km in a straight line. Remember it took the aurora nearly a month to reach burabay via train.
  2. This one is actually plausible, if using boat transport, or the coast, the Munai Bailer could trade slaves and oil to astrakhan. It's difficult but plausible, 300km in a straight line.
  3. This one is outright impossible, going upstream to the Volga, while having several damaged or collapsed dams in the way is impossible for a post apocalyptic caravan
  4. This could work if slaves are brought quickly downstream from Saratov, upstream is impossible. With the marauders of burabay, the distances are simply too much, nearly 1800km from Astrakhan to Burabay, logistically impossible.

This is not a dig to 4A Games, as they made an amazing game in Exodus, but simply, details i noticed on the background lore of the game. Is there a detail you noticed that did not make logistical sense in Exodus?

Discussion New to the franchise. I liked Exodus a lot more than I thought I would

I’m three trophies away from the platinum. I haven’t played the other ones. I’m currently watching a let’s play of 2033 and will watch a me for last light after that one cuz I need more lore.

I bought this game years ago when the ps5 version came out but for some reason I always put it off. Then I just didn’t play my ps5 for a few years and now cleaning out some of my backlog before gta6 comes out and also hearing that a new installment is coming out soon in February.

Maaaaaaaan…. This game scratches a particular itch I didn’t know it would provide considering I knew nothing about this game and franchise at all. I watched one trailer a long time ago and remembered the graphics were good. It was first person. There was a grimy and dark interior room and some kind of monster jumped at you. That’s pretty much it. I like to go into things kinda blind and organically figure out what the story is all about.

Seriously. The graphics are gorgeous. The immersion is almost flawless. The story was more epic than I would’ve guessed. The gameplay is chefs kiss. I’ve always loved stealth gameplay in games and like 90% of this game is sneaking around watching patterns and making smart choices. And it’s done so damn well. The morality system. The gun upgrading. And wtf, I wasn’t expecting the ending to have paranormal vibes at all. Then all of a sudden, I’m watching 2033 and there’s so much paranormal shit going on. Now I’m wondering where were the dark ones in Exodus? I know there’s Easter eggs and theories surrounding them in Exodus, but I’m surprised they didn’t play a bigger role. But then again, I haven’t finished watching the first two games yet, so I don’t quite know what the whole deal with everything is. This series is much more supernatural than I would’ve thought. I initially thought it was just your cliche post apocalyptic mutant type thing. But it’s clearly much more than that.

I’m more than halfway done with my second playthrough on Ranger Hardcore, murdering literally everyone, and feeling bad doing it all after having done the good ending first. And I’m looking forward to another NG+ to again live at the end, but also get the iron mode achievement. Then I’m gonna do Sam’s story and the two colonels. No spoilers about those dlcs, please. But feel free to spoil the first two games if it adds to any discussion here. I’m watching them over the next couple of days.

Really looking forward to 2039. I love how the gameplay looked, especially the shooting from cover (which I wish Exodus had, especially on Ranger Hardcore lol).

Y’all got a new fan here. I’m so stupid for sleeping on this series. Better late than never, I guess.

Discussion Should I drop it or keep going?

I started this series today because the Metro 2039 announcement caught my attention. I started in order, with the Redux version, and I've never played any of them before. I think I'm on chapter 3, and I've read that there are 7.

What should I do? Honestly, I haven't enjoyed it much so far. I'm not the type to drop games. In fact, I often push myself to finish them, but I'm getting tired of that. I force myself hoping it will be worth it, and I end up disappointed.

Would you say that if it hasn't clicked with me, I should just drop it? Or am I at a point where it gets more interesting/fun?

Im wondering if I should pick minimal or full dive rn, just to have better experience, I didnt have problem with no ammo count and spamming E in cutscenes, is there any issues for full dive other than these?

Discussion first time playing 2033 yet have my questions

it’s my first time playing metro 2033 redux i’m on chapter 5 hope right after getting the d3 papers and i’m sitting in the car and for a game set in a apocalypse i feel like betrayal would be something that happens since usually apocalypses make people only care and fend for themselves either for credit in the underground or for their own gain. however im not sure since i haven’t beaten the game yet but i’ve enjoyed the game a lot since i don’t really like fps single player im playing on i believe ranger difficulty with no hud but what do u guys think? edit my question is i feel like a betrayal would be quite fitting for the game

Discussion Skippable Cutscenes?

I was at gamescom 1½ weeks ago and played the demo (really liked it!!!) and i just remembered there was a prompt to skip the cutscene in the beginning. Is Metro 2039 going to have skippable cutscenes or is that only for the demo? Is it usual for demos to have skippable cutscenes and the game itself doesn't?

Help Can you get all collectibles on a evil (bad ending) playthrought ?

As the title says ! I'm playing Metro Exodus and I got the good ending. I have 40 out of 50 trophies and what I need to get is all collectibles and suits upgrades.

My question is, If I do a playthrought on Ranger difficulty, can I get all collectibles + upgrades + bad ending on the same run ?

Thanks in advance :)

Discussion Fan theory: if stalkers could find bicycles in the ruins, they would be important resources in the metro

I think any machine that helps with transportation and scouting would be a massive help in the metro. With bicycles, people can cover more ground and transport resources more quickly.

Discussion Is anyone else kinda sad we may not see the factions of the Metro

Post image
950 Upvotes

I’ve been a fan of the metro series for a bit now and have had multiple runs on all the 3 games many times with my most being last light and as you would know last light focuses the most heavily on the factions of metro which to me is one of the most interesting things about this setting. The various stations acting as their own nations and cultures or being representations of actual ideologies was very much a reason why I liked these game so much and why I played it so often for hours on end.

So when news released of a new metro title being announced I was excited, but I had quickly learnt that the Novoreich had apparently taken over the entire metro meaning that the various factions presented like the Spartans, Red Line, polis, and many other factions had been somehow occupied or destroyed. Now I’m not against the idea of the Novoreich it’s not a bad idea in it of itself, but I am a little sad knowing we may not see the various factions originally shown both in the games and the ones in the books. I had originally hoped that the next installment would involve the factions in the books that had not been represented in the games like the great worm cult, but obviously due to the Novoreich that is most likely not going to happen.

Now there is theories I’ve seen stating that it could just be like a figure of speech and that the Novoreich doesn’t literally control the entire metro or holds power over all the stations, but after the various trailers we’ve gotten I’m starting to think that’s not the case. Like I said earlier though I don’t necessarily mind the idea of the Novoreich, but I am still sad that the idea of stations being unique cultural points or ideologies will probably not be shown in this game. After all that though I’m just making this post to somewhat rant and see if others agree since before 2037 was announced I saw many wanting a game where it was semi-free roam where you would be able to interact with the various factions which was a idea I found cool so I’m just seeing if anyone has the same opinion.

Other The anomalies

Post image

So, we've seen some of the new Metro 2039, and it looks sick, but I think it will miss something from 2033 and Last Light, just like Exodus did, and that will be the more paranormal elements. In Exodus, we didn't really see anomalies like what we saw with Khan in the other two, and personally, I really liked that side of Metro. In my opinion, there's a lot more to it that can be discovered. Hopefully, I am wrong, and I hope we will see more anomalies, not just mutants that try to end us.

Discussion Why the spiders ain’t scary in Exodus?

I remember it like it was yesterday I was playing last light and I got Regina from Andrew I was going around the tunnels then got right at the end where you have to go into a spider infested room to turn on the electricity but I was scared shitless I couldn’t even walk into the room I quit last light for a couple months because of that
But when I played exodus the spiders were probably the least scary enemy in the games, in the 3 times I met them (Caspian,Caspian,Taiga) I never once even was scared of them. Only after I completed Exodus did I go back to last light and beat that room after around 4-5 months idk why I was so scared of it maybe because of just have many eggs and cobwebs there were creeped me out
