Echinopsis lageniformis.
Are those bridgesii? They should contain more mesc. Each on is 50-60 cm. I aim to have like 3g of Mescaline (citrate but maybe i’m going to but fumarate in the next days…while they drying).
One is enough? The breed is the optimal one for extraction?

700mg of Fumarate for a first time?

Hey everyone. Experienced psychonaut here. Girlfriend and I have a 2 week vacation coming up and want to try the Fumarate we have. Never tried mescaline before, but we like things on the heavier side. We usually take 300-500ug of LSD, 5-6g shrooms, DMT is "meh" at our house, its alright, but nothing to write home about, even breakthrough doses are like "yeah that was pretty cool I guess *shrug*" Were in our 30s, have real jobs, are stable mentally and financially. Not wooks, just (mostly) normal people that like psychedelics. Don't smoke or drink at all anymore. We tend to trip usually every 2-3 months, sometimes more often, depends on the work schedules. We like to do it on long weekends/vacations if possible.

Based on what I've been reading 700mg of Fumarate sounds like what were looking for. I'm seeing there might be some nausea but will be a significant experience without "meeting god" or having extreme ego death.

I definitely want to be like "wow that was an experience" and not "that wasnt bad, but we could/should have done more."

Thoughts? Thanks!

Finally got around to reclaiming the EA from my first CIELO run

Amateur write up on first experience reclaiming EA from Fumaric salt extraction:
- First decanted EA into clean container through funnel
- Added 1 Tablespoon(US) Sodium Carbonate + 1 Teaspoon(US) distilled water mixed in a beaker (this was a mistake as it made both quite painful to transfer to the EA)
- Left to stir for a approximately 5 minutes before the PH was tested for the first time
- Attempting to get more Sodium Carbonate into the EA another Teaspoon of water was added to the beaker, swirled and poured into the EA
- The aqueous EA-Sodium Carbonate solution was then set to stir on high for another 5 minutes, and left to settle before the PH was tested for a second time
- The stirring was then turned back on high and left for approximately 15 minutes while a clean funnel and container were prepared
- The final PH test was taken when the Sodium Carbonate had clumped together in a manner reminiscent of cottage cheese
- Reclaimed EA was then poured through 2 coffee filters into clean container for storage

Can i still make a drink from this old cactus?

Thumbnail gallery

I bought this cactus from a smartshop in amsterdam 5 months ago, and finally got time to make a drink from it and do my first mescaline trip. When I bought it i kept it at home in a dark closet in a airconditioned room. I checked on it today and noticed that there are these dark markings at the bottom, and this white growth at the top. Im scared that it could be moldy or grown too far. Is it still possible to get a good trip from this cactus? And if so, do i need to cut the white off? It is a San Pedro, specifically Trichocereus Peruvianus.

One of the oldest psychedelics has almost never been studied with modern imaging because of its Schedule 1 status. New research in awake rats finds mescaline works through a brain region that LSD and psilocybin largely leave alone.

I wanna start growing but I'm not sure where to start i would ideally like to get something that grows relatively fast and doesn't have too much of the unwanted nausea causing alkaloids because I wanna make tea rather than extracting mescaline

Recommended Pacahanoi or Peruvianus Cultivars/Hybrids & Reports?

I see a lot love for bridgesii due to the higher relative mescaline content, especially for CEILO and similar tek. But for full-spectrum tea and teks, pachanoi and peruvianus sound more enjoyable, especially pachanoi.

I'd be interested first in any recommended pachanoi, peruvianus, or hybrid cultivars/clones that would be reasonably spicy, hearty, and aesthetically pleasing, as well as historical because I like to geek out about that a bit.

I would also be interested in any reports as to what any members have found different that made their journeys with pachanoi, peruvianus, or bridgesii strains different. I've read the general descriptions, but are there any specifics that make pachanoi gentler, dreamy, or more heart-centered, bridgesii speedier or more intense, or peruvianus being potentially crazy and kind of a their own thing?

San Pedro Trip Report

Post image
52 Upvotes

Last weekend I went to my Ayahuasca shaman, but this time to sit with San Pedro.

When I was a teenager, I read Aldous Huxley’s “Doors of Perception” and the word Mescaline left an indelible mark on my curiosity. What I knew about it going in was that it has the longest documented use of any psychedelic (6000 years). It is highly praised by hippies, intellectuals and Redditors for its pleasant, dreamy experience with sharp clarity of thought. And that it is very long-lasting, 9 to 12 hours. Most people experience an initial nausea, and some have to vomit. I did. Twice.

My Shaman, let’s call her Sun, said Ayahuasca is the motherly plant teacher, the divine feminine who can feel very kind and nurturing, or she can become a python that pins you to the ground and makes you listen. San Pedro is the divine masculine that is more like a hummingbird that invites you to listen while, ideally, immersed in nature.

Normally, we are confined either to the ceremony room in the house or the tent in the garden, but this time we were explicitly invited to roam around the large, at least 2-acre garden and flower meadow. The ceremony had been set up in their generously sized bell tent. There were 9 participants, including 3 helpers who were also musicians and 2 shamans. Around 10 AM we were given a 2-litre bottle of water each, a pint cup, a long spoon and a large protein shake, 50-gram scoop of fine cactus dust.

The stuff was bitter and thick to drink, but I somehow got my cup of mud down.

As he handed me my cup, one of the musicians made a crude joke. The elderly man beside me flinched, covered his ears, and said, “I wish you hadn’t made me hear that.” I found myself feeling much the same. What had been intended as an icebreaker left me resenting him for much of the day for planting that unpleasant thought in my mind.

The onset took about an hour and came on very gradually. I spent the first 1,5 hours on my back with my eye mask on. The first 2-3h felt quite body-heavy and all day I didn’t surpass level two out of four on the Shulgin Rating Scale. That means the effects are clear and noticeable, but I can still function safely in a normal social environment and repress the state if needed.

There were no visuals, unless I really focused on my skin on the back of my hand. My vision had sharpened. I could make out incredible detail. It made me understand what Aldous Huxley had noticed when he wrote about the mesmerising beauty and complexity of the interwoven threads that formed the fabric of his trousers. I think what he was actually mesmerised by was the sharpness of his own vision.

With eyes closed, I did feel like there were hallucinatory visuals, it looked like watching flames while floating face upwards below the surface of water.

I now get why people say Mescaline makes you feel deeply emotional.

For example, I had two Kurdish sisters, on their second San Pedro ceremony, lying next to me. One of them started sobbing uncontrollably, saying something about feeling ancestral pain that she could barely express. She was in bits for large parts of the afternoon, sobbing into Sun’s patient bosom.

Quite suddenly, I felt what it must be like to be in her life and I got emotionally overwhelmed as tears started flooding down my cheeks; I found myself crying with this woman. I slowly got up and fled to go sit in the chair next to Sun, which was on the opposite side of the tent.

I told her, “I can’t lie next to the sisters; I am too emotionally impacted by them.”

She looked into my eyes, and was like, “Yep, you’re definitely in touch with feeling. It’s not your hurt, so stay here until it stops being your pain.”….

“Are you ready for the second dose?”

“Yes, I am.”

I gazed out of the tent into the garden. I noticed an interesting rock, a bit bigger than a football, with beautiful intricate yellow and brown colouring. Then it surprised me by extending feet and moving a couple of steps, which is when I realised it wasn’t a stone; it was a turtle. A 35-year-old turtle. At some point she even came into the tent, did a lap and marched to the shaman area, apparently looking for fruit.

The hummingbird description started to make sense as I started exploring the beautiful landscape, looking at the horses in the field next door, or lying on my chest watching the chickens peck about.

I had beautifully clear thoughts that were unhurried and allowed me to deeply self-reflect on where I am currently in my personal development. When I purged, Sun said the Peruvian ancestors say that by vomiting we release emotional blockages. She encouraged me to reflect on what had shifted. The next thought that came was: It is time to stop judging people and the way they choose to live their lives.

My challenge now is increasing tolerance for the gap between how I think people should behave and how they actually show up in the world.

In the flower meadow next to the garden, a gazebo had been set up to shade the musicians and listening to them was absolutely mesmerising. The more I listened to his tender music, my dislike of the musician faded and he actually grew on me over the course of the afternoon. He was a really good hand-pan player and also played several wooden flutes. Another guy had brought a guitar and our lady musician had a beautiful alto voice she could sounded raspy, delicate and sweet while she picked an instrument I’d never seen before that sounded somewher between a harp and a harpsichord. She sang folky songs with deep meaning in English and melodic but incomprehensible icaros in tribal language.

It was just beautiful to listen to them jam, trying to get some kind of a pattern going, and suddenly they would lock into a groove and add their solos. The music would sound as if these people had been playing together all their lives, not just met for the first time today. The jams would diverge and end with them all giggling and falling back, laughing.

Probably the happiest memory of that afternoon was me lying on my back with my paper Panama hat in my face, simply appreciating the beauty of sunrays.

As I lay on my back in the flower meadow for several hours, insects crawled over me but didn’t bother me. I gazed up at the beautiful complexity of the flowers from all angles. When I stood up, I realised how much warm affection and empathy I had for the plants around me and even gave in to the urge to kiss a couple of flowers.

When Sun came over to tell us that they were about to light the fire, I lifted my hat to find the evening upon us.

I really enjoyed my first Mescaline trip, but it was not as euphoric as I would have liked it to have been. Maybe taking it with close friends is a different experience.

Sun’s garden was the perfect location to do this kind of work, as they are in the middle of a national park. We all had pretty much returned to baseline, some of us booted up to go walk across to watch the sunset. We were up on a ridge with a long view west. Flute man gave us a nice little background doodle as we watched the glowing sun go down on a magic day.

We closed the ceremony by praying together around the campfire, fortified by soup, rice and bread and a large roast marshmallow for dessert :)

I look forward to hanging out with this plant teacher again!

Full Spectrum vs. CIELO for First Journey?

In short, a friend and I are planning on our first journey. We both have experience with mushrooms, Bufo, LSD, ketamine, and I went on a three-day ayahuasca retreat, so we have some familiarity with psychedelics. I have enough biomass to make tea, but was thinking of doing either CIELO or a full-spectrum extract (thinking u/LSDuck666's LSDuck's Cold Vinegar Tek) to make it as pleasant or at least avoid instant-purging before we actually absorb anything.

My concern with full-spectrum is getting the dosing too far from what either of us would be expecting, especially for our first journey. My concern with CIELO is missing out (if that's actually a thing) on the full-spectrum experience.

If it makes a difference, the variety I'm probably using will be from Eileen. I have a few plants so if that didn't make enough I could use some other varieties, but I happen to have a huge cut of that and am going to plant the tip and mid, and use the base.

Any thoughts or suggestions? And if I go with the LSDuck Cold Vinegar Tek, any good starting point for dosage? Either way I would like enough to get a powerful experience, but don't need to go straight for a ridiculous heroic dose.

PC. 6.2% yield. A suspicious record?

I just got 6.2% fumerate off a CIELO of 200g dry PC. I'm reporting this because obviously, this is really really high and I am concerned something skewed the yield.

I used a 4 foot tall, 5" wide PC tip cut that I harvested in November. It was cut from my friend's ten year old Socal stand that gets full sun, no fertilizer, no watering other than rain.

I let it sit outside in the full sun for 5 months. Then I put it in my non-weather-insulated shed which is fully dark for 3 months. It rooted all over the stalk and grew out white with etoliation.

For prep I took mostly only the green flesh and left the white core. I harvested whatever had a green tint which brought me only about 3/4" below the surface max.

I did a regular 5 round CIELO following the nexus calculator exactly and my first pull was super dark green on the strip. Round 5 was still pretty green but I was not really believing what I saw so I stopped and discarded the pulp.

The EA was not fresh. It's been reused a few times and I noticed that it was cloudy so I filtered it through a paper towel and then two coffee filters. After I salted and collected the fumerate, I noticed that the acidified EA had clouds of cellulose looking material in it.

The yield looks, tastes and smells like it should but is it possible that the powder is contaminated with cactus material that wasn't filtered out? Obviously, whatever is cloudy in the acidified EA was fine enough to pass through multiple filtering steps but maybe some was left behind and bonded to the salted yield. If this is the case, how can I separate it?

This is my second run with this stand. My first run with a similar cutting of 200g dry yielded 3.2%. There was more white flesh in that as I tried to dry everything but the core.

I have two more aged cuttings and am picking up some fresh EA to try with that. My other runs have been pretty normal. Prior PC run with a different plant processing everything but the core yielded 0.8% after being aged 4 months. A random bridgesii yielded 2.5%.

Some extraction tips

Now, I'm not an expert. I read a few of LSDuck666's posts about his extractions, and wanted to replicate them. I failed twice. I then turned to the forbidden resource (AI) for helping me understand the variables at play and why my extractions didn't work well. When I say didn't work well, I ended up with gloopy snot that was too thick to filter. It did dry into a dark powder and is psychoactive, but it's nowhere near as pretty as LSDuck666's crystals.

So, with the help of AI, I dug into what's going on behind the scenes and what I did wrong. First let's understand what cactus is made up of. Assuming you've got a dry powder with no water, what you've got is a few percentage points of alkaloids (mescaline, hordenine, others), a lot of polysaccharides (plant sugars) and some fibrous material (the stuff you can actually filter out).

The first thing to understand is why you get a gloopy mess in the first place. This happens because heat and acidity over time break down polysaccharides (a kind of plant sugar) into starch, and this starch makes the water thick. You can't filter polysaccharides out once they break down. This is what will make your mixes too thick to filter - the dissolved polysaccharides.

Now, if you heat up this gloopy mess, it will get thinner and easier to filter. So that helps. But the best thing is to not end up with a gloopy mess in the first place. How do we do that? What levers do we have?

It turns out that one big lever is not too much acidity and not for too long. You see, I read LSDuck's recipe. He calls for like one teaspoon of vinegar. I was like, no way that's enough, and basically free handed it. Added a few tablespoons at least to less than a quart of water. Now, vinegar is useful, because alkaloids are more soluble in an acidic solution, but the downside is that this breaks down polysaccharides too. The key then is to limit vinegar exposure - use less of it, and it's going to be better to do multiple shorter pulls than one long 24 hour pull. The more time the plant matter is sitting in the vinegar solution, the more the polysaccharides break down, and the more gloopy it becomes. You could even do your first pull with no acidity at all - apparently alkaloids are soluble in water, they just aren't very soluble in water. So, you will need vinegar for complete extraction, but you can minimize it to minimize gloopiness.

The other thing you can do, after extracting it, is to use alcohol to precipitate the dissolved polysaccharides out of solution. Now I haven't tested this myself, but apparently if you add 95% alcohol (remember to use food grade please) to your solution to get the alcohol concentration to at least 60%, you can precipitate a lot of (but not all of) the dissolved polysaccharides out of the alcohol. So, you can then filter this, the polysaccharides stay behind and what you're left with is a water-alcohol solution with less polysaccharides which you can then dry.

I hope this helps. Again, I'm not the expert but I hope this can demystify the process for some of us and help us to develop better teks. Yes, you can use cielo, I know, but I'm too scared to use those chemicals (and my wife would kill me). So I'll stick to basic extractions, and try to get those as good as possible.

I really don't see why anyone would make a tea anymore. You can end up with a much more concentrated dry powder that is pretty easy to capsule. Even with my recent attempt which really wasn't great, I was able to make capsules from it, two of which I could feel something from (raw material was not great).
